a walk with myself

Today I forced myself to return to Pine Grove Trail .. it has been cleared .. above is what it looked like after the storm.. below is what I explored today.

At first I confess I was filled with a sadness, my feet were reluctant, and my whole body tensed as I made my way through the gate to walk along the once familiar trail Then I began to notice the new growth that was bravely dealing with the coming of winter. The young shoots were bravely waving their fall colours.

I was reminded that in nature, there is always tomorrow, and another day. Out of the broken, devastated remains of what was, there was new growth, Strong young shoots reaching up into the clear blue sky, their leaves a riot of colour showing their pride at having attained a place in the world.

The message was loud and clear, never let a set back, deter you from your goals or purpose in life. It may not be the easiest path, but it is your path, and you are here, live it… experience all of what life sends your way… if you come face to face with it, it is because the Universe knows you can cope/deal with it.

When you let go of what was… you are blessed with new opportunities .. you face new potential … you will make new memories … and you yourself, will grow, you open the door to new possibilities.

What began as a simple walk, turned into a moment of discovery, I feel so blessed, and that you are here to share it with me, makes it a pure delight.

musing

My third attempt at writing this blog… too many thoughts, too many different interjections from within my own thought process. Japan (head quarters for the PL church) has made a decision that they are imposing on the churches in North America.. (USA and Canada) In Japan and Brazil and all South American churches I am assuming will also follow suit. In Brazil tho’ they already have their own way of dealing with things.. their culture is so different from Japan, that over time, they have developed what works for them.

However in North America we are not in the thousands, we are a much smaller group, with churches in California NY and here in Canada. Actual physical churches number less than a dozen, our members though are scattered across the States and Canada. Still by comparison we are few. So Japan has decided without consultation with any of its members that we will no longer be able to have service on Sundays, but must operate like they do in Japan where the culture is different and there is a church in almost every corner of the city, town, village etc. Oh we will be allowed to still “gather” on Sundays, but we must no longer call it a service, we must call it a “gathering” and how we get together must be as they dictate.

I love the philosophy of the teachings (PL) but I do not agree with the corporate decisions that are being dictated to us, or how they are communicating with us. It is a very male dominated organization, and tho’ they talk of equality, there is a way for women and a way for men. (so it is written) … these are words … the teachings are so profound and so universal, ONE with the Universe, Peace on earth for everyone etc.. in the past I’ve been able to simply ignore I guess the parts of the “church” that I found sexist, (mainly telling myself it was set up at a different time when times were different, and ..oh.. it is in the translation from Japanese to English…. but.. this last slap… I can not just sit back and accept…)

Of course it is not as simple, it is not black/white.. never-the-less… it has given me serious cause for pause.

Don’t let circumstances sway your decision. It does not help to overthink things. Sometimes we just need to make up our minds and move forward.

Do you know that I am English speaking, I am Canadian, if I have an issue or problem and want to talk it over with a leader in Japan, they do not have someone who I can dialogue with in English. and when there I was given a name tag that said I was from the USA. When I said “excuse me, I am from Canada,” I was seen as a nuisance, my tag got changed but only because I insisted, maybe I’m just slow .. and maybe I am a trouble maker, but I am Canadian and I paid a small fortune to get there to participate, in my view it was a lack of respect on their part. oh dear.. oh dear.. time to shut down and go find my birds,

yes everyone, I will be there today, but….

into morning mist….

There is something about the tranquility and peaceful ambience of being in nature in the early morning hours.

Have a prayerful mind to love yourself and others. Open up your heart fully when praying to God. It will help you work out your feelings.

when dragons soar

There is a magic that can’t be denied when you look up and see the dragon’s trail as it winds it way up and into the void that is called he Universe. His roar is silent as he soars, but the light left by his tail can be seen for miles around for those who believe.

