memories-gratitude

a happy place

there is something special about photographs that recall a moment in time

pictures that take us back to another time and place. When I found these pictures yesterday, I wondered if I could ever find them again. Computers are amazing wonders. I don’t know how often I’ve changed computers since these were taken, I’ve lost count. Yet, here they were on my screen popping up from files that the software genie had compiled.

I no longer questions how these things happen, the Universe has a way of delivering these little “presents” when I least expect it. I say thank YOU and feel gratitude for the discovery.

With the Thanksgiving week-end having just passed (Canadian) I got to spend a lot of time with memories as i looked over all the pictures. The pictures dated back to the early 2000’s A lot has happened since then. Seeing my Mother, sisters, family pets, in-laws, gave me much time for reflection. Of course, constant in all of them was my husband, it was his love and dedication to our “lives” that enabled much of what i got to see and live during the years he was here on earth with us.

It was a reminder not to squander the time we have here on earth.. it is a beautiful environment, and meant to be enjoyed, Friends, family, people we meet all have a purpose…We are all ONE….

We are all represented in Nature, we can be different seasons, different species, but we are all here to co-exist. It is time to focus on World Peace.

When you think “I’ve got it” think again. It is easy to misinterpret the situation and jump to conclusions. Always have a humble attitude and double check to make sure.

Catch and release

The joy of fishing, is not only the communication that happens between man and the treasured catch, it is the preparation for the day’s outing, the planning, the location, the endless time spent adrift on the water… and the time spent in the outdoors (Nature)

My son prefers to fish with his kayak, Dan the young man in these pictures is a Musky guide, he and his brother Emmanuel (Manny) have logged many hours on the water, it is their passion and in their blood. Remember yesterday in PL we held special ceremony thanking and being grateful for the gifts passed down from our ancestors, and other wisdoms we’ve learned from our “elders”

Dan had just posted one of the above pictures, he has a natural love of the outdoors. He grew up with the outdoors being very much a part of his “learning experience”.. Having spent time on a reserve in the summer with grandparents and extended family, his love and respect for the natural environment shines through now in his adult years. Both he and Manny are licensed guides, and as you can see from the pictures, year after year, put smiles on peoples faces by introducing them to the world of the Musky.

Fishing is about patience, and an ability to be in the present, to live and totally be at peace with your surroundings…. I know my son when he catches that worthy opponent ( fish) that gave him a good “fight”\, he thanks the fish for joining him, then gently releases him/her back into their environment.

There is so much that happens in the world around us, sometimes we forget that it (the world) is not all “greed” “corruption” and self centered, narcissistic and self indulgent “people/news” While there is a lot of negativity in the world, there is also a lot of POSITIVE, LOVING and, HEALING, ENERGY …. it is up to us as individuals to seek out the path that will lead to WORLD PEACE.

Each and everyone of us, has the power within US, to be good, to do good. We are not born with a natural desire to inflict pain, and be disruptive, we are born free of prejudice and bias.

On my bucket list, is to spend quality time drifting along a shoreline on a quiet day, with clear skies and an uninhabited countryside (of people) where only the sounds of Nature abound.

Diamonds, emeralds, rubies, they are not treasures to me, they are minerals taken from the ground and repurposed by man… they may sparkle and glitter, but they are cold. but I digress….. it is a beautiful day… open the door and welcome the brisk autumn day. If you are able to enjoy the fall colour of the hardwood trees, enjoy… soon… it will be a whole new season.

Live with gratitude in your heart. Spend as much time in and around Nature as you can. It is revitalizing.

Ancestors Day

Today, the 11th of the month, in Prefect Liberty we celebrate our Ancestors. Through the ceremony, we express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors and ask for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL WAY. Service will begin at 10 a.m.

We are aware that many of you will be sheltering in place, we ask that you take a few moments at home to share in morning prayer with us.

All over the world, people are having to physically distance themselves from loved ones. In Canada this week-end it is our long week-end, a time when many of us would be gathering and sharing our table with our loved ones who do not live in our immediate “space”. May your creativity and love allow you to find ways to communicate virtually. Be grateful for the bounty we do have, and for the love and community we live in and belong to.

a memory photo from 2019

Be thankful to your parents and to your ancestors. You are here today because the “torch of life” has been continuously passed down. Always remember to be thankful.

Conversation

Hi, Hello there, I’m new to your area, are you available for a bit of a chat? Yes I know we’ve not met before, but I sure would like to get to know you a bit better.

True, I guess you recognize from my tone and the unfamiliar words that I’m not someone who is used to being up close and personal with creatures as beautiful and majestic as you two. I really do want to make friends?

Thank YOU for being so kind … allowing me into your personal space. Now that we’ve come this far, what can I do or say that will let you know I am appreciating your willingness to come closer.

