club challenge

Once upon a time2

Good morning everyone…

A couple of weeks back I was reminded that the club challenge, or “theme” this year was Once Upon a Time.  As you all know I am rather occupied these days, getting to know first hand living with cancer in my LIFE.  However, the idea was one that stuck with me for a for a few days,  & I found that I was gathering up “pieces”  in my “studio”.

In PL you know there is Precept, # 19, BEGIN ONCE YOU PERCEIVE

I reflected on how once the bathroom was a very “NEW” concept in a lot of homes.  there was a time when people used an “out house”  Some were very primitive, but they were a place where one could have privacy when needed.

When people could afford the indoor plumbing, it was often something that had to be fit into an existing home.  Reinvention of space, closets were repurposed, or a larger room if the family could afford to do so was partitioned for the new plumbing.

Toilet, sink, was for the most part what went in, some homes could accommodate a bath tub, but not often,  Families of 4,5,6 even more, lived in small 1 and 2 bedroom flats. The war-time houses were usually small two, three bedroom bungalows. Kitchen, living room, small bathroom and  two bedrooms.

The bathroom was really the only room where when you went in, you were alone, at least for a short time.

Then came the telephone, it was only available here and there, when you got one in your home, it was attached to a wall, or smack in the living room.. no such thing as  much privacy,.  Then the extensions came along, and you could put a phone in another room, the younger generation would try to pull the cord into the bathroom so they could have   conversations with their friends without being overheard by siblings and/or adults

Dad got to read his newspaper in quiet, till the room was needed by someone else. Once upon a time the bathroom was a very “special” place.  Now in modern homes, in today’s society, everyone wants their own bathroom, and guess what,  it is only used for “immediate” needs (like the outhouses of old) and vacated.  Usually the bathrooms are cold, efficient, sterile and lacking in any “family” character or warmth.  They are functional!

Thus my contribution to “Once Upon a Time” was conceived and put into a visual expression.

Life is ever changing, roll with the changes, all while trying to retain the art of  “caring” (sharing)

exercise in Nothing

nothing 1Good morning everyone.. thinking to be smart, I thought I would take a picture of nothing (* wink) =^_*=     I believe that nothing is always something.

Aim at the sky.  darn, even when I thought it was open space.. look, its sky with different hues of blue. look even the sun peaked in.

hmmm nothing on the door, let’s take a picture of nothing there.

nothing 7. door 5.7Little rascal,

evades me again, Nothing is the door!

OK, I spun around quickly and shot Nothing behind me..

nothing 3Can you see Nothing…

Nope, concrete, wood and vegetation.  Nothing is always SOMETHING.

So, next time someone  asks you, “what are you doing” and you say “NOTHING” ………………………. or when you are asked, what are you thinking, and you reply “NOTHING” ………………………. what are you saying, what do you mean?

NOTHING IS ALWAYS SOMETHING

patience

may 3

Being on the receiving end of two sets of eyes patiently waiting, determined not to let me take a bite without my knowing they are watching, is cute.  And for me it is a visual lesson in patience.

Where some dogs have been known to beg, these two don’t.  They just sit and watch me. I am sure every morsel of food is counted (in a canine way).. do the chopsticks go to my mouth, or  is the piece being redirected to a napkin, that “just could” be their reward for being so patient.

There is a shrimp dish that is cooked with the whole shrimp, that has been lightly battered.  This dish they are particularly aware of, they know I will share the heads and tails with them.  Until I actually  say their names, they will just sit patiently knowing that they will be rewarded.

Other times when I am busy enjoying every little tid bit, I am fascinated to see that my usual dinner mates, have no interest at all, and have curled up to nap.  They instinctively  know, that there will be no sharing.

Do we, pay as much attention to those around us, are we aware of their habits, the different ways they speak or do things, are we flexible in our ability to adjust to the energy around us easily?  Are we considerate of others?  Is it our natural response to the daily encounters that pop us during our day.  Can we put away our “ego” when it is perhaps getting in the way of a sincere exchange.

Sometimes what we say and what we are thinking are not in sync.  This leads to misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

Do you attract, happy or unhappy people in your sphere?  Questions, a lot of questions, I know, but beginning the day with a short meditation/reflection…. is always a positive start to the day.

