meet my little hairy woodpecker Photos by Bjoern Rost
Silly how one bird can make your day. One photographer Bjoern Rost, can make it even better. By the time I got to the bog, I was running late, I’d already walked at P23…time was limited, I asked Bjoern who had just arrived, IF he was able to get a picture of my little “princess” could he send it along to me.. Et voila, I got more than one, you can see the little woodpecker in all her beauty. yes, to me, she gets my attention more than the blue jay who has also been hanging around. Ok yes there are other birds.. but this little one is the one I spoil. Thank YOU Bjoern!
Tomorrow 31st (calendar)
Don’t think overly about people. Instead of being excessively concerned about others, focus on what you should do.
Do things joyfully instead of taking it easy. enthusiastically engage with what’s in front of you. You’ll enjoy it more.

Good morning everyone, I wanted to repost a blog from a fellow blogger in Japan. I loved his blog this morning, it talks about Shinto in Japan, and how in building and in ancient tradition, there is a belief about the supernatural beings who live in the forests, woods, and on the lands. I grew up with similar teachings in the Taoist tradition. The reblog didn’t work this morning, please if you would like to know more, follow this link..https://covingtonandsons.com/2021/05/30/salt-rice-sake-and-prayer/#like-47483
It is a long week-end for you in the States, please enjoy the day whatever you are planning.

found my way to a new trail
I had seen that there was a clearing up off the trail I usually walk, when I climbed the incline to the clearing I found anther of these wood “tents” and two other possibilities.
Wholeheartedly do what you notice, when and how you notice it.

I didn’t think about it, I saw it and decided to check it out. Had I simply noticed and moved on, I would have missed the other possibilities that I now will have when next I visit this location.
Be careful about saying “it’s probably good enough” Wholeheartedly do what you notice, when and how you notice it.

Some days, when the skies are the clearest of blues, the feathered clouds wisps of angel white, the trees and surrounding vegetation are an array of, every shade of blue/green/yellow, AND the air is filled with the fresh lavender like scent of new growth -it is nothing short of perfection. Today I walked through the most heavenly scents – I looked for lavender, lily of the valley/ lilacs….. saw only the bog and the plants growing there, but ohhhh the intoxicating aromas were “mind blowing” I would have loved to have had someone with me who could identify what it was that I was enjoying so much. (one plant did look like lavender??)
nothing can erase the anxiety/ frustrations of day to day living in the current climate of a pandemic than a walk in nature.

lying around waiting for something to happen, makes for a very long day/night.
Always think that “everything will work out” When you allow yourself to be pessimistic, your thoughts and actions become sluggish. Approach everything optimistically without hesitating.
what a difference a season and time make om what happens in the world around us
This is one of the most popular and busies bar/restaurants in the downtown tourist area of the city. Not just during the holidays but at any time of the year, this restaurant is alive with people from all over the city and the world. Now like many other restaurants in the area, and the city itself, it is empty and devoid of the sounds and energy that it is used to.
Doors are closed all over the city, not just in Ottawa, but in small towns, villages and along the highways .. where friends would meet and enjoy the social activity of sharing and engaging with a friend(s).
Where ever you are, you are coping with the changes happening around us, some places life is returning to some form of normal, but that is not everywhere. We are being subjected to to a lot of change, discontent, anxieties, frustrations..
Some restaurants are getting by with take out, and home deliveries. BUT, that is only some restaurants, and often it means they are barely getting by. One observation has been that to many eating out, going to a restaurant, just for a coffee was the highlight of the day, a gathering place, and a place to touch base with others who like you were /are just passing through.
the door on the left you may remember is in a very trendy town, always bustling with people wandering and enjoying exploring all the open doors to the boutiques and shops along the main street, and visiting the wonderful outdoor and indoor cafes and eateries. The door on the left is also usually a busy door that would see hundreds of visitors who came to eat at this eatery that is backed by rushing water and a favourite for locals as well as the tourists who come to enjoy a “day out”

Truly, I had good intentions. I saw the parking lot was empty, and decided to try this trail.. I’ve never been interested it is usually full of cars, its a favourite of walkers, runners and families on day walks with children. There were empty feeders along the way, the one above, had remnants of seeds so there was a squirrel and two doves cleaning up on the ground below it. Two black birds had been there, but flew away when I approached.
You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going. Babies don’t walk the first time they try.

Even a mistake can turn out to be the one thing necessary to be a worthwhile achievement.
Be carful about doing things you really like. do everything in moderation. When you overdo, you’ll lose your balance.

A quick note- example – I love to hike/walk in the woods.. for days on end I go out every morning and drink in the world around me. Yesterday the heat/ the miles/ many steps, caught up with me. I lay down just for a second and lost the rest of the day/night. MODERATION.
