no dashing thru snow

crisp and clear

With the lock down just a few days away, I forced myself to get up and out early enough to miss the regular shoppers. After dropping off a bag for the food bank, I began to shop for the next couple of week. Unusual for me is soup… lots of soups.. I’ve lost my appetite, for whatever reason, I don’t seem to want to cook. The last two grocery trips, have seen me stocking up on canned goods. Yes even veggies! Me, who always wanted fresh so I could steam and cook them just the way I like them. I now have cans of veggies on my counter waiting to be put away. OK selective, I only like a couple of standard veggies … at one time I would have turned my nose up at any canned vegetable. Preferring if not fresh, than frozen.

Age, the pandemic, isolation, whatever it is… the desire for a fresh salad, or a steamed side dish of broccoli or cauliflower has poofed. I’m opening cans of French style green beans, or south western kernel corn and eating right from the can!!!! how gross is that. I even got tins of mixed peas and carrots. I grudgingly have to admit, at this time in my life, I’m enjoying them. repeat Cold right out of the can. Thank goodness my Mother is not around to read this, and if I’m lucky my sister will not read today’s post. We all have to adapt. Breakfast is Irish oatmeal with buttermilk and some banana.

LOL as a friend once said, he looks at the picture(s) especially if there is too much text!

Be a person who can recognize the sincerity of others. when you put your whole heart into things you will be able to notice the sincere acts of others in the subtle things they do and appreciate them that much more.

The shortcut to progress is to listen with a humble mind. If you are stuck in your own ways, you will eventually become bogged down. Let’s remember to be humble, learning what we can f rom the knowledge, advice and suggestions of others.

He waited, until he could wait no more….

then quietly he turned and walked away….

now, was not the time

the day would come when the opportunity would come again…

maybe then, the wait would not be in vain

Words once said, are hard to take back. Think before you rush into speech. Listen to what is said, assimilate, take it in. Change is the only constant. the intensity of a moment, can change in a heart beat.

Turn your intuitions into actions. appreciate each intuition you receive and take action right away. By doing so will invite good fortune.

not all trees are adorned

This is a season where emotions run from high to low.

We are blessed with the gift of life. This month is ripe for emotions to be fragile, we have endured a year with a lot of uncertainty. Some of us have a lot of family we haven’t seen or been able to visit with, and now the season that usually brings us together, is here, and we are being asked to – refrain, or cut back on any celebration we may have been counting on.

Music is a wonderful way to share and enjoy time with friends.

look for and find your “happy” and share it. Sharing a happy moment with a friend is very worthwhile. A smile, and/or a kind word, go a long way in making someone else’s day. We may never know the pain, longing and/or suffering another person goes through.

In one of the groups I share time with listening to music, there is one person who is not into “country” and will voice her thoughts if anyone plays a song that could be considered “country”.. … In my world music is music, no matter the genre, it is the message and the feeling that it inspires. We are never all going to be on the same page at the same time. When we refuse to listen or allow others to express themselves .. we miss out on a lot.

It is is in appreciating the unique differences in one another that we learn more about ourselves. Love is universal, a smile works magic. A friendly greeting, from a total stranger, can turn a gray day into one of sunshine.

It is only natural that you are different from others. Each of us has our own way of thinking and our own individual lifestyle. that’s what makes life interesting.

cold

It was a bitter cold that greeted me this morning on my rounds. I was well dressed for it too. I did see other visitors to the area bundled up for their walks, Even the birds were doing their best to conserve energy.

When something comes to mind, do it right away. The moment that you notice something is the best time to take care of it. If you react quickly, your life will be more efficient.

I asked myself,” how do I capture cold”. I looked around and the landscape screamed… “tell it like it is”

together

a gathering

They lean against each other, enjoying the moment… each with his/her own thoughts.. knowing the weather is changing, wondering if they will last the winter.

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. Say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached t your views, respect the points of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.

breakfast companion

It was raining over the ice covered ground, but still I made my way to the feeding area. I was rewarded with this fella, he was not disturbed by my presence, and I was thrilled that he continued eating away, while I refilled the other feeders. He was a big guy, compared to the one I met later at the other feeder.

this one was shy, he/she stayed pretty much behind the suet.

Offer your services instead of expecting from others. Take the initiative to do what you can to help others. Understand their needs and act swiftly.

one then 2

I drove out to the woodlands this morning to see if the birds had decided to feed at the new feeders I put out the other day. I was pleased to see one, and then a second one land on the suet feeder. I had to refill the other ones I had put out with seed. Today I had with me stale bagels that I had broken into bits, I put out a basket and hung it from another tree. Didn’t take long for the call to go out amongst the birds… I soon had birds coming from all directions. =^_^=.. There had been snow overnight, and I had one tire that was loosing air, but I was glad I made the journey.

The rest of the day was spent arranging for the tire to be repaired. Then going back to the dealer to have the work done. While waiting for the car, I sat and read a newspaper, something I don’t do, except when one is made available to me. There is a good reason I don’t read the newspaper, it seems that for something to be worthy of print it has to be negative reporting. I did learn that our Prime Minister has a step brother, who has opposing views on life. (rolls eyes and stifles a yawn).

We are nearing mid December there are many “holidays” approaching, at one time there would be stories and pictures of decorated homes, features on the various traditions being celebrated in different communities. I saw none of that.

So, I thought I’d post of my happy visit to the woodland, and the activities of the birds, squirrels and other little creatures that inhabit the world in our green spaces. I hope to have my monopod this week, and then I will be able to experiment with it to capture better pictures of the birds that come to dine.

Treasure each moment in time. Life is a continuation of “now”. Treasure each and every moment as it comes, so that you can live your life as fully as possible without regrets.
