MC found this door on her travels. I loved the charm of its simplicity, It seems to stand there and say, I’m here, enter if you must. I’ve done my best to give you access, but the joys lie within, IF you gain entrance. Functional and proud. A no nonsense door, solid to the core. the touch of green .. is a seed that took root and was not to be deterred. Personality plus don’t you think!!! Even the steps make a statement.

“Your surroundings are a mirror of your thoughts. When you think “This is going to be hard” then your situation will become difficult. Instead, think, “let’s do this!” and face your situation with determination. then you will be surprised to see how smoothly things go.”

“2 monks were walking along the bank of a swift river. There they met a young woman w ho could not cross alone. One of the monks picked up the young woman and carried her across the river to the other side.

Sometime much later, the other monk said to his companion, “did you forget that it is against the rules to touch a woman?” Have you forgotten the vows you have taken?”

The other monk answered, “Brother , I eft the young woman on the bank of the river once we crossed. Why are you still carrying her in your mind?” (The Irish get up and go diary 2019)

Hello!

A gift (picture) from a friend who was travelling. A picture can tell a story, and this one was especially vocal, can you just imagine the joy at finding this inviting swing to sit and enjoy a quiet moment in time while you are wandering and exploring. Many of you are writers … does this scene not conjure up a couple of story lines … It is romantic and mysterious at the same time. Share your thoughts if you find it twigs an idea. I know she was travelling somewhere in Europe, for sure I get an old time vibe. Can’t wait to get time with her to hear about her adventure.

Smiles are the world’s treasure. If you smile more, there will be more smiles in the World. Be one of those who makes more smiles.

memories

My Mother had a dream, she wanted a round house, when finally it was being built for her, her husband passed away. He had been the builder of this dream house. My Mother lost two husbands, my father when I was only 10 and she had two other young girls, my sisters at the time would have been 6 and the youngest maybe 2. My Dad has been the provider, he worked and she was the home-maker, back then … this was life. The woman stayed home to raise the family

A young widow she had to go out into the world and find employment and keep her family together. Not an easy task. But with the help of friends, she managed, she found work with the government, and worked her whole life dedicated to providing for her family. This house, was to be her retirement it was on the banks of the Ottawa River, nestled in the hills, away from city life.

We can dream and we can plan for the future, but… the lesson I have learned in life is that each moment counts, and tho’ we plan for another day, the reality is… that day may never come. My Mother passed away a few months before my husband passed away, so its been about 6 years now.. she was in her very late 90’s. She never talked of what was, and she never complained. If ever I needed an example of stoic, that was my Mom.

Life can be very fragile. We should never take it for granted. If anything, I learned that today should always be important, Make every second count,

“Now” is always the start of something new. Leave the past in the past. What is important is “what you are going to do now.” Using the present as a starting point, move forward on a path towards improvement and progress.

I went back years later to see if the old house still stood, I titled the photo. When dreams die.

um pouco mais?

Leaves have started to change, there is a new nip to the air that hints that it won’t be long, already the days are shorter. When I wake up now, 5 ish, it is still dark outside. There are still pesky mosquitos lingering, but soon I am hoping to see the last of them.. man they are annoying.

PL Principle #2 I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather. I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions. (always a work in progress for me)

How is your start to a week-end? Hopefully you will enjoy not only good weather but some of the fall fairs and concerts that are happening around the city.

Your willingness to learn will make you shine even brighter. As long as you are motivated to learn more, you will continue to progress in life.

Be creative in your efforts. If something is not going well, take a step back and look at how you are tackling the problem. There is sure to be something you can improve on

Acceptance

Here I sit day after day, helping people make their way through another day.

Does anyone ever see me, can anyone relate to what it is to be ignored in every way.

Did you know that once I was a seed, and then I grew into a full grown tree.

Oh, I felt so free, my limbs reached to the sky.

In spring I would grow these beautiful leaves that would stay with me all through summer and most of the fall.

I had a multitude of visitors that would come to take shelter of just sit a spell, and share the day with me

All the changed for me, when one day someone noticed how strong and tall I was…

I felt so proud, I preened and spread my arms even wider.

To my shock and dismay, I was cut to the ground, my beautiful bark was ripped from my body and I was laid bare.