Ahhhh the wire stretched just above the fence has an electric current, so be careful you say… Thank you, I appreciate your letting me know. I will be extra careful, I’ve picked some clover for you.. Allow me to share with you

Only one horse was interested in coming over to know more about me, which pleased me immensely since I know so little about these amazing animals. I did search the field around where we were for some bunches of clover, and he/she did partake. Once we established that rapport, the other one did come over but cautiously

.The dark fellow came over after a bit and shared in our little spur of the moment, “treatfest” I found out later that these two were new to the paddock having only just arrived the day prior to my visit.

Do i talk to strangers? yes I do. Given the right circumstances i am a person who likes to meet new people, I will say “Hi” share a smile or a brief greeting, I find it a wonderful way to spend time, sharing a positive back and forth with another “BEING”..

If you are cheerful, it will make everyone around you cheerful. Cheerful and happy people naturally attract others. Always smile and have a pleasant attitude.

Don’t give up! Stick with it, as many times as it takes. Sometimes you want to just throw in the towel and say, “I give up” but that’s the time for you t dig deep and push through. Your sincere efforts will invite a good outcome.

Kindness

muted colours

We need to foster and nurture, basic human qualities, warmth, compassion and kindness. These were the thoughts that ran through my tired brain last night. The world is becoming cold, difficult and frightening, anxiety is everywhere. In PL, we strive to practice kindness in our every day lives.

This morning while driving to church, I stopped to capture a bit of the fading fall colours at one of the “green spaces”, I did find colour, but it was this field of muted vegetation that caught my attention, alone they are just a plant whose growing season is coming to an end. Together, they looked like a Monet, they gave me a sense of calm, and serenity … they all blended and harmonized under the sunlight that was building in the sky.

“I believe that if we stop and think, it is clear that our very survival, even today, depends upon the acts and kindness of so many people.” His holiness the Dalai Lama

Your smile energizes the people around you. A smile has the ability to put others at ease and give them energy. Strive to be the first to offer a smile each day to those around you.

Friday finds

Ever find yourself in a situation that every place you head for, is out of reach, I got across the river to the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, only to find a detour on the road I wanted to take. OK, I know the city so I took a side street that ran along the parkway.. thus the wonderful colours, and the picture that is a burst.. is where there is a foot path that takes you to the Gatineau Parkway (which was closed to traffic).

I changed my plans and decided I would head up the 148 (highway) only to discover that most of the road from where I was starting out, was blocked and closed due to construction. This then took me by the Hull Armories.

the only signs of life when I pulled in… you can see they were not interested in me.
one did stop, but after a quick once over, snubbed me.

Giving up on my decision to take pictures on the Quebec side, I decided to come back to Ontario side … Plus, there was word that the border might be closed, due to the rise in Covid numbers. Gatineau I was told was code Orange.

Suffice to say, my adventures continued on this side of the river, but I will save that for another day.

The everyday things you do will show when it really counts. If you have a tendency to be careless about everyday matters, you cannot expect to perform well at crucial times.

Always think that “everything will work out” when you allow yourself to be pessimistic, your thoughts and actions become sluggish. Approach everything optimistically without hesitating.

Perfect Liberty 2020.2

I am taking a positive attitude tonight… I am going to rest, RELAX, chill, and just let life happen. Tomorrow will be another day. Tonight I will find comfort and joy in a freshly made bed and pleasant dreams. =^_^=

abstract art?

a trip down memory lane
once a busy equestrian destination
being watched
tracks leading to?

The past, present/ now and tomorrow.

Standing there on the railway ties, looking down the line, I wondered how often, a train travelled down, past were I was standing.

I had stopped to talk to the cattle on the the hill. Saw them from the road, pulled over to the side of the road and turned back. They couldn’t have cared less, who was this strange being calling to them from the fence. The horses in the top picture, were not interested in giving me the time of day either. Just because i wanted to interact with them… didn’t mean that they would be interested in dialog with me. Such is life.

The world in abstract, the sign, lured me with its emptiness, half there, I still found it beautiful.

The trees planted in a line along a now unused road, still had a sense of majesty to them. True they no longer created a wind break for the horses, in the now empty field… but they stood tall, and gave dignity to the landscape.

The two hoses checking me out, were new to the paddock having arrived just a few days earlier, to them, I was a curiosity, they still had to figure out if i would be part of their new lives.

We are all transient, some times we get to stay a little longer than others, in one place or another, the reality is… no two moments are the same.

Trains were a way to escape to distant places. Now of course, to go even further we have planes. The truth is, no matter where we go, or how many miles we put between us and yesterday, we are always still abstractly speaking, right where we always are. In our personal space. Dealing with the NOW we cannot avoid.

I am the abstract sound of wind in the trees and sunlight dancing on water…
