flashback

With the snow still falling… I wanted to hear the water rushing, see it happily gurgling along… I have not seen this much snow this early in December in awhile. Everyone wishing for a white Xmas will be happy…. so will the X country skier’s and snowshoes trekkers/ hikers… it is pretty, I’ll give it that. Hopefully the roads will be plowed. The forecasters are still calling for snow warning….

Start today with a fresh outlook. Even though people and situations may look the same, they are constantly changing. Start each day with a fresh mind.

Falling snow

This fell in a very short period of time. The forecast is it will continue to fall all day in huge amounts. They are calling it a mammoth storm. Temperatures are around 30 degrees F. and are aging to stay in that range for the day. I am considering my options… Appointment for winter snow tires is next week.

Have a joyful day by being a little more creative. you will enjoy your day more by adding a little creativity to your daily activities.

If you are in one of the areas hit by this storm, please stay safe…

Hiding in plain sight

You can only change yourself. Before you start telling people how they should do things, think of how you can be more flexible

Something to tuck away to look at .. later.. Mindfulness teaches that interruptive thoughts are actually very pliable and like elastic bands… we can snap them out of the way… put disruptive thoughts aside, “you can tend to them later” ( I have a drawer full of elastic bands.. all colours and sizes…just saying..) The day comes, I open up the drawer and toss them all away.. why… I forgot what they were for. =^_^= ….

Snow… snow… hello… will you stay…

When you face difficulties start with anything you can do. when you are able to grasp the situation, you will surely be able to notice something that you can do.

Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance. Eckhart Tolle

happiness is

I came home to find that Jim (Jim Robertson) had sent me a link to his web page. https://photo-stories.myportfolio.com/dewberry-trail-feeders … the video is a 3 minute video he put together from his visits to Dewberry (Nature trail- conservation area) in Ottawa, Canada.

You have all heard me go on about my morning outings. This is one of the locations I go, the other one is at Mer Bleue. Both are NCC Conservation area.

Please if you have time, visit Jim’s website, he has the most wonderful photographs that will take you on a visual journey through the many places he has visited. I delighted in his pictures of the birds that I have gotten to know “intimately”… (I see daily) and interact with. I often get asked about the feeders, with Jim’s video.. you will see where I “hang out” and spend endless hours just “BEING” in nature and with the birds and assorted wildlife that come to visit.

It’s easier to adapt to something when we find it interesting. No matter how enjoyable a situation is, a slight change in our attitude can make it boring. Let’s face any situation with curiosity and enthusiasm.

My heartfelt thanks to Jim for doing this video … showing you “my” little family. I have no idea what possessed him to feature the Dewberry birds.. but I am thrilled and filled with gratitude at his thoughtfulness. Thank you Jim.

Tuesday

Alone, adrift, lazily following the current, ….. no…. if I were to pan out you would see my companions and fellow nature lovers…. we are all ONE, sometimes we need only raise our heads and look around.

Don’t let circumstances sway your decision. It does not help to overthink things. sometimes we just need to make up our minds and move forward.

Sunday Silence

There is a hush … a quiet that reaches in and stills the restless mind.

No matter how hard you try to foresee the future, you really don’t know how things will turn out. Do your best and see how it plays out. Trust in your instinct, take action without thinking too hard.

Thursday door

Life is fragile … a moment comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Today was December 1st. and at the PL church we had a 10 o’clock ceremony (every 1st of the month) where we pray for world Peace and dedicate ourselves to live as peaceful human beings in our own worlds. On the 11th. we have a ceremony to express our gratitude and appreciation for the love and virtues of our ancestors … asking for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL Way.

The church is a building where we come together to pray and share the values and the philosophy of the teachings. Without people it would an empty building, it is the people who come to share in community that makes it a special play to be.

When I come up to and walk through the doors into the church, there is an immediate calm and a sense of “quiet comfort” … the doors our symbolic of “passage”… they are not ornate, but strong& sturdy, their presence give a sense of “security”… when we enter, we pass through from “the outer world” to the “spiritual” world of our true “selves”

To visit and explore the world of doors, please visit Dan’s No Facilities site, where other “door lovers” have posted their door(s) for you to appreciate and enjoy. https://nofacilities.com/2022/12/01/barns-and-news/

just out of bed …… the sky was so red I couldn’t let it happen and not take action captured on my cell ….. it was so dark so intense……. yet when transferred to my hard drive, the red was already fading into the morning clouds …. but… that is what life is…. a lifetime can disappear in the blink of an eye. …. change is an opportunity for growth… .hmmm well said!

It is not fun to be stuck in One place. Instead of being captured by what’s in front of you, strive to broaden your horizons.

Black Friday?

I have been rereading Ishmael -an adventure of the mind and spirit by Daniel Quinn. Reading something that you previously came across YearS ago… makes for interesting observations. The book came out in 1992. Once I started to peruse the book, I remembered how I had reacted to it the first time I came across it. I grew up on Alan Watts, The prophet Kahlil Gibran, and as many books I could find on the Tao. Having a gorilla for a mentor is something new to contemplate now that I am in my “senior” years.

Black Friday is no longer something that happens on one day after a holiday, we have been bombarded with Black Friday sales now for days, weeks even. There is a huge focus on commercialism, spend, spend, buy, buy.

The other book that is on my reading list at the moment is Sophie’s World. This is a novel about the history of philosophy by Jostein Gaarder It was translated and copywritten in 1994 by Paulette Moller, hmmm you say, kinda interesting reading at this tender age… yes… it has given me some food for though BECAUSE I am past my formative years, I have lived many lifetimes now… and I realized as I was reading the pages of these books that my thought process and how I “see” life is pretty much etched into my daily living.

The picture on the right is how I digest, reflect and regroup my thoughts when I am processing my days/nights. The picture on the left with the gorilla is “another time/place” when I was more “open” to the energy and thought process of others/and circumstances.

I can really relate to the ambiance and storyline of Sophie’s world because the writer has her finding her own “secret den” where she can go and process her thoughts. In both books, the characters are looking for answers, they are filled with wonder and are like sponges taking in information and trying to make sense of the world as it is seen by them…

In Canada we had our Thanksgiving in October, yesterday was thanksgiving in the United States, in PL we celebrate and have special service each month on the 21st. It is a time to remember, and express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives, and each 11th of the month we have a service to honour and pay tribute to our ancestors. Because our lives are so closely tied with our neighbours in the States, we spend a lot of time hearing about and seeing what Thanksgiving is in both Canada and the United States.

What dominated the airwaves these past weeks/months has been sports, shopping, politics, and more shopping and sports. AND lets not forget all the hallmark movies and storylines about that special love that is more storybook than anything else that happens from now till after Christmas.

How real do most of us deal with life on a day to day basis.???

Today’s calendar.. ( which I find interesting for Black Friday reading )

Use money and things usefully and enthusiastically. Money and things are materials for self expression. Use them joyfully with appreciation