Won’t be long now, Monday will be Hallow’s Eve. It was once a pagan festival, did you know Halloween was once a religious holiday. It is the day before All Saints’ Day, Nov.1.. Halloween was a Celtic feast called Samhain, “summer’s end”…they believed the dead could walk among the living. Christianity adopted Oct. 31 in the 11th century.

Trick or treating began in places like Ireland and Scotland where people went house to house asking for small breads in exchange of prayer. Celebrants believe that the barriers between the physical world and the spirit world break down during Samhain ( there was a revival with the popularity of Wicca in the 1980s)

Wicca celebration of Samhain takes on many forms, from the traditional fire ceremonies to celebrations that embrace many aspects of modern Halloween, as well as activities related to honoring nature or ancestors.

Wiccans look at Samhain as the passing of the year, and incorporate common Wiccan traditions into the celebration.

Let’s have a humble mind. Once you think, “that’s good enough” you become blind to the opportunities to be more creative.

28th. habits

my morning face … my thinking,,. my actions…. my reaction to the moment of awareness I’m having..

Oh dear… such contrast … time to reign in the busy mind and pull myself together…. CHANGE is in the air, and I realize that I have fallen into old habits. I don’t know when, how, or why this happened, well.. yes I do.. I fell back into what was comfortable to do, ie. eat all kinds of comfort foods not because I especially wanted them but because I was lazy. they were convenient and fast. I spend more time on the doing things I like (which is good) but not if I am neglecting something else that needs doing.

Reminds me of a saying I saw in a book the other day, “above all … be the heroine of your life, not the victim” (Nora Ephron)

Here is another good one… “owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it” Brene Brown.

meet “Ham”

I really do believe that this one likes to pose for me. He will set himself apart and then just pose giving me time to take his picture… all sides =^_^= … It doesn’t earn him rewards just praise and admiration.

When the camera gets put away, he will saunter off being very nonchalant. No, I cannot tell them apart once they are gathered in a group.. not yet anyway. I have to admit to being fond of them, now when I see them when I’m walking a trail, I stop and visit.. a few of them will be social, others will turn and run off towards their “pals”.. they have the cutest way of running. The other day I was treated to two of them actually flying off into the trees. It was my first time to see them lift off and fly a distance.. they are a delightful bird.

I have a question, there is a big (I think) wasp nest hanging high up on a tree at one of the sites I go to, I watched it the other day swaying in the wind. It is big, how do they suspend it and with what?

Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

Make a point of smiling, it relaxes the face and can alter your brain and body chemistry, It can also have a positive effect on the way people react to you.

where was I

What happened? Where did I go what did I do? for some reason I did things yesterday that today, I realize I filed/posted in the wrong places. I looked normal enough, I felt like I was firing on all cylinders, but…. then this morning my phone was acting up, I couldn’t see the screen, it was black, like it has done before when I forgot to charge it… and the wake up was sudden when a friend sent a text.. and I heard the sound… and my sleep fogged brain realized that it had to be later in the morning, cuz the phone would not have beeped. and and and and…. it isn’t even 7 yet and I’m late. OK… deep breath…

Be cheerful and friendly with those around you. Other people can sense how you are feeling … So, be cheerful

be still my heart

Who says these wonderful birds don’t have personalities. This beauty was showing off for me today, and I was lucky enough to get my cell out for a picture. Since I get to see them now almost every morning, I am getting used to them, and them to me… I put out a product called bird butter that I get from a specialty shop.. I apply it to the bark of trees for the woodpeckers and smaller birds. Today, my attention was called to look over to where I had just applied it.. to see not a woodpecker, but….

pecking away at the bird butter

They are proving to be delightful critters, they are playful and naughty, curious and as you can see by the top pictures.. they can be hams/showoffs. they were seen eyeing the back of my car where the birdseed is stored (my trunk lid was up)… so far I’ve seen them with their necks outstretched, but they have kept a distance. I’ll be watching them. =^_^=

Be in tune with the feelings of others. Let’s start by trying to understand other peoples’ feelings.
