Life is full of wonders.  We need only look around us for the remnants of a time gone by.  The world is a wonderful place, and we have had such a colourful and creative past.  Today we live every day, starting each morning with a brand new canvas.

yes it is still Wednesday -but a Thursday door is in this post!

p1000413

We can only wonder at the creative mind that pulled this all together.  what a hoot it must have been to drive up and meet the people here, possibly someone somewhere will know more about this location, and contact me.  Meanwhile…. I enjoy the little surprises as i revisit the pictures.

p1000390

Both my husband and our friend Syb, were reminded of Stephen King’s writing when they saw the pictures. I personally have not read a lot of Stephen King, what do you think?

p1000392

I know Norm, I know, tomorrow is Thursday, but as you can see, this door from the building is very standard issue. the one that was super cool was the one at the front, where they drove cars in and out from.

harmony within ourselves

IMG_1136

A student once said to me, “you tell me that happiness begins with me,  intellectually I agree, but the reality is I don’t know how to begin”.  It is easy to talk about the Precepts and Principles of PL,( Perfect Liberty), they are all so “simple” when stated, but they are not as easily followed as one would imagine,  When someone says relax, we just can’t flick a switch and our bodies will relax.

Like the shadows on the fence the “art” of the moment, is there and if we pause in our day, we will see it, return in another half hour, that moment and play of shadows will no longer be there,.

Think on the number of times, your friend, mate, spouse, child, asks you for something, and you have replied with “just a second,” “wait, I’m busy” or I can’t right now, maybe later.  We all do it, it is so easy to simply excuse ourselves from the moment because we are busy, mentally in another space.

Sometimes, the moment passes, and there is no repercussion, it simply gets lost.  Other times, it could have been a  life changing moment.  We will never know, we let it pass, we made a choice, and come what may, we had a part in that “moment” in time.

in prayer

When we make time in our lives for prayer, we are making time for GOD/TAO/Nature/Divine within ourselves.  To understand and learn more about ourselves, we have to spend time with our “selves”  In PL (Perfect Liberty) we are always available to “listen” and to help YOU sort out the complicated challenges that come your way.  It really happens to everyone, not just you, you are never alone, although at times, it might feel that you are.

PL Precept # 1  – Life is Art

Art doesn’t just happen, everyday we live is an expression of our creativity.  Our TRUST and FAITH in GOD is what will see us through troubled times.

in 2013 the #6 lesson was – A change of Heart can turn the Tide –  No matter what the situation you can’t change others.  The only thing you have control over is how you accept things, and deal with them.

what was

waku,Japan 2016

Sterling, handsome young man, caught in a suit.  Would we think this was the norm…  we could, he carries it so well. Confident, charming, years from now, this will be what was in 2016 on the day that picture was taken, it will not reflect anything else, but that moment in time.  We are often reminded of what was back in … pick  a year, any year…  What we discover is, that what was back then, although still part of our “make up” is in no way where we are in the “now”

Mamoru 2015

Will this young man remember the day he was off to play golf and was caught in the moment.  Maybe.  Life is filled with so many wonderful adventures, and we get to live each and every one.  I am often asked if I remember something that happened some many years ago.  My honest answer, is probably not.  If the person is able to give me enough information, I might catch a glimpse of what that person is remembering,  however often my memory is not the same as theirs.

rensei 2016 c

People come together for a reason, strangers meet and become friends, or not..    But the encounter is one that often leaves a lasting impression, sometimes, it is felt right away, and other times not till sometime yet to come.  When you live in the NOW (present) you are living in the moment, and that moment will be with you forever.  Even if you are lost in thoughts of the past, what is happening to you in the present, is still happening, you simply are missing the moment, and that is too bad, why, because you can never get it back.

