With snow overnight and into the morning, some of the feeders had to cleared of snow, but all in all, there was a happy chirping and flurry of activity as everyone waited for a place at one of the feeders.
There will always be a way. If you persist and be creative without giving up, you will find solutions that you had not considered before.

What a hoot. My whole theme this year was action figures and personalities from the world of adventure and super powers. I had not said a word about what I was doing.. so imagine my surprise and delight when I opened my nephews gift to find Pennywise staring back at me. You all know how in September I start gearing up for my creative month of October.. my FUN month. The unexpected is always such a “wow”.
If Santa came your way overnight, and was anywhere where the rain was, he would have been one wet Santa. The rain princess was not happy about having to perform “off season” her performance, at least here in this area, was full all out staccato, it was as if she said, “you want rain, I’ll give you rain” and then just lashed out.
This morning all is calm, not bright, but quiet and very wet. Still very mild too. What I noticed was that the little evergreen that has been sitting there all summer just “sitting”.. seems to have sprouted approx. 12 inches. I hadn’t noticed before. Could be because much of the accumulated snow has been washed away. Whatever, she looks happier. She obviously loved the rain, its perked her up.
From one happy little tree at our house, to everyone out there who is sharing this moment with us, we wish you a very happy and merry Christmas Day.
“To every cloud there is a silver lining” someone said that.. I believe it to be true.

It was a bitter cold that greeted me this morning on my rounds. I was well dressed for it too. I did see other visitors to the area bundled up for their walks, Even the birds were doing their best to conserve energy.
When something comes to mind, do it right away. The moment that you notice something is the best time to take care of it. If you react quickly, your life will be more efficient.

I have been a door chaser now for a very long time. I first realized that I had this “attraction” when a new PR director came to a television station I worked for. The door to his office was one that had a middle panel that was “window”. Whenever you walked by, which for me was often enough, you could see a big poster he had on his wall. It was a poster of doors from the city he had come from. I had never seen the like and was enchanted, so much so, on his next trip back home, he got me a similar poster… I was thrilled. Since then, I have been “hooked” on doors.
Obviously I am not alone … since we are so many who happily post and share every Thursday (when possible) one or some of our doors from our “stash”. Happy Thursday everyone.. I look forward to touring later to see what has been posted.

The day was sunny and bright when I started out, then it began to cloud. I was surprised at how fast the day went from bright to overcast. What also surprised me was that so many of the houses, store fronts, and businesses, were devoid of Holiday Decor. Unusual, I think this is the first time I have seen the city look so bleak. I heard the weather forecast, it seems there is a big snow storm brewing that will hit the eastern States, they mentioned NY and PA. But, since that same storm is what is affecting us with the cloud cover, it must be a “beauty”. I also heard that Michigan was hit recently with a big storm. You can see from my pictures, there is not much snow in our area. Still I would have expected more Holiday displays during my drive.
Strive to overcome obstacles by changing your mind-frame. Things don’t always go as planned. When that happens, try changing how you look at the situation or how you are doing things. The outcome is in your hands.

It was raining over the ice covered ground, but still I made my way to the feeding area. I was rewarded with this fella, he was not disturbed by my presence, and I was thrilled that he continued eating away, while I refilled the other feeders. He was a big guy, compared to the one I met later at the other feeder.
Offer your services instead of expecting from others. Take the initiative to do what you can to help others. Understand their needs and act swiftly.

Try as I might, the beautiful face eluded me when the camera clicked. What a beautiful face, so bold, so striking. Sometimes called the beautiful magical vagabond, it seems that its appearance in the woodlands where I go, has drawn birders to the area to try and catch a glimpse. I confess I cheated, I bribed them with black seeds.. I got there and filled the empty feeders.. then stepped back and waited.
At first I thought ahhh I’m in luck a couple of blue jays arrived.. I got my camera ready, and of course as soon as I was ready they flew off. While I stood there deciding what I wanted to do I saw a flash of gold, and the wonderful masked head of the Grosebeak. Its face is so “arresting”.. the beak, and the markings on the face are vivid.
Their colouring is described as mustard yellow, with a big pale bill and gold eyebrows. I will have to go back and try again for a frontal view. I have googled it.. and see pictures of the face, but I want to capture a face for myself. An intriguing personality, I’m inspired. =^_^= I, of course am convinced there will be non as beautiful as the ones I saw today. =^_^=
To my long time birding friend, who knows until recently I have had no real interest in birds, “yes, I went out today and got myself a couple of Bird books so that I can identify the birds I find.” One of the ladies who sought me out to thank me for putting food out so they would come, had her ID book, from which she showed me the bird and the write up. Keeps it in her car she does..
This could be a passing fancy, but for now.. I am keen!
Always be cheerful, happy and good humored. When you make effort to be cheerful and happy, you will naturally begin to feel that way.
