Bonjour, hello how are you today?

Good Morning, thought I’d show you the snow outside the house today, it isn’t so pretty today. After the huge storm of the other day, dropping over 50 plus centimeters on us, we still have a lot of it piled on the streets. It is cloudy and overcast, and with the sidewalk plow having gone by, well this is what we can see. This is the pile along the street, and below is the snow on our front lawn.

The blue spruce is playing peek-a-boo, happy that we put a barrier between it and the sidewalk. Not every day is sunny, and not all days bring out the crystal lights in the snow. But it is still the same snow we love to see when the sun shines merrily on it, dazzling us with its glittering display. I’m not a skier, but when I did do X-country, the wet snow of day such as this, was sloppy. Temperatures are going up and the snow out there is being rained on.

Even the house has lost its country cottage charm this morning. A positive here, I see the bird feeder needs more seed. Actually, I loved the vintage, look when we bought ther house, and even today, as I see her braving yet another winter…I admire how she has stood the test of time. They the weather forecasters, tell us it will be a cloudy wet day, all day. As the temperature rises, the streets will really get mushy. Hmmm choices, stay in, go out, its darn warm and cosy inside, and I certainly have a lot of projects and things to do… isn’t it wonderful to have all these choices. =^_^= we can sit and share a cuppa tea/coffee..

Luckily I share my world with other bloggers who travel the globe and live scattered all over the world. I know they’ll be dropping in during the day with stories of their own. Many will bring a ton of sunshine they’ve captured here and there. No matter where we are in the world, we are always sharing life/the Universe with others. In today’s world of the internet and social media, we can cultivate and explore all parts of the world, make new friends, and best of all, we thrive, we grow when we allow friendships to blossom and bloom. In exploring the various dimensions of ourSELVES through the friendships we make, our world as we know it, expands, we know that what is outside our door today, is only a moment in time.. in this very same moment and time, a friend is basking in sunshine on a mountain top or sandy beach.

Hello.. imagine walking along and coming across this scene. This picture was taken in an abandoned amusement park. The dinosaurs in the park are made from fiberglass. the prehistoric park reportedly opened in the early 1960’s and closed in 1999. The sculptor was a James Q.Sidwell, when I came across the article, I thought. I wonder how he feels now that the park has just been abandoned, yes there are motion sensors to keep out vandals, but the creativity of the crew that put the park together .. has been left to return to nature.

I came across this bit of information because I followed the trail of this picture posted by Cyriaque Lamar (4.27.10 filed to Modern Ruins) for more reading on this piece you can read the original post here. When we come across these “wonders” we can only guess at the reason they closed their doors.

As an artist I’ve learned that every day is a new canvas. In PL. PL Precept # 1 is LIFE IS ART Every day is a new beginning,to be able to accept and delve into the challenges of the day, makes us stronger, and better people. Learning to let go, is not easy. The above picture (nuevomundotours.com) is of the Inca trail in Peru. I remember a time when I searched through books, and checked travel guides for how I could get to Peru. I never got there, and my life has not been any poorer because that desire didn’t come to pass. It was a passion, it passed, replaced by something else … that took me in another direction, and filled my life at the time.

Just because we want something today, doesn’t mean that if it is not meant to be, we should be lost and devastated. Rather, appreciate the desire, the passion, enjoy the moment, capture it if you must, but be ready and willing to let it go’

Freedom is a state of mind.

When you can allow yourself total immersion

in the moment

the JOY of life will be with you always

Love is being ONE

Life is Art, Vida es Arte

This is a picture of the artist Frida Kahlo, who at the age of 18 had her life completely changed, due to an accident. She had been intending to attend University and become a doctor. The accident changed all that, she was hospitalized for some time, over her short life, she possibly underwent some 30 surgeries. Her life and her art can easily be found by sourcing google.

