Jail and wedding chapel

18ad889be6f08a4a35f255affc17d275

Although I have heard during my lifetime, that some have found marriage to be very restrictive at times, and non to happy to be tied in what they have considered a “life sentence”.. when I saw this picture all I could think of was that somewhere, in years past, someone had a sense of humour.

We are the makers of our own destiny … we are the culprits that live with the challenges created by or from choices we have made. We are the leading characters, and sometimes even the directors of the scenes we are cast into.

There is a difference between being abandoned, and “lost in time”  When you abandon, you give up, you walk away, and don’t look back.   If we choose to recreate and live in a manner that is “lost in time”  we are happy with our choices.  When we abandon often the feelings are negative.

3e04fbe6724ecdc3312d3e7e7230654c

How does one go about changing a negative mind to a more positive mine.  Negativity can become a habit. Best solution is to begin now, one thought at a time.  If we feel a negative thought bubbling up, try to counter act it with a positive one.  At first it won’t be easy, but with time the positive outlook will win out.

Obstacles will go disappear, the rain will go away, and you will find that life will be lived in a much brighter world. All very poetic, but it does work, when we live putting a positive face to what we do…. we reap the benefits of all the work we did overcoming past negativities.

Colosso dell’Appennino

There are times in life when I can only sit, and look in wonder at what is before me.  This is a photograph found on pictify.com of a sculpture.  Colosso dell’Appennino in the Parco Mediceo di Pratolin near Florance Italy.  Sculptor Giamologna (1580)  credit given for photo is Dave Ellis.

Please allow me to share a poem with you by Margaret Ingall.

**Stillness is a doorway,

A space within the mind,

A place we may abide in

And leave the world behind

A realm of tender silence

Of nurturing and calm

Where hopefulness and healing

Enfold us in their balm

It waits for you to find it

Just let life’s hustle cease

And enter through that doorway

To wisdom and to peace.**

Day by day, find time to embrace the beauty that is in the world for us to see and enjoy.  We are on a journey of discovery, how we view our world will greatly impact on our perception of the life we are living.

PL Principle # 3 –  I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

sew…sow…so

sewing machine

Meet  Tabitha, a sewing machine (1886-1890) a work of art. The exquisite details, I wonder what it was like to work with. It looks like it must have been very heavy.

sewing machinem victorian weir pedestal treadle

This model is a Victorian Weir Pedestal Treadle machine, operated with your feet, it would have allowed for movement of the material with two hands.  Not that sewing isn’t a labour of love now, of course it is, but the modern-day  machines make sewing a little less tedious than it might have been in days gone by.

So much has changed, lifestyle, clothing, technology…. change is the only constant in life.… AND…. the constant blessings of living in a world where the “Universe/GOD” is “supreme”.

Let us pray that we can come together

openly with the same goal in mind

Peace on earth & goodwill to all

Sow the seed of fellowship in all you do

Be genuine in your actions, let love surround you..

like the seamstress or tailor

that sews with positive intentions

you can be a conduit that brings calm and serenity

to those around you.

Simplicity

If you are fortunate to be walking  or driving slowly by, the rhythmic sound of the horse’s hooves and the turning wheels is very pleasant.

Soft muted shades of the Amish clothes, to some is very soothing.  Laundry that hands outside to dry always has such a fresh smell to it.  Winters, laundry is hung under cover or outdoors, just as in other seasons.

When a large piece of a barn has to be moved, Amish men come together to carry it along the highway to its destination.  this was in the Kalona area of Iowa.

Simple, plain, no mirrors, the basics.

Now this is an Amish quilt I’d like to get a closer look at.  Wouldn’t you?

This brings back memories of days when we would see sights like this on country roads if we were driving through farm country.  The smell of freshly cut hay wafted through the car windows as we followed slowly along behind.  It gave us a wonderful opportunity to just sit back and coast along while taking in the sights around us.  When the farmer could, they would usually pull over and give us the OK to pass.397a1d0674177698d6c0725ed83cc7f2Noooooooooooooo, not what you think.    It is common in some Amish communities to allow the use of a telephone, but not in a home.  Several families will share a telephone, that is conveniently place in a small wooden shanty between the farms.  If there is a need to use the internet, there are usually libraries in nearby towns.

Sewing is done by hand or with a treadle sewing machine.  I was very humbled when invited into an Amish home.  I saw her machine and her home-made  quilting frame.  She worked at night by kerosene lamp and what ever light came in through the windows.  She told me she did most of her sewing and quilting in the winter months when there was less to do in the fields.

Simplicity – when was the last time you walked along a stream in your bare feet,  turned off all the lights at night and just enjoyed the evening stars.  There is a saying ” If you want something you’ve never had, then you have got to do something you’ve never done.”

Live your life!

Forget your age, and what others have to say..

Only you can make the changes in your life

To live life your way.

