Madonna House Apostolate

One’s character shines through, when we help those who cannot help themselves.

Yesterday we drove out to Combermere, Ontario, to the Madonna House Pioneer Museum and St. Raphael’s Handicraft Centre. It is a beautiful drive through cottage country, I confess to being so tired, that I fell asleep on the way up and missed a lot of beautiful scenery. For those who know Madonna house, I need not explain it, but a short note for those who are new to Madonna House, it is run by missionaries, all items that are on display in the museum, or for sale in the shops, are donated, and ALL the proceeds go the poor.

The museum is pat of the Renfrew County Museums Network, there is a main shop with a multitude of collectibles, curios and antiques. There is an Art Gallery with paintings, prints and other works of art. One of my favourite haunts is The Small Shop, a thrifty shopper’s favourite, vintage items, costume jewelry and countless pieces of interest.

It is known for its Book Shop with a wide variety of used books, rare and antique special collections. The Pioneer Museum is a must if you are interested in an extensive Canadian Collection of old tools and…. the museum was built from 100 year old hewn logs by experts in the Madawaska Valley. for the museum, it is a guided tour.

Coming up Labour Day Week-end. September 5th and 6th. 1 pm – 4 pm they are having a Heritage Fest. Where you can see first hand, their skills in wool carding, spinning,weaving,felting, bee hive demonstrations, butter churning, pottery, and wood carving.

Madonna House is self-sufficient, in that it runs a farm to produce, for example, the sheep fibres used in the wool carding, spinning and weaving, cows for the milk, and butter, this is a must visit for families that want their children to know what life was like, prior to all the modern technology that we are bombarded with today.

What was, is…

Abandoned or forgotten, is there a difference…

On the 11th of each month, we in PL (Perfect Liberty) celebrate Ancestors Day,

with a special ceremony. Through this ceremony, we express our gratitude

for the love and virtues of our ancestors, asking that we ourselves, continue

to grow and learn to bring love and understanding to others in the world around us.

By now, most of you know I love to discover an old abandoned vehicle, and capture it

to enjoy and add to my Pinterest board, the neighbours I’m sure appreciate that i don’t

bring them home to display on the front lawn, or the back forty. Not all of them are left to the elements

some like the one above have been lovingly restored, and are happily on the road again.

We can do that with an object, but with a human heart, no……

Once the love and laughter is gone, and the body fails to carry on

we are left with an empty space, all that will remain is a memory in its place

Appreciate and love .. today…

In expressing appreciation to God in our daily lives, with sincerity (makoto)

we renew our determination to follow and practice a way of life that ensures

our memories and our quality of life in the moment, will be good ones.

Seek to retain focus in your faith and connection with God

If you have never lived with a whippet you have not had the occassion to see them in sleep mode. They can run like the wind, jump like kangaroos, sneak like thieves, but when it is time to sleep, they zone,

Humans do a lot of running,moving, and racing about, but when it comes to sleep, many miss the boat.. We might sleep, but we seldom totally zone. Those of us who do, who are able to simply lie down and “disappear” letting our bodies totally rest, and our minds shut down, are very blessed.

I’d like to share with you a true story. A dear friend has told me over the years about how her daughters first husband went to work one day and never returned.

Police were called in and for years, there was a search for this man, The family even hired a private detective. Eventually all hope was lost, he had vanished, and there was not a sign of him anywhere.

He had left behind a daughter. My friend’s daughter and her 1-year-old child were left wondering what had happened. For years they suffered the pain of not knowing. Eventually with time, for my friend’s daughter, she was able to put the past behind, and she remarried and had another daughter.

The daughter, the one whose father had just up and left, spent a lifetime, yearning and wondering. Married now with two children of her own, she still grieved for the father she had never known. In her heart, she prayed that one day he would be found and returned to her, or at least, they would learn of what had happened and closure for her could happen.

In her heart, she kept his memory alive, remember she was only a year old when he disappeared. Yet she held her father in her heart and always in her prayers.

The other day, 35 years later, he knocked on his parents door, a mature adult man, white hair (he had been fair ) with a the question, was he welcomed. You can imagine the shock, the tears, the reunion of the parents with their son.

He saw his daughter that Sunday, she invited the grandparents, their son (her estranged father) to dinner to meet her husband and her two daughters ( his grandchildren).. After dinner with the husbands permission, he and his daughter took a long walk together, to talk and get to know one another. Love is……

Faith and prayer are powerful tools. Life happens … not when we want or expect it to.. But when it is meant to happen.

Good morning, Bonjour…

Have you ever been walking on a clear day, just going about on your every day travels, when you find yourself suddenly shrouded with a fog, that seemed to appear out of nowher…..There is an old expression, “i was blind sided” means something happens and you never saw it coming. It happens. Sometimes more often than we would like it to.