In this picture with the use of a mirror she is painting on her body cast. She had a life full of drama and adventures her name was linked with many public figures. Always she painted for herself, she is quoted as saying “I paint self portraits because I am so often alone… because I am the subject I know best”

Another of her statements ” I am not sick, I am broken, but I am happy to be alive, as long as I can paint”

When I read about her, and saw her work, I could see the pain in her work, she was known to work slowly, patiently and she expressed her pain, emotional and physical, through her works. Born in Mexico, it was where she wanted to be, and that is where she died. She created some 200 paintings,drawings and sketches all related to her personal experiences in life. When reading about her life, we see adjectives/words, like turbulent, painful, colourful. I saw determination and need to express….

This is by another artist that has made history with his work. Rodin. This is the marvelous piece called “L’Eternelle Idole” I implore you if you want to read more about this piece to visit, The Alchemist’s Pillow The words written to describe this sculpture brought it to life even more, then by just looking at it and taking in it’s every nuance.

Everyone is an artist, only our way of expressing what we see, feel and think, is different. Unique to each one of us.

Great day, wonderful day, no phone.. yup, phone company told me in a couple of days they would cut off the land line and transfer the home number to my cell phone. Today we found we could not call out, nor call in. YAY, transfer done…………. no……………….uh uh……… hmmm my cell phone has no service at all. LOL… is this a gift or what. Come on guys, no calls, in or out… silence.

Come on.. what better way to spend the day. Keep the fire going baby … This gal is going to chill…. PL Precept #19 Begin Once you Perceive and, PL Precept #4 Being annoyed limits your expression. I’m having a great day and I’m hoping you are too.

Bom dia, tudo bem? how are you today?

incredible holiday

Never judge a book by its cover…. our room was clean, big, it had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, big screen telly and internet. Oh and two big queen size beds. It was just off the big super highway when we turned off on to hwy 15 going into Kingston. This was our view from the balcony ..it wasn’t the time year to be sitting on the balcony but.. wanted to share this with you. The road you see there is the hwy. where you can’t see off to the left is the super one. Yes, we were constantly hearing cars, trucks etc. driving past. In the morning, we were treated to the activity of the heavy equipment being started up. It was all good, we enjoyed ity all.

The pictures were taken early morning, the day following our arrival. Kingston is a popular tourist attraction especially in the summer, and it is not only a military base, but swarming with the activity of the Universities and the buzz of student life. for more on the city you can check out this link

As wonderful as the city is, we were there to treasure hunt and chill. Eartha (name changed to protect the innocent) and I were on an adventure, and yes we included some craft shopping (Michaels) We were in our glory, on the days we were there we encountered nothing but discount days, one store had 75% off, another 50% then the next day or was it the day before it was 40%. It is not the you spend a lot, it is the thrill of the hunt. Some of you will get this, others I know will just shake their darling heads (Hello B!)

Everything was a positive. The internet was iffy in our lodgings, but we were still able to have a giggle, and what messages I did retrieve were so appreciated. We had been told to expect snow, rain, freezing rain, but all day everywhere we were the sun shone down on us, blessing our day with warm sunshine, blue skies, friendly people, we laughed, we talked, and we ate.

We found this restaurant called the Mandarin (no it was not lost) it was just new to us. =^_^=…. Chinese New Year as most of you know by now is coming up Feb. 7 in China, 8th here. Already the celebrations have begun. It is a big restaurant (franchised) that means the different Mandarins, for example there is a big one near here in Orleans, are owned by different people. This one, was in full-blown celebration mode, with the red lanterns and the red symbols of good luck, prosperity, health and happiness festooned all over in all the rooms.

Yes, there were different rooms with different themes, on our last day we sat in the Fish room. Huge divider of tropical fish and Chinese wall mural of fish. The servers and attendants were all in smart well pressed uniforms of Chinese red, the ladies sported tops in Chinese brocade, everyone had training in how to greet guests, the special bow, the hot towels prior to eating and then another fresh hot towel after the meal. the service was 1st class excellent! The owner made the rounds, welcoming everyone, and offering the traditional red envelopes. A grand experience.

It was a wonderful time away, it wasn’t the destination, but the getting there. Once there it wasn’t our physical environment, but the sense of happiness and friendship that carried us through the various things we did. The discoveries we shared. We didn’t think about tomorrow, we lived the moments and therefore, we were constantly celebrating the “wonders ” of the day.

