flooding

I remembered I had a picture that would give a visual on what some areas are like in our part of the world right now.  Many people have been and are dealing with flooding. Not just one or two areas, many places in the Province, not only cottage country, any where,  there is water.  Our lakes, and rivers are swollen and over flowing their banks. People are scrambling to save what they can.  There have been thousands and thousands of sand bags filled and carried to numerous destinations.  Still the water rises.

According to weather specialists, we’ve not seen the likes in decades, records have been broken.  The climate changes  the world is experiencing is all very real.

Please pray for those in need, and give thanks of appreciation to the many generous souls who have come forward to volunteer their time and help to those who are having to face the raging rising waters, and watch helplessly as their property disappears under the incoming tides.

Down Under -Thursday Doors

down under by Shirley Keen

Isn’t this just the greatest natural doorway into a small paradise.  Maybe not what we usually call a door, it does not open and close, but, Wow, I have to say congratulations Shirley, this is a stunning piece,.  I look through and see so much that captures my imagination.

A lazy bear, resting in the afternoon sun.  His nose pointing towards the sky as he breathes in the clean fresh air.  The water so calm and blue, I wonder if I’d dare to wander through the doorway in case I am tempted to dip a toe in the sparkling water or like the bear become part of the amazing natural wonder that is calling to my senses. I want to find a place, sit and while away the rest of the day.

Dreams and magical vistas await us every day.  It is up to us, to make time to go out and play.

Thursday doors 2 – continued

The house can be seen as you drive into Cornwall off the 401 going west.  From the off ramp it looked so lonely, so forlorn.  The inside is completely a mess. Without proper footwear and a hard hat, I wouldn’t venture too far inside.

The area around the house  looks like at one time it  had been a tended  lawn and garden.   I’d say a farm-house, the building (that also stands empty) that you drive past to get to this one seems to attest to my thinking, but then?   It is a brick building, perhaps when the land was expropriated for the highway, they built further back.. Of course with expansions.. this is no a place for a  “home”..  – for sale (land) it would be commercial property now.

I love the old wood, even with age, it has a quiet dignity to it.  The homes being built today, I don’t see the same character or get the same feeling of seeing a structure that was built to last, a home for generations.

The basket in the upper right corner, I remember when we would find them at markets filled with fresh farm vegetables.  How long ago since the last resident put it outside, perhaps filled with fall produce or an autumn display of bright foliage.

The house has been vacant for some time.. the wild trees, shrubs and grasses have been reclaiming what was once a tended lawn.

Thanks for visiting with me.  It was important to me.. to give the house  some  love attention, maybe one last time..  the new gravel down on the road leading to the area, suggests that something is “in the wind”

Progress so necessary, but at what cost……

Blue skies, dazzling sunshine, a fresh crispness in the air, it was time for a day trip. We are fortunate that we can just pick up and go, if the spirit moves us.  The landscapes look so different when they are blanketed with snow and the trees are bare of their leaves.

1-30-17-towards-osgoode

Notice the happy shadows, at the time of my visit, they are free of critter tracks, but I’m sure had I ventured in further, I would have found evidence of the abundant life within the little woodland patch.

1-30-17-aI was content to simply peak silently into the little world I’d come across. Hoping that by standing very still, I’d catch a glimpse of another wandering nomad, or furry critter going about its day.

The simplicity of the moment, the beauty of the shadow a silver-gray on the textured snow brings tranquility and beauty to my tired eyes. The natural sunlight, the fresh air, background noises of the woodland and the cars in the distance, all blend to harmonize into my moment of communion with Nature.

It takes but a second to connect, to allow God to colour our day with a joy of recognition, that it isn’t man-made news that is important, rather the essence of happiness lies within.  Life IS.

To achieve peace and happiness, we must find it first within ourselves.  Peace is a by-product of LOVE.

4efef7f7e3503cced3dad81b5a0c3e65In quiet reflection today, I wanted to transport myself back to the Holy Land (Japan, headquarters)  if only one could simply snap one’s fingers and voila.. we would be standing where we wanted to be.

Wanting, wishing, does not make it so.  I am where I am, thousands of miles away, different continent, time zone and season.

On my mind this morning, is Rev. Toyomi Hirayama, he was the minister who did the translations for me when I met with Rev. Mitsuo Michishita.  Sometimes when we are living a moment we don’t realize just how much that space in time will actually impact our everyday until months later.

img_1759

Rev. Ise Kouji who I only met during my last visit there, was so kind so thoughtful, always a big smile.Unable to speak English, he still conveyed happiness at sharing and exchanging time with the English visitor.

The minister there from Argentina, Sensi Arthuro Higashigata, it was the same, so friendly and outgoing.  We came from all over to attend the celebrations and lectures.  The actual physical time was short .. but the learning, and discovery of self, is ongoing.

sunshine and flowersFaith will shine through, even the darkest of times, Nature will go on with her infinite art forms, and in quiet meditation, I can be “home”
