Stagecoach Road

stagecoach free clip art

Stagecoach road is a secondary highway that travels parallel to a more heavily travelled highway going from Ottawa, south towards the St. Lawrence.  It ends at Hwy 43, the stretch of road I travelled the other day.  Doesn’t really get a lot of heavy traffic, so it was a nice way to get to where I was going on a very hot humid day.

One side of the road is not built up so much as it is populated.   There was an old apple orchard that is now being “civilized”.. however, I did pass a  number of gravel pits, and a quarry or two.  All this to say, it was a nice drive.  My mind had a lot of time to dream up story lines, and imagine what life must have been like on this road, many years ago.

Yes I am a bit of a dreamer.  Part of me wanted to simply stop the truck and just enjoy some of the views… but today was not the day, the area here, was under a weather warning, super duper heat.  High heat, with lots of humidity. Back before we had weather warnings over the air waves, I’m sure people simply went about their business, no matter if it was sunshine, or rain.

Remember this picture I took on one of our travels, imagine it with a fresh coat of paint, brightly painted roof, with matching cheerful colours on the veranda, and all the vegetation, lush and green.  There is no hydro, so windows and doors would be open hoping for a cross breeze.

Children would be playing in the fresh air, chasing a ball, a little dog yapping and playing along.  A  woman can be seen washing clothes in a wash tub out back.  On a clothes line, there are sheets drying under the full rays of the sun.  Except for the cawing of the birds, and the sound of the little dog barking, there is nothing but the laughter of the happy children as they run and play, enjoying the day.

There would be no constant roar of traffic, racing by, the Mother need not worry about strangers arriving unannounced, the stage-coach would pass only twice a day, and it would only ride down the travelled road going from village to village. nowhere near this little home.  What today, takes us less than an hour, would be a whole day’s journey over dusty roads, through dense forest, and overgrown vegetation, on roads, often only wide enough for 1 carriage at a time.

All this from taking the journey down Stagecoach Road, when I looked it up .. I saw that there are other Stagecoach Roads in other Provinces, and States.

What does a Stagecoach Road, conjure up for you?

Some time, some days, I do get lost in time and space/place.  Life was so different at one time, yet, where I can romanticize what it must have been like, the reality is, I am such a city girl, I would be totally lost without the comforts of my home today.

PL Precept #1 Life is Art

Sydney Australia

A beautiful capture by Hillwalker (Darren Su)(Sydney Australia)

Life is about sharing, not able to see the vistas that Darren does in his travels, I enjoy his view of the world he visits and lives in. No two people will view the same sunset or sunrise the same way. It is always fascinating to see the world through the eyes of another.

Be open to new discoveries, as bloggers we are blessed with this opportunity many days in one given day.  I have discovered worlds and pieces of it, in so many ways, by sharing with fellow bloggers and readers.  You all participate in my world.  Thank you!!!

Give thanks and appreciation to all those that come your way today.

I sit high when driving, we have a truck.  I as struck by the vegetation and rooftops as I travelled how 43, going east.

It was a beautiful day as you can see.  The miles slipped silently by as I rode along taking in the views.  It was a “me” day.  A day to allow my thoughts to come and go, my only objective to watch the road, and take in the beauty around me.

hwy 43 9.16.17a

Farmland as far as the eye could see.  Small villages, and towns, expanse of fields waiting for harvest.  Rural Ontario. (250km)  Lots of time to entertain my thoughts.

PL Precept # 15  All is a Mirror    –  I sought tranquility and peaceful surrounding.  The Universe granted my wish.  I enjoyed conversation and friendship along the way, then back in the truck  as I continued on my way………….. the steady hum of the tires and visual delights as Nature provided the beginning colours of her  fall palette.

Just before the final stretch, I stopped for fresh produce and discovered a new fruit.  Ground cherries.  physalis longifolia

Enjoy each new day, give thanks for the opportunities that come your way.  Life is good.

Wednesday’s moment

hydrangea McDonald

Happy Wednesday everyone…. I was driving through a McDonald’s drive through for my ice coffee when I found myself beside a flowering hydrangea.  Now I’ve gone past it often, but that day, it was changing into it’s fall colours.  The summer white was giving way to the burnt peach/rust that will follow.

hydrangea 8.20.17

To remind you, this is what they look like in bloom early summer.  This picture is from the bush on my front lawn.  Hydrangea’s remind me of my Mother, she passed away last March, she was fond of the changing seasons,  with each passing year of  her time here on earth, she allowed nature to take its course, she would blossom in so many ways, it seemed to just happen.  Whatever, whenever, she never lost her youthful glow, that came from within.  Strength, determination, she held her ground.

This bush has been there for years, I always notice it, whether it is just its sculptured form during winter months, its fresh mint leaves come spring, or the first blossoms of another year.

My Mother is no longer here, but her presence is… When love is unconditional, no matter what… life/love combine, intertwine, harmonize.. like God it is everywhere, in everything we see and do.  The sky is always there, weather can change, but the sky is always there.

Blessings my friends… may your world shine, love is everywhere…

Thursday Doors and more

doors south mountain 8.23.17Some doors, are simply necessary.  required to gain access to a building for service or product.  Other doors, also serve a similar need, but look very different, and what they deliver is often more philosophical, and/or spiritual.

doors,church south mountain 8.23.17

Going through a small town, I saw lots of doors, and opportunities, but travelling on my own with a dog in the car, I felt that I shouldn’t make so many stops, although the weather was nice and breezy.

At the bank, they told me that dogs were welcome, (obviously I was not in the city, but a small town)… so… next time… I now I can bring Velcro in with me.  He did very well today, it was our first time, touring the country side on our own.

We stopped at the breeders, so he could visit with his “distant relatives” and former pack mates.  That was such a nice experience for us, his tail wagged, and his mates were happy to run in the enclosure and frolic in the fresh air.  Since Canaille’s passing, he has been on his own, and at times.. feeling the “loss” of his friend and companion of many years.

We forget that it is not only the humans that grieve, but a pack member will also feel the loss, Keeper, a female whippet who is expecting in the next week or so, was very nurturing with him.  It was a tender moment, they shared, and it lifted some of the weight of our loss from our shoulders.

On the way home we stopped at a couple of farms for fresh corn on the cob, cauliflower and broccoli.  This is the time of year to really indulge. =^_^=

Guess who will have steamed cob on the corn for supper…..

Till next time, thanks for the visit.

Tuesday – friendship!

hydrangea 3

When a friend lets you down

there is disappointment along with a frown

it won’t last long,

never-the-less it smarts

or hurts that someone you care for

so casually drops the ball

thinking nothing of how you feel

and appears not to care at all

hydrangea 8.20.17

on the surface

nothing seems changed

yet, I know now

that altho’ we had/have plans

my friend will again,

drop the ball

if a more attractive offer comes along

not a pretty reality, is it

I am thinking that

our definition of friendships

are not the same at all

sad..

PL Precept # 15   All is a Mirror

So I asked myself.. have I ever done this to my friend, answer no, never

PL Precept #17  Grasp what is most Essential

I’ll meditate and think on this..

meanwhile.. have a great Tuesday everyone… Have a great day wherever you are.