The start of a new year should always be a celebration of new beginnings and the renewal of the joy in our hearts. We sweep out the old and bring in the new. According to Chinese tradition, a red envelope is a symbol of luck. When we give someone a red New Year envelope, we are wishing them good health, wealth and luck for the coming year.

We got two on our trip. yahhhhhhooooo, double luck! KUNG HEI FAT CHOY !!!

Bom dia, good day everyone!

A day filled with sunshine, that is one thing about winter mornings … the sun comes streaming into my office showering the office with a happy glow that is so inspiring and welcoming. The dried black fungus and fish mah is soaking so it will rejuvenate and be ready for a meal later… my iced coffee is watered down just like I like it.. What a super fantastic start to the day.

Another week, I can hardly believe that we are in the second half of the month. I was reading the calendar’s lesson for the 17th. (yesterday) Tente mais um pouco.. Persevere without giving up .. Persista un poco mas (a has an accent my keyboard doesn’t) smiles, nothing will stop me today, I feel so positive and HAPPY. In fact most days, I realize I am HAPPY . I like being HAPPY.

I had a Skype conversation with a friend the other day and was totally blown away by an experience she had. I listened carefully because I knew the people involved. It had been a negative experience at the time, but she was wise, in having let it go… and in a most positive way was moving on with her life. She explained the situation in a factual way.. and took responsibility for her part in it. I knew there was a reason I had liked her from the beginning when we first met. =^_^=

Of course, there is never just one side to a story, just as beautiful as this little black kitty looks, relaxed and resting, in another moment or two, the view we could witness would be very different indeed.

I plan on having a great day, there is a lot to do and be done, but, first things first, I was not going to let another day go by without saying how much I appreciate you … and thank you for sharing time with me.

There is something about this picture that draws my eye I want to be there

True I’m not a swimmer I don’t usually seek out water, but there is something here

that makes me want to be sitting there in the sunlight, basking in the sun

minus the people there, I think I would like to be there one my own

I imagine that there would be a quiet, and a serenity, with perhaps the sounds of wild life

coming in from above. Maybe people off in the distance, but not right there.

It is not always easy these days to find places that exude quiet, tranquility.

You’ve hard or read that David Bowie passed away, after a somewhat lengthy battle with cancer.

One of his songs that made the biggest impression on me was Space Oddity, it came out in the late 60’s but I didn’t really know it till much later. When I did hear it, it stuck with me.

David’s Space Oddity I hope you are able to click on this link and hear the song. the other song he did was China Girl, which he wrote in France. David sings China Girl I was young enough to day dream about what the song meant to him in his life.

I’ve never been to Texas. After seeing this picture of the Narrows, near or in Austin area, I think I’d like to explore more. That is what life is all about isn’t it. Travelling through life, enjoying the different adventures and challenges that come our way.

At a function this evening I met up with a friend who told me she was going to call it quits, “really!” I exclaimed, “you just partnered!!” ” after a silence, she replied “yes but I have only seen him for about half an hour in so many days.” “but, isn’t it about the quality of your time?” “No, if I’m going to be on my own, I can do that by myself”

Sound familiar? I don’t see life that way, I feel that when we have friends, we enjoy them to the fullest whether they are with us or not. It is not for their physical presence that we care about them, it is for the person they are. Each and every person in your life is a gift. I myself am responsible for my happiness. If I am not happy it is my choice, it is not someone else’s fault, it is my own.

Good morning everyone, I found this in my research today. It was posted 4 years ago on the Parabola (The Search for Meaning) site on tumblr.

How well said, and so simply .. it brings us back once more to the individuality of each of us, and how our cultures shape our thinking.

However that said, we are not back living in a time when the differences were not known, researched, studied, and documented. This is 2016 an electronic age, we can sit in our homes and watch documented reports of what is going on around us. There are thousands of published reports, books, magazines, videos and spoken story books. There is no reason for us to not know about our neighbours.