Oh this is a beauty I heard it exclaimed, then to my horror I was passed through a mechanical monster who cut me into pieces.

I was shipped with others who had met my fate into a large open space where we lay stripped of our dignity and actually ignored

What was my future to be, I heard the talk, in the yard I was in, I could become part of a floor, a wall, I was no longer a tree, I had become an object to be used.

Then one day, I was shipped off to an area that was filled with tall trees and vegetation .. I was back in the woods where I could hear and see the birds and animals who used to visit with me, I was so happy….

Here I was cut up again, so parts of me lay in one place and another further down the way, I was going to be part of a walkway that cut across an expanse of land called a bog.

I was going to be useful again, I was going to be able to feel the wind, and all the wonderful elements of nature again.

I soon realized that it wasn’t like being a tree where I stood tall reaching for the heavens, where people would gaze at me in wonder at my strength and beauty and take shelter under my many limbs when the sun got too hot, or if the rains were too unrelenting.

No, I was a convenience, and many never even glanced at me or my beautiful markings.. some even took pleasure in trying to disfigure me.

I’ve grown old, you can see the tired lines in my face. If you look even closer, you will see the acceptance of my fate.

Thank you for listening to my story, if even one of you looks kindly on one of my peers, then my life has not been in vain.

Should you come visit, I hope to still be around, I may have a couple of seasons left in me.. who knows.. life is what it is after all, I have lived a good life, .. and look I got to share some time with you today, so its a good day!

Rugged rocky countryside. The terrain is so different when we drive along the highway on the Quebec side of the river. It is a short distance to travel to feel the call of the wild and the outcrop of rocks that once beckoned me to climb. For a time I wanted to climb a frozen waterfall. Did I ever get to do it, no, but I sure thought of it a lot,

Thinking about doing something and doing it, are not the same thing, With the interviews that keep appearing on my screen that Robbie gave (Robbie Robertson) over the last years of his life, there is always the mention of Levon (Levon Helm) I don’t remember Levon all that well, it was Robbie who spent time talking to me, and telling me stories and about his desire to bring his music and stories to places he had yet to see or experience. Good on him he did it, and he did it with determination and a desire to do what he needed to do to accomplish his dreams.

We lost touch, so I don’t know how hard or difficult his dream was to achieve, but he did what he wanted to do, loved doing, and from all the press, he was successful. He wore his scars and told his stories always with pride of his heritage…

Time has a way of blurring the lines.. softening the memories of the struggles and hard moments in our history. That is why I focus on living every day as best as I can. I want no regrets.. I still can’t climb that frozen waterfall, but I can enjoy the memory, when it pops up in my now very full “book of memories”

I know the internet wants to be our everything. It isn’t. When the power goes out, you have only your thoughts/memories … cherish them.

Express your feelings straight away. It will be good if you could express your feelings as they are to people around you when you are happy or when you are troubled. Also, it will be a good chance for you to get to know others,

ps. I am asked where do the PL quotes come from that I use every day. They are published in Japan at the PL headquarters (Osaka), this year translations into English was done there also.

Healing

Have you ever stood by a cascading water fall, heard the rushing of the water over the rocks, as it travels over the many boulders and dips into the valleys it travels over. it is an awesome feeling to follow its path towards its destination where-ever that may be. It flows with an abandon that is beyond its control, it simply lives in the moment.

After a fall when you’ve hit your head, the healing process is much the same, the body has been shaken your whole system has to rebalance itself. The task before you is trusting in your inner voice, listening to what you can and cannot do… the biggest for me, is to practice PATIENCE.

Todays calendar reminds me… “to start with what I can do” and to think before i take action…

The path to achievement is “to start with what you can do” Try to find out what you can do towards challenges in your own situation. This will pave the way for achievement.

Happiness dear friends, is sharing with YOU. thank YOU!

Japanese curry soup

Oh dear, I hesitated on posting this, but the soup turned out to be so delicious… I thought why not. Coming from a culture that loves its soups (Chinese)… my Mom was a wiz at pulling together a soup for almost any occasion, and usually it involved left overs and of course always rice. After my trips to Japan, I developed a taste for Japanese Curry. Since I am currently dealing with a mild concussion, I don’t feel like cooking or eating even, but being the mature .. responsible adult I am… I know I have to eat. So for the last many days I have had a soup going on the stove.