Like the exhilaration of fireworks,  they happen, then they are gone.  It is our decision whether or not we go forward, or try to hold on to the past. Whether you want it  to or not, life will continue to flow in and around you.  One season will roll into the next, enjoy  the changes, you will blossom and with each season, your blooms will change.

times get tough – be creative

P1000267

There are times, when no matter which direction we turn, life throws us a curve.  We can see these times as tough times, or as opportunities to challenge our creativity.  Countless books, and lectures have been given on “how to deal with adversity”.

P1000270

PL Precept #1 – Life is Art

It really truly is.  Each time we’ve driven by this little display in Potsdam, NY, I wonder out loud, what, why, and where, the whole idea came from.  This time, we stopped so I could take some pictures.  The display has been there for some time, flowers are weather faded, and weeds well established.  There is also a similar display in another part of the town.  It is a University/College town, so I’m guessing, that it was some kind of project.  Whatever, it is most fun and interesting.

P1000269

Toilets, flush away waste, bath tubs, wash away daily grim.  At one time, the display would have been fresh and innovative.  Today it is obviously still a source of interest or it wouldn’t be there, taking up such prime real estate.  Some day, perhaps I’ll hear what prompted such a display of tongue in cheek creativity.  Does anyone out there know?

No matter how tough times get, we all have the potential and possibility to achieve something positive.  The whole project here, was about waste being recycled, and what “fun” it is.

musing 7.2.16

I’d like to use the photos found on social media today, some I’ve used before, to tell a story.(musing)

There simply beautiful, amazing plants in the Universe, depending on what part of the world you live, or visit, some of them will be front and center for you to enjoy and delight over. Each plant has something unique to them, and appear the way they do, often for survival purposes.

Amazon-Water-Lily

Example, the Amazon water-lily, it can grow to over 2 metres in diameter,  that is, about 9 something feet.  I am not likely to see one in my travels, while I am wandering the parks and countryside in my Canadian  backyard. To deter rainforest animals from eating therm, they have rows of sharp spines on the underside of the leaves.

Strangler-Fig

This picture, is of a strangler fig, where many epiphytes avoid harming the plant on which they grow, the strangler fig  eventually kills its host tree.  It starts out as a little bitty thing, that looks so cute growing among the branches of its host tree, but as it grows, its roots thread their way down into the soil, and its stems keep wrapping around the host tree. It grows stronger with the passing of time, capturing more and more sunlight as it expands and grows till eventually the host tree dies.

That said, the strangler fig is important to the rainforest ecosystem, its fruit is a mainstay diet for many of the animals that live in the rainforest.

I used to talk about this plant during my days in “health care” – regarding stress..  Stress is often seen only as a negative, but in fact it is and can be very positive.  It is all in how we perceive the challenges that come our way.  The obstacle that is blocking out the sunshine making it harder for us to enjoy the sun, is often just like us in the sense that it had to grow big and tall to survive as long as it has.  It had the sunshine, and the rain.  Now you come along, your choice is to give up and live in the dark, or to embrace and enjoy the company of the host you landed on.  In sharing you grow and are supported in your efforts, you get to see that the when you reach for the sun, and let your roots slide down further into the forest floor, you become more stabilized.

living bridge

This is a picture of the resourcefulness of the people living in India, they built a living bridge from the strangler fig trees, the bridge is alive and always growing stronger.

41745656a6d60f81cb8c76158f2a83f3

This tree standing in the Nanning Park in Guangxi China, is  what started this train of thought.  The host tree is long gone. so today admirers see only this lattice tree.  When we look at another human being, we see only what is on the outside.  We see where they are at that moment, in that space and time.

Some of us are like the Amazon Water-Lily beautiful to look at, pretty as a picture, but.. under the exterior of  “who we project” is someone very different.  There are so many layers to us, it is a patient partner who will lovingly and tenderly peel away each layer.  This applies to any and every one.  Because a “man” appears strong, and unapproachable, means zip, everyone has a heart, has feelings, feels sadness, and wants love.

When something is impossible it is because we don’t want it badly enough.  Or what we think we want, is not really what is best for us, and Nature steps in, and helps reshape and redirect  every day is a new adventure and a new discovery.
