It has been hot very hot in this neck of the woods. The forecast is for a very unusually hot summer.. Spring was actually very wet for a good chunk of it, and now we are being visited by H O T weather .. so hot that even the sun/heat worshippers are being cautious about time spent outdoors. One of the hikers that I see on a regular basis out doing his walks/hikes . in all kinds of weather, has actually taken a break.. it was that bad.. and where the mosquitos and such usually start tapering off when the heat hits.. they have taken to gathering and attacking anyone that dares enter the cover of darkness (where the trees/woods are lush with vegetation)

Even the wild turkeys urge me to hurry up and get out of the car… so that they can breakfast and move away into the inner regions of the bog to find shade and a reprieve from the heat. The beavers, groundhog and rabbits stay in their dens. coming out only in the very early wee hours as the sun makes its appearance.

I am sorry with the passing of my long time companion and teacher (yes, Keeper taught me a lot) animals can’t voice with us, but they can communicate in a very clear way when they want something or want you to respond or interact with them. Someone sent me a text about what the wild turkeys eat at the “diner” when they come.

Depending on the season, their preference is whole corn kernels.. but in the spring/summer I have added what the suppliers calls “scratch” it is broken kernels of corn with various seeds, grains etc. (a feed they give chickens and such) I mix that with sunflower seeds. This way, all the smaller birds that like to join in on the buffet get to have some “easy pickings”

The turkeys at P23 .. the big boys, like the one you see above, to be smart asses.. will go over to where the blue jays/squirrels and chippies are eating and grab a peanut or two.. shake it and maybe give it back, but now, often they just swallow it down in one gulp. and casually walk away, Hope that helps.. even the mourning doves will come to share a meal.

Note, I had several packages of the dried veggies and freeze dried meat that were for sprinkling over Keepers prescribed dry food she had to eat… (made it more palatable) I sprinkled small amounts over along the side where the rabbits and groundhogs like to come for fresh greens. (wild grasses and ground cover) … and they nibbled away at that, This was an expensive treat.. but Keeper would approve of my sharing her no longer needed food with the wildlife. Keeper was an old soul.

Have a good day everyone. Life is to be lived and enjoyed… our time here is limited. We all have a best before/expiry date.

ps. yes I am considering offering a refresher course on “body rhythms/awareness” again for those interested in meditation in motion. Small class limited space.

Imagine being able to change your looks and become anyone you want, by creating an avatar. True you can’t change who you are, or erase your life experiences. But.. you can express your creativity and enjoy seeing what you can do with your imagination, computer skills, and enjoy the creative expression of the many talented artists/designers in the world around you.

There are some things in life we just can’t change easily, but we can change how we approach or accept the many opportunities/challenges we are given or dealt. Years ago, I was fortunate enough to be part of a group who were exploring the new media that was available.. computers were no longer out of reach to the average home/person… and many who could afford one, were playing around, using them to simplify basics work loads. What a blessing to not have to use carbon paper to make copies, or spend time running to the photo copier when you needed only one copy.

The younger generation won’t remember such times, but many of us do. In the digital world, you can be old, young, blonde, brunette, your curves could be to die for, and you never have to worry about what will happen if you indulge your sweet tooth with another piece of cake. I asked a few of my clients at the time if they would be interested in creating their own avatar. It began as a fun project, but I and my colleagues soon realized that giving someone the ability to recreate themselves in a virtual world brought out a lot of important feelings and information that led (in some) to very productive self discoveries.

Not everyone could adapt or use the “tools” in a positive way.. but it did give me the opportunity to see the “truth” in that expression, “art often is an imitation of life.”. The pictures I’ve used in this blog, are from a designer in SL who has a gift of producing skins and looks that cover a range of skin tones and features … In the virtual world, there are often over 40000 users on at one time, that is a lot isn’t it. AND they come from all over the world.

I see in the posts on FB and other platforms, that many users like to use bitmojis .. character versions of themselves. And now, I see there are all kinds of games/worlds, platforms where avatars are used to represent the Player(s) Some fantasy some not. Have you ever explored any of the virtual worlds, and if you did, did you pick an avatar or create one that was “real” or did you let your creative expression out to play.??

How many of us love Halloween because we can dress up and/or let our fantasies colour and decorate our world,.. Every day should be a day where we can express our creativity, whether in what we will wear to day, or how you deal or handle a situation you are faced with.

Update on the car. the smell of moth balls is overpowering. It means the car is used for essential travel only. I’m told that it will be a few more weeks before the smell will dissipate. Thanks for following up. You are all so appreciated. Enjoy the new month, the mosquitos here are still on full attack, although wearing the protective netting has made a difference. Not taking pictures tho’ exposes the hands for too long, and gloves are…well.. let’s say… for now I’ll pass. Have a good day everyone!

Goals

Set your goals a little higher each time. If you keep avoiding difficult tasks, the joys and experiences in your life will be shallow. Always challenge yourself by setting your goals a little higher each time. (PL2012.03)

For me it is allergy season, (and let’s not forget the pesky bugs/mosquitoes)… I do my morning rounds and then come home.. There is an ad on the telly … where the windshield of a car is covered in pollen. Argh. If you suffer from allergies, you know how that picture can strike horror… ugh. I’m fortunate that as I’ve progressed in life (another way of saying aged) my symptoms are actually much diminished. AND no matter how it looks, I wear a hat with a netting all around it. Works wonders,

In my younger day, EGO would have likely not added such an item to my wardrobe essentials, Now I have two! One in a light beige and the other in that woodsy gray/green. one is smaller and fits my head just right, but the other was the only left in the store, it is bigger… but ., you know what.,, it covers a broader part of my shoulders, At first I was concerned my little friends would react.. but “food” is my calling card.. they don’t care if the human is wearing a silly hat,, They even know my car.. I’m not parked yet and I see the animals making their way to the “diner”…. Depending on my time of arrival, they can be impatient and scold and call out their impatience.

I have been doing this long enough now, I hear the early morning calls when they begin their mating songs.. and then there is the call of the babies… when parents are out getting food, The one bird I’ve gotten to know better is the woodpecker. It is fascinating to me how they have found ways to communicate to me, what they like and where they prefer me to put it.

PL Precept # 17 Grasp what is most essential

  • vary your arrival time in the woodlands.. earlier is best if you want to hear the activity of the birds..
  • if you have allergies to insect bites, use a lotion/spray and long sleeves.. the mosquitos are active
  • there are hats with insect protection netting, this will keep the pests away from your eyes/face.

1st door, is inspiration for a storyline. Had me wondering why not just change the lock or have another key made.?

Knowing my love of crows/ravens. Nick and Mel who are traveling in Europe and Iceland, sent a short video of the large gathering of crows/ravens when visiting these ruins, (they don’t show in the recapture of the doorway etc. but they were there and very vocal.)

The third door speaks for itself. Hope that one of the above inspires a story or two, Being this is Thursday Door day.. here is the link for the Thursday Door feature at Dan’s No Facilities site. https://nofacilities.com/2024/05/09/titanic-doors/

Patience

Don’t give up! Stick with it, as many times as it takes. Sometimes you want to just throw in the towel and say, “I give up”, but that is the time for you to dig deep and push through. Your sincere effort will invite a good outcome.

nugget… for seeing the birds, the earlier you journey out into the woods, the more likely you will find “activity”… we’ve all heard the expression.. “it is the early bird that catches the worm”