Forever Young

Alo May 2_003

Some times I am just too cute for words!  =^_^=

Day 2  PL Calendar –  Be forever Young and Seek New Challenges

The world is constantly in motion and never rests.  Keep your senses sharp and be ready to adapt to the every changing world.

I  so truly believe in these words.  One of the reasons I enjoy Second Life so much (virtual world) click here is the opportunities it gives me to express my artistic self, as well, as be anyone, or any “creature” I want.  The  creative opportunities are endless.

Every day, we live our lives usually dealing with the immediate needs that come our way.  To keep our senses sharp and be ready to adapt, we have to be willing to “let go” of old habits, and to allow new ideas and expressions to colour our world.

Little steps.  One day at a time.

me and you

april 25. Q china dream

There are days when I am not really the person that I think I am.  Instead I am far away in another land.

On one hand, I feel no pain, and roam free across the plains

On the other, I am grounded, focused on the sounds all around  me

who am I really, I can be here and everywhere

nothing can hold me back, there is nothing that I lack

“PL Calendar day 1 ” Harmony leads to World Peace

It is important to lie in harmony with our surroundings.  The basis of a peaceful society is to maintain harmonious relationships.

It is true, no matter where we are, how far the distance, I will always love YOU.

appreciation & gratitude

Happy Wednesday everyone….

PL Precept # 11 Always be with God

PL Precept # 18  Each Moment is a Turning Point.

The pictures tell the story.  If you have never experienced an air bag hitting you full on, then I suggest you try hard not to experience.  It hurts.  Not only did it leave me disoriented, I will have the sharp ache for the next while as a reminder, that  I was very blessed to have been able to get out on my own, and walk to the ambulance.

The first responders were amazing.  I can’t say enough about their kindness, and the care they took to ensure I was looked after.  Always ensuring I felt safe and as comfortable as I could be.  They even saw to my getting home to my husband, who was at home unable to do anything but anxiously await news.

I wish that I could personally call all my friends who have been wondering what has happened,  but with the current situation of the setting up of the home care for “end of Life”  it has been very busy, with people coming and going.  Both husband and myself  exhausted come end of day.

Tomorrow the palliative care doctor is going to make her first house call. =^_^=

Everyone is kind, caring and compassionate.  For this we are grateful ..and appreciate each and every thoughtful gesture that has been directed our way.

day 20

Day 20  PL Calendar

You are YOU, Others are Others

You have your own way of doing things, and others have their way of doing things.  Don’t worry about what other people will say.  Simply take care of the task at hand.

268f260c0df0478db6148f1776d78360

And that is the reality.  That is just the way  it is.  Our experiences, our past shapes our future….  Make each moment count.  Live each day with new “eyes” … be open to new experiences, choices, we all have them…

Tomorrow is the 21st  For members of Perfect Liberty, we celebrate with a Thanksgiving Service.  We give thanks and show our appreciation for the blessings of the past month, while sincerely renewing our determination to follow and practice the Precepts and Principles of PL.

Be Calm, Be Kind without compromising

Hesitating to share our true feelings hurts not only ourselves but others.  While respecting the other person’s feelings say what you need to say.

Life is what we make of it.  Life is full of challenges and opportunities.  Seize the day, make every second count.

Thank you to each and every one of you who has taken the time to write and ask me how my husband is doing.  There is nothing more that can be done to “stall” or “stop” the cancer.. it is doing what it has set its mind to do.

My husband we hope will come home this week for palliative care with a team of health care workers who come to the home, including a palliative care physician. Should it get to be too much to handle in the home environment, we will move on to the next step .

Blessings to each and every one of you.  Your caring, your support, is so appreciated. We hold you near and dear, each ray of energy you send our way is caught up and embraced with love.  We return the love to you a hundred fold. OYASHIKIRI

being attentive

april 14Pl Calendar day 15

Being Attentive Makes life more enjoyable

Live life paying careful attention to every detail, be it big or small.  By doing so, you will be able to experience the subtle joy in things.

My studio mate.  She patiently sits waiting to observe, or comment on the goings on in the studio.  Lately she is watching me try my  hand at acrylic “pouring”.. I am working on being attentive, trying to learn a new technique.  Still not sure how I feel about it, but that is what life is, trying something new, if it clicks with me, I’ll pursue it, if not.. I’ll move on.  I  am practicing the art of “letting go”

How about you, tried anything new recently? Are you engaged, attentive in your day-to-day activities…..   …….. Here is wishing you a wonderful Sunday.
