why?

Why?

I tried, I wanted to

I even brought my pens with me, I planned it all, the lined pages,

pristine white, blank pages,

for days I even practiced the different styles of lettering

anticipation high, time to doodle and write.

Yet when I got to where we were going,

Not once, did I use the pens to practice my lettering

The pads of blank pages, came home empty.

Why?

It is the journey, the living each day that is important, obviously, while away my time was filled with happy moments, new discoveries, a sense of adventure and of course, the cherished company of a wonderful husband and our two frisky “canine children”

PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning point.

When we live in the NOW, there are no regrets.

Lo-Mein Wednesday

Good Day! Woke up this morning, and for some unknown reason, thought I’d go for a walk. Not just any walk, but to one of the main streets in the area, and from there I thought to hoof it up to another main street, and come back that way to one of our bigger shopping centers. Have I been walking these days, nooooooooo but I used to walk these little hikes without a second thought. Fortunately my brain wasn’t completely out in left field, I did make arrangements with Hubby to be on standby.

Walking, means you get to take different side streets and meander through the various little communities instead of skirting them by driving along streets where the buses travel. You see the little corner stores, and the well tended lots, even little parks you didn’t know where there.

The church on the Montreal Road, I pass numerous times, (in the truck) but, even thought I see the sign, I don’t usually get to really read it.. that would be a distraction, I just know there is a sign there. Today, on foot, I was able to stop and read the message. It is a good one isn’t it. For those of you who don’t read French, it says, Forgive and Love unconditionally.

We must learn to forgive not only others, but ourselves if there is to be peace on earth. We really need to practice everyday, goodwill to one and all.

McDonalds 5.31.17 My reward for talking myself out for a walk, a cold, ice cold, black coffee, with lots of ice. Oh Yum. I called Hubby to pick me up, while I was half way on my little mini “trek” For a first time out this year, I’m happy.

Lunch, kale salad and skinless salmon. Made at home, no store dressing. Just lite mayo.

Life is good isn’t it.

Me and rust

If there is rust, I’ll find it. I love the way it grows and expands, changing as it ages. Ok it is not for everyone. To my artist’s eye it has a melody all its very own. Left to slowly decompose, erode and oxidize it has patina and look that is unique, like a snowflake. At least it does to my eye.

I have a whole section of film that is all rust. For now it is part of my private collection. When I want inspiration, I can play it back and let each image dance across the screen in slow motion. Oooohhh so powerful.

Smiles out at her friends.. that is why that expression that has been around for ages, is so fitting here… “to each his/her own”

The place haunts me, I want to go back, I want to get inside, I want to know what happened, why it is all boarded and shut down. Will I ever know. Can you feel how magical this place is. Am I the only one. There was once a lovely garden all around, with walking paths. And now. except for the birds and little critters, it stands alone against the weather and time.

I will go back……………….. I really want to know. Sometimes we just have to wait.

NH discovering

Hello on Tuesday.. Was bright and sunny here today, yet where I would be up and out of the house bright and early, I was slow in getting going. Happens, I may have mentioned that while in NH I was suddenly hit with a flash of recognition. I didn’t want to shop, or really look around. I had enough! I’m sorry, for those of you who have had to pick yourselves of the floor, I assure you, it really happened

Such things do happen. Let’s face it, a book was written about the “strange events” that have been recorded to have happened, in the hills of NH. Shrouded Memories, True Stories from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, by Floyd W. Ramsey.

Will it last, who knows. So far, so good, I ran errands yesterday and today, and was not tempted to browse, or “look around”.. I applied myself to what needed to be done, then came back home. I do have some of my artwork on display at Raglan Art Walk 2017 in SL, I have participated for the last couple of years. I do need to send out some invitations.

What you see here, is my darling Canaille (Portuguese Water Dog) watching her human “daddy” eating a sandwich while relaxing with his “notebook” after a day of driving his “lovely” wife around touring the wilds of NH. You can see she is trained on his every move, I think, she believes, that if she waits it out, he will drop something. LOL he never does, but she never gives up hope.

That is what life is all about isn’t it. We need to live each moment, focused on what we are doing, appreciating the moment. When we are “hit” with an “idea” or “inspiration” we should listen, take heed, recognize that it is a “personal” message”

NH fever

Spring fever, the desire to be outside, to be part of the awakening vegetation. I could almost see the grass turning a deeper shade of green right before my eyes,

I probably passed this drain many many times, last year, but this year, Wow, it popped up, and mesmerized me with its geometric design.

Of course I’ve seen the brilliant yellow early flower of the forsythia bush, but in NH it was even brighter and more beautiful against the green of its companion Juniper or was it a Yew. Who cares, it was a delight.

AND really have you ever seen a better piece of art. Made in the good ole USA. =^_^=

Art is everywhere. Discovering in NH (New Hampshire )!! what a great way to spend leisure time.

Sometimes we have to do what we want .. no matter what. Ringo decided he was going to come to visit. I saw him before he arrived, only I had my own ideas, but his desire to be present over ruled my half-baked idea.

That is what happens in life, we may want something, we have it in our mind, just what we want or what we need to do to achieve or get to our goal, However along the way, it just didn’t or doesn’t work out that way. You followed the steps, you went forward the way you thought you should, and when you got to the end.. It just wasn’t the same. Not that it was a negative or simply not to your liking, it just wasn’t what you had, had in mind.

As an artist/writer, or other creative soul, it is an experience that happens to us often enough. We are good at adapting, truth be told, we kind of like the hiccups along the way, It allows for opportunities to experiment and usually go beyond what we have grown comfortable with.

Down Under -Thursday Doors

Isn’t this just the greatest natural doorway into a small paradise. Maybe not what we usually call a door, it does not open and close, but, Wow, I have to say congratulations Shirley, this is a stunning piece,. I look through and see so much that captures my imagination.

A lazy bear, resting in the afternoon sun. His nose pointing towards the sky as he breathes in the clean fresh air. The water so calm and blue, I wonder if I’d dare to wander through the doorway in case I am tempted to dip a toe in the sparkling water or like the bear become part of the amazing natural wonder that is calling to my senses. I want to find a place, sit and while away the rest of the day.

Dreams and magical vistas await us every day. It is up to us, to make time to go out and play.