Lessons in life are never straight forward, they are a way for life to remind us that we have gotten slack or lazy in how we are living or proceeding in life. We do not walk alone on the earth, we are surrounded by others who are going about their lives in the same way. Each with feelings, miseries and problems of their own. It is how we deal with the challenges in life that sets us apart and makes us unique in who we are, and what we are. Not just towards others, but to ourselves. We must never forget that we count, and that love, and light comes from within.

We need not look far to see the signs of distress, loneliness, and abandoned dreams, we need only turn on the telly or a radio to hear about the conflicts happening all over the world. The reality is that is only one side of the coin. In this creative photo manipulation, instead of the foot coming down – causing gloom and doom, it is being lifted and kept away by the steady, reliable protective hand of GOD/TAO.

The TAO/WAY is always there … ALWAYS, we decide we can look at it in the distance, or we can walk through the door/portal and discover what lies beyond self imposed restrictions. We are responsible for our choices and our actions.

Believe, have faith, cross over – discover new realities, you are and never will be alone – God is everywhere, in the air you breathe and the essence of your life.

Surreal… … no life … is real

Once

I fell in love……once……..

and then by chance,

it happened again…….

each time i thought, this is forever……

how silly, how young, how unprepared

for the passion of erotic bliss

there is a difference

you do know this….. of course you do

there is lust and there is sex

but when young what do you expect

true love comes from within

lasting love is a gift….

it begins with knowing how to care

really care for the goddess/god within

Once….. you have tasted and known such love

there really can be no other

the giving of one’s self, is not a solitary action…

In nature, there is a force that builds from within

how it is released is known only by the force that holds the key

once, I recognized that love was not

a physical connection

that spiritual makoto (sincerity) was the main ingredient

the once, became forever

no matter the conditions, no matter what is on the surface

the eternal flame lives within

once fanned, it will grow and flow

oh yes, false and fake eruptions can be reproduced

man-made, they won’t last, there is a lot of fizzle and then poof, its gone

when you truly allow Nature to erupt in all its glory

the moment will live/love on.. history has been made

Sun and Moon

As clear as day

I saw the sun and moon

when you looked into my eyes

I know no other way

to express that moment in time

when in a single moment,

how often have I meditated and prayed

to know such intense and immense joy

suddenly I am so alive

the Universe is vast

We walk past a door (opportunity)…. or we seize the moment.

When we are calm we reflect that quiet serenity

I love this picture, like, WoW, these mountain goats are climbing a near vertical wall. I found it on a site, that just now when I went back to reference it again, the page was gone, or not available to me. We speak of reflection, perception, to the photographer who took this picture, I say kuddos for your patience and ability to do this capture. My musing is, in Nature, the animal does what is instinctively right, …. need to get to point X, hmmm what is the best way, oh yes, this way, and simply goes about doing it.

The mind, I can speak for mine will often prevent me from doing something, because I think about it too much.

“all things come to fruition when the heart (content) and the object (form) are in accord with one another”

I don’t think that I can count the number of times, that I discover that my reality and the actual happening, and interaction with others, is totally bonkers. I talked the other day of time, and perception, every day I learn how askew my reality is, and that because of that, I create my own frustrations and sometimes anxiety. As a young child i can recall how other children would taunt me and call me names..just because… I was different, I was Asian in a very different culture. Hurt and confused I would run to my father, who would quietly take me aside and explain to me that in life, there would always be others who don’t understand or accept that I was different. What counted was, my thoughts and understanding about myself. I was young, not even close to a double-digit age. But he would walk me through understanding that it was because they really didn’t know me yet.. and that I should go out and get to know them.. He didn’t let me stay in or shield me, he sent me back out to play. He taught me that it was their problem if they lacked insight, not mine.

He taught me that life was to be lived, and that meant accepting that it would not always be sunny days, or happy, but what was important was that I like myself, and enjoy the world around me, because it was a gift. God/TAO was always, always with me, part of me, I was never alone. In going back out to the play, I did get to know the other boys and girls, and I learned another language. To this day, my friends from that time of my life, tell me what it meant for them to discover friendship with me, someone with a different cultural background,, and how it changed for them, their perception of others they later met in life that were “different”

The Universe is vast, and often we find ourselves alone with a view that is beyond words, or in a situation that is just so awesome to our inner psyche that.. there simply is nothing to do but absorb and take in the moment. Even if someone shared that ledge with you… no two people will experience the same emotion in that moment, or “see” the same “picture”.

The Universe, does provide, only it may not be when you want, rather, it will be … when the time is such that you are ready for that discovery/recognition.
