Today

Today, it was cold, damp and gray

what a wonderful day for a visit to the park

after all, with it being so brisk,

there would be little risk of finding a crowd

I bundled up, filling my pockets with roasted squash seeds

Didn’t take long before I made a new friend =^_^=

who couldn’t contain her happiness at her good fortune, so it wasn’t long

before I had several other chicks singing along …. two beautiful blue jays joined in, they truly made me feel like I belonged …

Dark menacing clouds soon began to push aside the sunnier skies, the wind that had been merrily drifting along beside me, began to pick up speed, nudging me back towards my car. The temperature dropped, icy chill seeped through my jacket, till I no longer felt like I wanted to stay.

The ornamental grass waved goodbye as I sped away. They know I will return on another day.

fences

Fence – ” a barrier enclosing an area” . “enclose or close off an area”.. “practice the art of fencing”

some are put there for our safety, some or not respected
some get old and stand neglected

As I lay listening to the wind and rain last night, I heard how it began a tentative tapping and saw easy swaying of the branches. Later I was surprised by a demanding angry energy that caused quite a stir outside the house. I was grateful for the walls of the house that kept me safe inside from what sounded like a cold blustering howl of an energy. Any lingering dust on the windows or lying about outside, would be whisked away, I had no doubt.

I heard the rain as it pelted against the window panes, it fell washing/drenching everything in its path. Yet this morning, when I let the dogs out, the ground was already starting to dry. Not because of the sunshine, (there is none it was 6 a.m. and dark) but because where last night the wind brought the rain, now it was on its own, and drying out the wetness of the rain.

Hmmm only 30% precipitation for today, with a high of 42F not bad, winds could get up to 17 mph. Looks like a day to bundle up.

Your willingness to learn will make you shine even brighter. As long as you are motivated to learn more, you will continue to progress in life.

expressions

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. Say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the points of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium,

I see personalities in each tree I meet. Depending on the time of day, where the sun is, how the shadows play on their textured bark…I’ve never come across a tree that I haven’t liked. Humans are the same. =^_^= some are easier to spend time with then others…. but everyone has the potential of being someone you can learn from, share with, and yes, even be friends with.

Learn to be a person who welcomes change, appreciate the journey you’ve been on. Life is to be lived.

Love is the elixir of life.

little tree

A little tree sits on the forest floor

her friend the stump is being a bore

she dreams of growing tall

so she can be the belle of the Xmas ball

he reminds her that when the snow comes

she won’t be seen at all….

Everyone knows someone like her friend the stump

always ready to pounce on dreams

what a chump!

Fortunately she knows her worth,

the snow will keep her warm and safe during the winter months

she knows next spring, she will continue to grow

and the chump, Mr. stump will still be just that

a stunted lump of wood being over run

by the growth on the forest floor.

She smiles, in time, she will be able to shield and protect him

from the blazing sun, then he will know,

she will be his one true friend till the end.

Never loose sight of how much potential you have

don’t be content with the status quo,

for when you pray and believe in yourself

Your spirit will grow =^_^=

time is on your side, when we allow life to move us along

in the natural rhythm(s) of the Universe,

one step at a time, from one season to another

our roots will be deeply entrenched in solid ground

our branches will reach up high into the sky

and, and, we will live on forever….

isn’t “and” a wonderful word…

Today November 11 is also Remembrance Day in Canada, fitting that for us, in PL, it is Ancestors’ Day.

Saturday 7th

Today I am a tree, I stand here before you for all to see

My years of standing in one place has meant that I have a lot of memories

of what was, and can ponder on what will be

I know that as the seasons come and go, my history

is in plain view for all to see

my wounds have healed, and many of my arms have been broken

or been taken from me, yet I am patient for I know

that with the passing of time I will return to the earth/ Universe

Meanwhile, I will stand and wait for someone to notice me

I was strong and beautiful in my youth, my outer body is now

textured, my open wounds portraits of my many experiences

I salute you dear friend as you pass by and give thanks

that you did come by to spend time in my garden, my patch on this Universe.

May many blessings of the day shower your life with joy and happiness

Please come again, there may be less of my physical self,

but, always, my spirit will be here to greet you.

birch tree sap wine!

One never stops learning. I found a video on how to tap a birch tree. I never knew that there was such a thing as birch tree sap wine! https://youtu.be/h77ytr5UzBY

The sap can be drunk fresh or made into wine, syrup or ice cubes – the writer Maurice Clother says it is great with single malts or with gin and tonic… =^_^= Who knew.. (foraging for wild food) In the video he also shows you a homemade lathe. What a craftsman.

Begin each day with a renewed sense of appreciation. Always remember that you are here today thanks to God, and thanks to the many people around you. Let’s make each day meaningful by starting out with a feeling of gratitude.

standing tall

shadows in the fall

Fall and winter is when we get to see just how many trees there are in the the forest If you happen by at just the right time, you get to see their shadows adding to the design of the textures on the ground.

We had a light dusting of the snow still on the ground from the snow that fell the other day. Today with the warmer weather, it could disappear, in my next shot you will see the wonderful earthy colours of the ground that was more open to the sunshine.

I love the fall. Simple statement that I make each year. The season never fails to thrill me with its bountiful warm rich colours.

Wednesday moment

Found this in my files this morning, and wanted to share it. I am reminded every day of how much I have to be thankful for. Yes in PL we have Ancestors Day service on t he 11th of every month, but I include gratitude and thanks in my everyday prayers for ALL the precious encounters I have had over the years.

What I was searching for in my “stash” of photos was a simple bowl of rice, I know I have one somewhere. But when I came across the above one on the importance of living in the moment, I decided this one would do.

The world is changing, and we are having to adapt. We are all capable of living with change, for our own piece of mind, we adapt. Transitions tho’ are not like going to a movie, where you pay your admittance, walk in, spend a couple of hours in someone else’s “world” and then walk back out and presto, we are in a different head space.

When on our own, we are still me, myself and I. Funny how that works, even if you are in a partnership, always you will have your own thoughts and your own feelings. “yes ! no one but you can make inner changes, our life begins and ends with me, myself and I”

I thank the “virtual media libraries ” for the quotes used today. I have gathered such “wisdoms” over the years.. Having used many of them when being active in Pinterest.
