expressions

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. Say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the points of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium,

I see personalities in each tree I meet. Depending on the time of day, where the sun is, how the shadows play on their textured bark…I’ve never come across a tree that I haven’t liked. Humans are the same. =^_^= some are easier to spend time with then others…. but everyone has the potential of being someone you can learn from, share with, and yes, even be friends with.

Learn to be a person who welcomes change, appreciate the journey you’ve been on. Life is to be lived.

Love is the elixir of life.

At first when I saw this picture, I thought “nothing like being caught between a rock and a hard place” The second thought that came to mind was ” a rose between two thorns” Still I’m not decided.. but I am attracted to this shot. What do you see, what comes to your mind?

There is always a balance .. hard/soft, fast/slow, flowing/solid…

Have a great day everyone!

wood

There is something about the evolution of a tree, and what we have learned about how it grows, the different types of wood, hardness, texture, colour. I am captivated when I walk into a workshop where wood is being worked on/with. I love the many shapes, forms and characteristics of the different species.

I never tire of discovering an old wooden building/structure

In Wakefield the other day, the wood workers shop was not open when we went, but I got to explore his outdoor work space. Wood everywhere, it was a mini paradise.

I know that pictures are not the same as being there, but I’m sure for those of you who love this kind of “setting” as much I do… you can almost smell the wooden wonder of the place. In the back of this property is a babbling brook. YES I not only got a visual “high” I had the ambience of the running water and clear blue skies. YuppeeDoooo!!!!

We all have different ways of feeling and thinking. Let’s always accept others differences and respect one another. Remember that “different strokes for different folks” is the key to having harmonious relationships with the people around us.

Thursday Doors

Doors are the keepers of “mysteries’ they come in all shapes and sizes, no matter the age, the shape, or location, they tell a story. These doors were all taken during my fun adventure on the Quebec side of the Ottawa river the other day. I can’t wait to share with you some of the “decor” that shared time and space with some of the above doors. Stay tuned. =^_^=

Always be cheerful, happy and good humored. When you make effort to be cheerful and happy you will naturally begin to feel that way.

Today November 11 is also Remembrance Day in Canada, fitting that for us, in PL, it is Ancestors’ Day.

garden at night

Just when I thought I had all the leaves… I noticed tonight when I let the dogs out.. that “oh NO! more leaves to fall”! How on earth did I not see them the other day… Goes to show me that I am not as observant as I think I am! This little corner got completely missed.

I must admit tho’ that I found the little vignette rather pretty. I even came back into the house to collect my camera.

my first night photos with my new Canon =^_^=

Always there is a positive to be found ! Note to self, bring in my garden “keepers” for the winter. =^_^=

Be thankful to your parents and to your Ancestors. You are here today because the “torch of life” has been continuously passed down. Always remember to be thankful.

covered bridge

Looking for a covered bridge, found one.. just not in the state I expected to find it in. It is a bridge, and it is covered. =^_^=. We were over on the Quebec side today, no sitting in restaurants, had to order and take food out. We also discovered the deer hunting season has begun. (unhappy face)

Wandered off the road, following animal tracks, the vegetation shows where they cross into the woodlands. it was a beautiful day. I stood still hidden by the brush and enjoyed the quiet and the peacefulness of the landscape. What a joy and blessing to live in a country where I can still visit and enjoy such wonders.

Enjoy the moment while you wait. Things come about when they re meant to happen. Think o what you an do for the time being, and don’t rush the outcome.

conversation

Met these lovelies the other day. We showed an interest in each other, so I advanced carefully to have a visit. Although I did my best to chat, except for the one on the right, I was met with indifference. Although the one on the far end, seemed to be listening, when I drew closer, the reaction showed me clearly, I had misread the interest.

sigh, we have all at some time I’m sure had the reaction of simple indifference to our prattle.

I had thought that I was being friendly, but my communication skills were not appreciated by this little group.

I did get a second glance by this little group of grazers, but again, no takers when I tried for a more up close and personal visit. In fact the saddle brown (on the left) which appealed to me, turned and purposely walked away. They likely knew I was simply too “city” for them.

In these instances I found it easy to say “thank you” and move on, I tried to interact, but they simply were not interested. There are other times tho’ when we try communicating with a friend, and the reaction is not positive, in fact it gets hostile and aggressive. That is harder to smile and say thank you too.* In PL, we try, we look at what we could have done, or how we could have perhaps approached the subject differently.

I see and hear all around me these days, what seems to be an environment of hostility, negative aggressive thinking and behaviour. I can understand why so many are having difficulty finding “peace” in their lives. We forget, that WE contribute to the environment we live in.

It is important to say “thank you” … Everything that appears in front of you is all material for you to improve yourself whether its food, people or things. Learn to accept everything, whether it is something you like or not.
