A friend who had been a linesman for a Communication giant, was charged with the maintenance of their lines. In those days, lines were overland. He always spoke with a reverence of the lands he traveled. He was out in the elements every day, through all the season. This year, why this year, maybe because the weather was just perfect for the changing of the seasons, in the plant world. For whatever reasons, no matter, where, or when, in whatever direction I was travelling, the glory of Nature’s magnificence was everywhere.

the journey is so importanttake time to enjoylive with an open heart

giving Thanks

This past week I have had wonderful Thanksgiving dinners with friends, too many, in fact… now that the actual week-end is here, I am “stuffed”, Not with the blessing of friendships, but with poultry, dressing and cranberry sauces. One can never have enough friends. I love my friends.

As I drifted off into a peaceful sleep. I counted my blessings, family, friends I absolutely delight in, the country I live in, its beauty, it changing seasons, and of course, life itself.

People, human beings, from wherever in the world all share the same skies, the same day to day challenges, what makes it different, is that each culture has its own way, and celebrate life with different holidays, and have different heroes and folklore. My father taught me that to be accepted, I had to first accept myself, AND, the ways of others. It wasn’t always about ME, but how I accepted life, lived it, and made my way, was indeed mine, and I needed to own my actions. RESPECT played a big part, if I didn’t understand, it was alright to ask, always with respect and an open heart.

Granted often food was involved, we considered it an honour to eat with friends, guests welcomed to our table, were always shown the utmost respect, and when out, there was always the reminder to be considerate of others.

Now we sit in restaurants, each at our table, or booth, the place can be packed with other diners, but not a glance is given, or a smile offered.

How is it in your “world” are you someone who is open to smiling and greeting a total stranger, if only briefly, with a sign of recognition that they are another “person” just like you….

Bonnie

Do my friends know me .. or what…

Bonnie is away celebrating the Thanksgiving (Canadian) long week-end with family in other parts of the Province. She saw this and stopped to capture it, knowing she would delight me to pieces when I opened her e-mail.

I noted Bonnie you remained a lady, and unlike me, didn’t go over and take pictures all around the vehicle, and even try to waylay the owner. =^_^=

Friends are worth their weight in gold, and more. Have a good day everyone. Ancestor’s day service will begin at 10:a.m. this morning.

dolls

Meet Blythe doll #1, I say #1 because I have another one on order. I took Blythe to the doll club meeting yesterday, but didn’t get a chance to introduce her. I suspect she will come with me again to the meeting in November. We meet once a month.

Things never turn out like we think they might. My experience through life has been to roll with the dice. I had started to explain about items I had brought in to share, however, there was so much to cover in a two hour period, that I simply didn’t have the time to talk about the fall, October, November, when we in North American celebrate Thanksgiving as a yearly holiday. October for us in Canada, and I believe it is in November for residents of the United States.

Sitting with Blythe 1 is a pin cushion my sister knitted for me while she watched TV with me and chatted. Something I have not mastered. I do one or the other, but not at the same time. =^_^= For those of you who will ask, that is an upside down Chinese skull cap, and that is the pigtail hiding off to the side/back.

The Blythe doll, is an artists “toy” she wears a wig, that we can change, her skin comes in different colours, and you can buy different coloured eyes for her. The artists who play with her actually do her makeup, redo hair, dress her (her body is smaller than her head) There are two screws at the back of her head, so that you can get at her eyes.. the lids come down and you paint on those too.

So why the second doll. Because … I want to take this one apart, and play. That is what creative inquisitive individuals do. =^_^=

There is a saying or song.. Life is but a dream…. in mine nothing is impossible. Some discoveries are more fun than others, but all are interesting and worthwhile.

Make each and everyday count.

golden bronze and red

For miles and miles of highway, it was one breathtaking moment after another. Thankfully I can’t stop on a major super highway, too many cars, besides, I wouldn’t know which length of highway to stop and gape at. As I got closer to Montreal, there was less of the deeper colours, but the change was evident. Soon the West Island will be showing glorious colours against the blue of the skies and the reflection off the waterways.

I even made it back to the Ottawa area, in time to have my car tended to. Somewhere between Hawksbury and Alfred my light went on, (dash) I had a tire loosing air. Tomorrow is another busy day, I was encouraged to get my tire fixed, or I could be without a car for tomorrow. Couldn’t have that, now could I.

Face challenging Situations with Positive Determination (after driving to Montreal and back, it was not my first thought to get back in my car and get my tire attended to) By creatively finding solutions, you will feel the joy in tackling any situation.

Tomorrow, I will be enormously happy that I had my car tended to, and will have a positive start to my day.

Tuesday

Colourful Chinese Lanterns, to celebrate the news that friends are coming up this way to see the fall colours. First they will go to Nova Scotia, the fall colours there will be amazing especially around the Cabot Trail.

Thinking of the good news, and the wonderful artist array that Mother Nature is laying out these days, I am off to see what of her beauty I can capture. Yay another new day!

Follow your heart while also thinking about the happiness of Others. Always be true to yourself in your words and actions. Strive to make others happy with a sincere heart.

Acceptance

These are the locks next to the once called Chateau Laurier in downtown Ottawa. Since forever, I remember these locks, I would see them every day coming into Ottawa when riding public transportation, back… when =^_^=

I don’t get to see them now, I seldom drive that way, however they are still there, and so is the hotel, only now it has another name. Change is a constant in life, it happens. Sometimes we are in the thick of it all, and other times, for some reason, even though we are aware it is happening, it isn’t in our day to day…. so it isn’t till you happen to drive that way that you rediscover the “place” At that moment you often feel the past and present come together in a “wow” moment.

My husband proposed to me at the Chateau, in that second courtyard, as we overlooked the river and the historic landscape around us. It was enchanting. I was a princess, courted by her prince. It is a cherished moment, one I relived today, when I found the sealed envelope they gave me with his wedding ring, and I Ching piece he always wore. (after a funeral, this is what they do) I had completely forgotten…I had a past, and present moment that flashed through me when I found it in a drawer while looking for papers that I needed. =^_^=

First, Accept everything.... Life is filled with moments, sometimes happy and at times inconvenient. It is important to first accept every situation as it occurs and try to accept and understand it for what it is.

tools

I was reading a friends blog recently, he lives in Japan, and writes about the use of and the caring of good carving tools https://covingtonandsons.com/2019/10/04/sharpening-part-10-the-ura-%e6%b5%a6/ While reading his blog I was hit with the similarity of looking after one’s tools, and the maintaining of friendships. When we don’t look after our tools, they stop performing for us the way they were intended to perform. Especially a carving tool. A good crafts person, knows that it is essential he/she maintain his/her tools in good working order if the quality of work is to be preserved.

When a friendship is taken for granted, or mistreated, will it withstand the neglect or at times, miscommunication. In PL we learn that life is about us, and that we re responsible for our feelings. So I muse on if I feel slighted, or taken for granted, then it is up to me, to what…. dismiss the situation, put it aside and move on.

Not let it happen again, simply do not put your self in the position again. hmmmm the little voice says…. you could miss out on something…. you enjoy that friend. Did they intentionally set out to hurt you. The answer is no. It is simply their actions, were not appreciated by my sensitivities.

Darn being a philosopher is hard. I likely will opt for a good cry. Have a good nights sleep, and tomorrow, begin another day.

Now please everyone, don’t be sad or feel that I am blue.. I am living the moment, and will then move on. Life is too beautiful and inspiring, tomorrow I will be wide eyed and living my adventure.
