are you overdoing?

I no longer even ask how they manage to get such wonderful shots. I simply accept that it is a gift that we are fortunate they share with us.

Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things, but you may be imposing on others as well.

The bird appears to be looking in a mirror. How often have I looked in a mirror and wondered at who that was looking back at me. It happens. We all have our own way of seeing ourselves. Sometimes I look but don’t see anything. That happens too. When I am overdoing, “pushing the envelope” I can actually see the “weariness” …. what I am working on is “listening” to what I feel, and see. The cardinal is obviously doing some wondering himself.

Have a great day everyone.

breakfast, yes shrimps are huge.. fresh basil, home made soup, gingered egg, the soup is from Farm Boy ..Hot Pot …

Being…

Unexpected upside of having something happen you didn’t expect. There is always another way of seeing something, or experiencing an event that effectively changes something inside of us. At the time we may not link it to anything in particular, it is when we are least expecting it.. that the “light” will go on, and we will wonder.. how? where? what happened??

For me, nature promotes calm and well being. I can simply get out of my car and stand still (when in the woodlands) . if I’m lucky to have the area to myself, once the birds realize that I’m not going to do anything but enjoy being there with them, the cacophony of sounds begins… the cadence and rhythm of the songs/cries changes as the community regroups and begin going about their daily business,

Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

The other morning, I was greeted with a peaceful quiet . as I drank it all in…. off in the deep distance, over the tree tops and through the many layers of tree trunk and branches came the distinct sound of an owl calling/speaking….. Till that moment I had never heard an owl, I was awed.

Friday 25th.

Arrived at an empty parking lot and was greeted by the sound of a busy woodpecker. In the distance I could hear the honking of Canada Geese. I got to the water’s edge in time to see them taking off from an open patch of water on the distant shore. It was cool enough, I tried to find the porcupine that used to bide his time up one of the very old and tall evergreens near by, but if he was there, he was well out of sight.

I came across a video the other night on YouTube… it was a woman talking about her life experiences and how at over the age of 60 – life was different, her thoughts were different and she was offering advice on things that one should never do after the age of 60. Curious I hit play to see what would be so different. She did offer a couple of good suggestions (I only listened for a few minutes) DON’T LIVE IN THE PAST was her first offering, Personally I don’t see this as wisdom to be practiced only after you reach 60. Your thoughts?

Overcast and gloomy here, but.. I don’t care. I’m off to the woods. Till soon.

I actually took a long walk around the bog the other day. It was quiet, the sky was a clear blue, not a cloud in sight. I took my time, treating myself to my own thoughts. Letting my mantra slip in and out, a gentle whisper .. I repeated it.. quietly, letting the sounds carry through the crisp morning air. I encourage others to meditate, make time for themselves.. and I am guilty of not always doing so myself.

Today at a concert, the performer was having a difficult time getting his equipment to function as it should.. sensing his frustration, without saying anything out loud or to anyone, I focused on him and said a silent prayer… He told me later, that he thought he would have to cancel, he’d been trying everything, and then .. bingo.. 2 minutes before air time, he was connected and everything fell into place. (nope never said a word to him… but I know prayer helped..)

I do believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking. I do believe that we are composed of an energy field that wraps itself around us, how we think, feel and act.. affects this energy field. I’ll go even further to say, that music .. which to me, is also “energy” can be a positive influence in our lives.

The bench you see above is at one of the conservation areas I go to. I pass it often. seldom do I take advantage of it.. I prefer instead to walk a little further and sit on one that is further in the woods and often secluded and shielded from the other visitors to the centre.

Are you making time for yourself.? . Are you smiling from within… does the smile on your face, reach and radiate from your eyes?

Here is song to send you into a “dream” space https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=MqgdQnu-Idw&feature=share It is called another Dance in Paris by Dave Renz featuring Larry Marshall

I have always (ok almost always) listened to music with words.. Dave has been introducing me to instrumentals. This is one he wrote for his Dead Drop recordings.

But…

Female spent all this past fall and winter on her own with other birds but no other Grosbeaks.

Think of the timing before you say.. “but… ” When stating your opinion, make sure you are being respectful of others’ opinions. Be mindful of this when you speak.

Perfect Liberty 2022.14

How do we know .. myself and another “birder” went every day to where she was.. waited for her to come out of hiding.. and watched until she ate. Then went on our way. We hoped another Grosbeak would come along, spend time with her.. but none came.. I did hear that there was a sighting of a large gathering of Grosbeaks over on the Quebec side across the river from where we were.. but none ventured away from the group.

With the warmer weather, I am wondering if she will eventually move along – so far, she is staying put.. she has done well, still healthy looking and spends her time eating with other “ground” feeders. all smaller birds.. but she seems at ease with them.. Interesting how she has won our hearts – simply by being “herself”… She has become a “little star” for the photographers who are lucky to catch a glimpse of her.

day 5

Mindfulness – is this a start to your journey of mindfulness, or have you been at it for years -it is time to access calm, to feel more grounded. Mindfulness is the practice of repeatedly returning your focus to the present moment without judgement or criticisms.

Originally stemming from Buddhist roots, the practice has evolved – there is a “Way” for each and everyone … small steps.. begin by being aware.

Being Present

Photographer Daniel Cadieux https://www.dancadphotography.com/blog/

I met this photographer some time back, even before I saw his website and his Instagram, I was impressed with his focus and attention to detail. He could look up into the tree tops and point out the birds looking back at us. I actually didn’t even notice him at first, he had been standing a few feet away from me … just observing waiting … I was at the feeders.. tending the birds.

Over time I got to see him often enough that we got to speak to one another. He shared some of his pictures and I was an immediate fan. The other day I found him (minus zero weather) on the ground along a country side road in much the same position as you see him above, but waiting for the robins and their friends to return to a small puddle of open water to drink and bathe. His patience and attention to the moment is so keen.. I am always reminded when I meet up with him.. that I need to slow down and take in the moment, I will only get one chance at it.

Take action without thinking too hard. No matter how hard you try to foresee the future, you really don’t know how things will turn out. Do your best and see how it plays out..

Sometimes the simplest of tasks are the hardest of all. Can you close your eyes right now for a few seconds, smile to yourself, and say Thank YOU. Try it. Promise it won’t hurt.

Love everyone – I want to be a person who can love, be kind, and forgive anyone without discrimination. When we love ourselves and everyone, “peace and welfare forever” will surely be realized.

lesson 2022.02.15 translated to English in Japan

[Fate (divine work) can be pioneered] There are joys and difficulties in life, and how you express yourself is a turning point in your destiny. If you take this from the bottom of your heart, it will be a mirror and things will get better. To open up your destiny, you have to be grateful for everything that appears before you, and do your best in prayerfully and with all your might.