Happy Thanksgiving

f7b702e84622d90b41dda34477cfd230

When I keyed in the word Thanksgiving, my screen was instantly filled with pictures of food,  Very delicious tempting foods, from salads, veggie dishes to main dishes.  But I was looking for more. Even the crock pot BBQ Beer pulled chicken with cheddar corn popovers, tho’ yummy, was passed on.

crockpot BBQ Beer pulled chicken Thanksgiving I know is about gathering with friends and family to enjoy the bounty of a good fall harvest.  Often it is the last big feast before the holidays in December.

For members of PL (Perfect Liberty)  we celebrate Thanksgiving  every 21st of the month. 12 months of the year.   Why .. because it is an important reminder that we should always be thankful and grateful for the life we are living.  I came across a prayer the other day I would like to share part of it with you.

Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,

But to be fearless in facing them.

Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain,

But for the heart to conquer it.

Let me not look for allies in life’s battlefield

But to my own strength.

I am grateful every day for my friends, I count each and everyone of you as a friend.  I am truly blessed.  May the Universe grant you your prayers, this day and always.  Blessings …

“What do you want that for” my bemused son asked me, after I realized I didn’t have my iPhone with me and needed him to take the picture.  The old truck was sitting forlorn and cold under a blanket of snow. Other trucks in the auto wreckers had been picked clean, or partially dismantled, this one sat old, ignored and alone.

We had arrived at the pickers unprepared, we had no tools with us nor were we really dressed to wander through the back forty on this cold blustery day.  However, my son, knowing I wanted to see an auto wrecker’s yard, took me there after we had our lunch. “Just to look!”  Of course after signing in and we began to wander, my mind went into 2nd, then 3rd gear.

Metal beauties, some mangled more than others, doors gone, engines removed, seats, steering wheels, nothing of value was left if a picker was after the part.  Then I saw it an old Chevy grill with a blue logo on it.”oh honey” look? do you think we can get it off” by now, after years of his Mother, my son takes things in stride.  “we have no tools”..  “I know, but look” and I dashed back to an old truck we had seen along the way that had a bolt remover in its reject pile.  “what do you think” (doesn’t take much to get me excited and as pleased as a young gal in a dress shop)

I truly believe that if you really want something, there is always a way.  It took us several tries, but we got the grill off, and without damaging it.  Please note, my son’s ingenuity and desire to “get it done” helped. =^_^=  I was so chuffed.. my first trip to an auto wreckers, and I had a souvenir  !!!

4c011dc3a26425803c4558ab78a5176bSometimes in life, we see something that other’s don’t.  If it is something you want, really want, then go for it.  We are the masters of our destiny.

What do you see when you first look at the above picture?

Today I took a trip to anywhere, and had a good time. My friend said “where we going?”, my reply was “somewhere and anywhere”.  She accepted that, and was delighted in the results.

moving forward

path, by ojaipatrick on flickr

I hold my breath, close my eyes and count to ten

Will this anxiety ever end..

Somewhere out there, I know someone cares

Why, why is it when I look, no one is there

I read the other day that God is everywhere

In my prayers, I cry for help,

over and over I do my best to express my self

I think I am doing my best, and yet

there is the tiny tug inside my chest

that maybe, just maybe, I’m out of touch with my quest

that along the way I turned right when I should have gone  left

Pray with faith, is what  I’m hearing

listen with your heart, not your head

only then will you see the road ahead….

Yes of course, in you I’ll trust

only then will my life change, and you will lead me

to where I am meant to be, and I will be anxiety free.

Good morning everyone..l.

This is an artist I had not know before.  I thank  Upworthy ‘s curator Megan Kelley  for bringing her to my attention.  Stuttering is something that although I’ve known about it, I have had no personal experience with.  Megan Washington has done a stellar “job” of educating listeners on the challenges in her life.  she is an award winning Australian musician that until today I had not heard of.  I have now added her to my “singers of note” and will search out more of her artistic expressions

It is through having an enthusiasm for life that we grow.  Our appreciation of resourcefulness in ourselves and others, broadens our own horizons increasing our ability to experience spiritual freedom and inner joy in our lives.

Hjelle, Norway

norway

To dream, to wake, to live and follow the  trail

always aware, always prepared to stop and gaze

when my eyes would behold the object of my  quest.

life can be a dream, it really can,

one need only to believe, is Hjelle Norway so very far away?

some one else captured this moment in time

now here I am, enjoying the calm and serene

of this artists gift, of this captivating scene.

because a stranger shared

my day is blessed with time spent in

Hjelle Norway.

all because I followed the trail

and let God lead the way.

This is the PL Peace Tower at headquarters in Japan.  In 1970 the Second Founder oversaw the completion of the PL Peace Tower.   The Second Founder established the Federation of New Religious Organizations of Japan, he was appointed to the Commission for Religious Cooperation.  During his tenure he visited the Vatican three times, meeting both Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II to talk of World Peace.

The Peace Tower is a non-sectarian monument built at the PL Holy Land in Japan, it is dedicated to ALL from the beginning of time, who have lost their lives a s a result of war.