My first soup was a rice, mushroom and chicken soup, it was cooked up much like a congee… and would take from the pot a bowl every time I felt I should eat. That was eaten up… and I needed to come up with another easy peasy soup..

I found a cabbage sitting forlornly in my fridge… I chopped it up with a lonely carrot that was in the crisper and put it on the stove to simmer while I got ready to go to church… ( my symptoms were such I never made it to church, I got about 2 miles away from home and turned back.)

I turned the burner under the pot of cabbage soup back on.. and looked around for what to do with it so that I could let it cook and have myself a tempting cuppa when I got hungry. I spied box of Japanese curry in the pantry. (it comes in flat squares) I had one square left. The Japanese curries come in mild, medium and spicy, This was a mild piece. I added it to the broth.

I also found a couple of small pieces of pork liver that I had cooked a few days ago, that got chopped up and added along with what was left of the Tim Horton’s chicken noodle soup a friend brought me yesterday. I cut up a nice fresh potato into thin strips and added that too.

Letting that simmer. I came in to my office to do the blog, the aroma of the soup called me back to the kitchen. It is delicious. I took a picture of it after I realized that it was yummy and really hit the spot. It was so good that I almost demolished what was made this morning… so … I have now put in what is left of the congee and added a chicken garlic broth (Campbells) so that I will have enough to dip into for the rest of the day,

When I made the congee I had also used dried beancurd sticks.. So there will be some sticks in this new batch, can’t wait to try that later.. I’ll let is simmer for awhile.. the flavours will be richer in doing so, In the congee there was also dried chinese mushrooms and shrimps…that had been soaked and added… it will be a whole new taste delight for me to enjoy later,. Especially combined with what is left of the Japanese Curry broth. .OOOH OOH YUMMY.

Because of the way we make up our homemade soups… they never come out the same way each time, that is what makes them soooooo wonderful.

Make the best use of materials and money. You can do different things as materials and money play their roles. How to make them work is important.

the little green bits you see .. fresh garlic shoots cut up into tiny bits so that you get that tangy hit of garlic, you put it on (if you like garlic) fresh as a topping when you serve.

I added no salt.

wandering mind

Take a moment to just enjoy this visual. Let your mind capture the endless sky and the rippled beach.

Come sit by my side – we will travel the extensive universe by simply climbing on the breeze that is fluttering by

No, don’t try to speak, let the moment happen

For in this time and space, we can let go, letting thoughts come and go without hinderance or manipulation …think of the thought as only words without meaning, without sound

When we unclutter the mind, new possibilities and opportunities will come forward

a calm and mindfulness will settle over us … we will destress and unwind

This is a good visualization if you tend to work too hard or too long

Calmness involves bringing perspective to our day to day goals.

Acknowledge your strengths.

listening

Friends are visiting overseas. Nick knows my love of doors and interesting architecture, he sent this along yesterday. Today with the pouring rain and dull overcast sky … I looked at the window and felt a longing to linger … let the sounds of the far away city and the ambience carry me away … Ever wonder what it would be like to drift silently along, passing open windows … hearing snitches of conversation float past you… it would be nice to just let the mind wander and rest on a thought here and there, not focus on anything but ” being present” to whatever vibrations/energy comes your way.

With so many of us dealing with a multiple myriad of “possibilities” every day… taking a breather is so important. I overheard two people talking the other day about their pending holiday. “it will great, we leave at X time, then IF our connections work out, we will travel approximately another 10 hours, before landing in XX and from there we shuttle for another hour… ” I found myself shaking my head and thinking… so much time in transit… I hoped that after all of that, they would have allotted plenty of time for chilling before making that same journey back.

It is wonderful that we can now get to almost any corner of the globe. But no one has yet been able to convince me that cramming thousands of miles in a short period of time is “restful”… especially when often times we have only a limited amount of time to be on “holiday”. Guess I’ll be an arm chair traveller for some time… I love hearing about the travel exploits of friends, but for now.. I will let them stand in lines, go through customs run for connections, sleep in strange beds, rush from one tourist attraction to another. Yep… I’m in another “zone”.

Others are others, and I am I. If you force your values about anything on others, it can be self righteous. Don’t be overeager and have a sense of “others are others. I am I”

Perfect Liberty 2023.13 (English translation done in Japan)
