Rustic charm in a big château built along the Ottawa River on the Quebec side. I meant to go back and take a picture of the main door under the covered driveway that protects passengers as they arrive and drop off their luggage etc.  but forgot, it had been cloudy with rain, and there were times it was just too dreary.  Not to mention busy with people arriving and leaving.

It was a seasonal late February day, the huge majestic stone fireplace was beckoning visitors to sit around the lounging area, and relax.  I enjoy the crackling of a roaring fire, the area was lit in such  way that the dancing flames were merrily putting on a mesmerizing show for all of us who  had succumbed to its many charms.  Huge, the fireplace had huge openings in different direction, so that no matter where you were seated, you could enjoy basking in its glow.

With that pleasant memory firmly planted in my noggin, I’ll head out into the colder brisk air of March 2nd. and run errands.

Thank you to all my wonderful friends, near and far…. for your kind words and support, you are rays of sunlight in my world. Your caring warms my heart, I appreciate each and every one of you.

As we drove along, the winding road seemed to disappear into a wall of fog.  There was a surreal atmosphere of quiet that wrapped itself around the truck.  We paused in our conversation to take notice of our surroundings.

Suddenly ahead we saw flashing lights.  2 men were standing by a truck, the drivers side door was open.  One man wore a bright yellow vest with a big fluorescent red X emblazoned on his back.  As we watched, he helped the other man put ona imiliar vest..  Ahead of the stopped truck was a big lit up panel blocking the way,  It too sported a big red X.

Slowing down, my husband rolled down his window… the one man who was already dressed in the special outfit, walked over to the truck, asking us where we were headed. When told where we were headed, he said, that we could go no further on the road we were on, but needed to take a detour that would be identified  when we turned the truck around.

My husband ever the news-hound, asked for information, and surprisingly we were told that there was a man with a weapon barricaded up ahead, and the whole area was cordoned off…  As we made our way to the detour, we thought about what we had been told.   Here we were out for a leisurely drive, content in our “world” and minutes away, was a very serious scene being played out.  Children were involved, the “suspect” was holed up in an area very close to a school.

This is very serious, we knew it was happening, but there was nothing we could do but proceed with our own “day” and let the “drama” play out as it may.  This was early afternoon, we later heard on the news, that the incident ended shortly after 5, no one was injured.  Maybe not physically, but what kind of “mental” stress was placed on the people who were involved in the incident.

On our way back, the fog had lifted, and the sun was shining.  It brought home for me, how important it is to live each moment with appreciation.  We never know what is around the corner.

NB* we had a wonderful drive, the detour proved to be a meandering back road that was delightful. WE did get to Montebello, my sister, was able to tick the destination off of her to see list. In life, there is always BALANCE . and as noted, by the time we were heading back, the sun was shining and skies were blue.

Life – Nature is ART

time was

dandelion-puff-1s

Time was when we met people face to face, spent time engaging in conversation, and learning about one and another. We exchanged information, experimented with little bits of information here and there, that gave us an idea of how similar or how different we were from one another.

Some acquaintances became fast friends, and others, drifted in and out, never really rooting in a place close by. Like a carefully planned out garden, we build friendships on personalities that compliment our own. Some bolster our insecurities, others are  comfortable, and nurturing, time spent with them is rewarding no matter what you decide to do.

P1000273_edited-1

Other times, we miss out on a new opportunity because we have only focused on the familiar and not ben receptive to a new encounter.  With the age of social media, the internet has changed how we gather and tend to our friends.  Some friends, we have never met in person, we may share time with them, and exchange views and ideas, but we have never looked into their eyes, or known their touch.

2014-05-03 2014-05-03 001 015I admired this trunk when I came upon it on a walk.  How many little critters worked to create this fascinating design, I’ll never know.  But it was through their collective energies, likely at different times, and stages in the tree’s life..   I was enchanted by a piece of history.

When I think of what is happening in the world today, I wonder how someone somewhere in time and space, will look at how we (human race) spent our time while on this earth. Will we have squandered the wonderful possibilities we have had placed before us. Will we build on our intelligence and creativity, or allow negative forces to stunt and cripple the beauty and transformation of love and friendship.

Now more than ever, we should all be united, in a common goal….World Peace.

In this case, my sister lovingly sought out and found this material  and presented it to me.  I loved it..  I wanted it to be something that would be used, and appreciated every day.  I don’t get to see my sister every day, she lives in California, but I appreciate her every day. This pillow graces our bed, so every day, she is part of my daily life.   A sister is a precious gift, I am lucky and have two =^_^=

naughty or nice

there-be-dragons_006

Have you been naughty, have you been nice, hear that a lot around this time of year.  It is all about perspective isn’t it. When someone is being naughty in someone’s view, he/she could be being very nice and totally appreciated by someone else. Perspective.

there-be-dragons_003

We are all so different, so unique in our own ways.  That is a gift from above.  The ability to be different, so that each and every one of us is blessed in an ability to enjoy and appreciate the creative expressions of others.

Respect and Acceptance

Mural on the side of an old building as you drive through a little town on old Hwy 31.

P1000561.JPG

The building is empty, there is a rental sign on the window off the front entrance. Where it had been a thriving community at one time, it is now a delightful little piece of history, as cars whiz by towards their destination further along the highway.

What seems so important today, can be a faint memory in the years to come.  We live in a world today, that has so much to offer, we intermingle with so many cultures, it is a time to prosper and learn from one another.

It is my prayer that we will not squander away, what so many have worked so hard for, fought for, and died for……

Lesson 13 of the 2016 =PL Calendar…. Each person has their own special qualities.  Each of us is born with a unique personality, and a unique worldview.  Be respectful of others and learn to get along with people of all types.

Chrome… beautiful shining chrome.some women love diamonds, they are nice, however, a well looked after bike, all polished up and warm from the ride.. Aaaahhh bliss.

p1000568The rider had stopped for a break, I was close enough to the bike I could hear her settling down, the little pings, and noises that she made… what a beautiful sound. I toured her, and enjoyed viewing her.  I believe that even inanimate objects know when they are loved and cared for.  This lady had to purr when she was on the highway.  Her owner took really good care of her.  She had every right to be proud.

p1000567I did meet the owner ,=^_^= , when I was asked how did I know who owned the bike, I needed only to look, they must have cut quite the figure when the two of them took to the roads.  Thank you Paul for being so courteous to someone who fell in love with  your very special “lady”.

PL Principle # 3 – I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things..

Never limit your dreams… appreciate the world around you… One second can be a lifetime. The time spent with that Harley had the excitement and thrill of delightful flirtation that took bloom and flew into the  storehouse of my daydreams.  It was a WOW factor

WE should all have them.. =^_^=

Riding such a bike on an open stretch of road, (secondary road) through valleys, hillsides.. would be AMAZING… The freedom of the open road, skies over head stretching out into forever, Yum….. no radios. no electronic gadgets, just the purring of the engine, and “man” riding as one. YESSSSS
