Try as I might, the beautiful face eluded me when the camera clicked. What a beautiful face, so bold, so striking. Sometimes called the beautiful magical vagabond, it seems that its appearance in the woodlands where I go, has drawn birders to the area to try and catch a glimpse. I confess I cheated, I bribed them with black seeds.. I got there and filled the empty feeders.. then stepped back and waited.
At first I thought ahhh I’m in luck a couple of blue jays arrived.. I got my camera ready, and of course as soon as I was ready they flew off. While I stood there deciding what I wanted to do I saw a flash of gold, and the wonderful masked head of the Grosebeak. Its face is so “arresting”.. the beak, and the markings on the face are vivid.
Their colouring is described as mustard yellow, with a big pale bill and gold eyebrows. I will have to go back and try again for a frontal view. I have googled it.. and see pictures of the face, but I want to capture a face for myself. An intriguing personality, I’m inspired. =^_^= I, of course am convinced there will be non as beautiful as the ones I saw today. =^_^=
To my long time birding friend, who knows until recently I have had no real interest in birds, “yes, I went out today and got myself a couple of Bird books so that I can identify the birds I find.” One of the ladies who sought me out to thank me for putting food out so they would come, had her ID book, from which she showed me the bird and the write up. Keeps it in her car she does..
This could be a passing fancy, but for now.. I am keen!
Always be cheerful, happy and good humored. When you make effort to be cheerful and happy, you will naturally begin to feel that way.
There are as many different doors, and entrances as there are pebbles on a beach. Each one tells a different story. Some are new, some old, some a mere memory, but always they are part of a bigger “story” .
Use any result, good or bad, as a stepping stone. All outcomes, whether positive or negative, are important experiences. Let’s use them wisely for our future progress.
I drove out to the woodlands this morning to see if the birds had decided to feed at the new feeders I put out the other day. I was pleased to see one, and then a second one land on the suet feeder. I had to refill the other ones I had put out with seed. Today I had with me stale bagels that I had broken into bits, I put out a basket and hung it from another tree. Didn’t take long for the call to go out amongst the birds… I soon had birds coming from all directions. =^_^=.. There had been snow overnight, and I had one tire that was loosing air, but I was glad I made the journey.
The rest of the day was spent arranging for the tire to be repaired. Then going back to the dealer to have the work done. While waiting for the car, I sat and read a newspaper, something I don’t do, except when one is made available to me. There is a good reason I don’t read the newspaper, it seems that for something to be worthy of print it has to be negative reporting. I did learn that our Prime Minister has a step brother, who has opposing views on life. (rolls eyes and stifles a yawn).
We are nearing mid December there are many “holidays” approaching, at one time there would be stories and pictures of decorated homes, features on the various traditions being celebrated in different communities. I saw none of that.
So, I thought I’d post of my happy visit to the woodland, and the activities of the birds, squirrels and other little creatures that inhabit the world in our green spaces. I hope to have my monopod this week, and then I will be able to experiment with it to capture better pictures of the birds that come to dine.
Treasure each moment in time. Life is a continuation of “now”. Treasure each and every moment as it comes, so that you can live your life as fully as possible without regrets.
Enjoy the moment while you wait… Things come about when they are meant to happen, Think of what you can do for the time being, and don’t rush the outcome.
With gratitude and appreciation in our hearts, we say goodbye to a man who touched our lives in a way that with his passing left us with a profound grief, yet filled with a joy that his spirit will be with us always.
Life is art –
Perfect Liberty – Precept #1
Oshieoya-Sama (Master Takahito Miki) lived the PL Way, and through his example, we (each and every member) benefited. We said/say goodbye, but it is only at the loss of his physical presence, for he will live through the teachings of PL. PL teaches us that every day is a new beginning.
We must continue to strive to live as ONE with the Universe, and work towards World Peace.
I had to stop and grab the moment. Of course there were no other cars, till I was out of mine and in the middle of the road taking this picture. I was sure that it was a dragon, but the song in my head was about a lion, so … you decide. I just knew I wanted a picture of him before he disappears. Do you see him?
Turn your intuitions into actions. Appreciate each intuition you receive and take action right away. By doing so you will invite good fortune.
We are all collectors of one thing or another. This is another one of my “passions” It is part of my “love” of wood, and things old and rusted.
When taking on a task, start fresh without being biased or jumping to conclusions. When thinking is too rigid, you will be unable to deal with ideas in a flexible and constructive way. Always strive to look at things with a fresh mind.
Perfect Liberty 2016.6
Take on the task even though you’re busy. You are busy because you are needed. Actively positively and creatively juggle your time to fit the new task in .
You might want to make the bed… but I’m comfortabletry it, you might like it
Habit is.. get out of bed. Make it.. Someone had a different idea, after her morning outing, she decided she hadn’t finished with her “bedtime”. I had to leave to get to church. Did she get to stay on the bed, or was it made before I left?
The key to solving problems is within you. the problems that appear before you can surely be solved. give it your best effort, and the answers will come to you as long as you remain strong in your conviction that all will turn out well.
In PL we learn how to live an Artistic Life. We have 21 PL Principles, that help us give us practical guidelines for our daily lives as PL Members. They are specific on how to live the PL WAY. How to reach a positive state of mind, so that we can express ourselves harmoniously and joyfully,
The first found of PL was formerly a Buddhist priest. The journey began back in. 1912. Since then PL has grown, it is an International school of thought that is practiced daily by its members, with physical churches in many different countries. Obviously we are very large community, in Japan is where we are headquartered. Members refer to the campus there as “the Holy Land” There we have our own schools and a hospital, ca PL church can be found almost everywhere when traveling Japan.
Brazil is the next largest population, PL is very strong and active in Brazil, Argentina etc. In North American, we have members and churches in NY City, and several in California, with a retreat and church in Hawaii. In Canada, we have our main church in Ottawa, Ontario.
I have given you all a brief background on PL, because since I have been writing this Blog, this community has grown, and many of you who follow and are part of my “family” here on WP, share with me, because we travel this life with similar philosophies.
IN PL we believe that every day is a new beginning. with the passing of our 3rd “founder” we will obviously be undergoing changes. Our philosophy is universal, our goal is World Peace. For this we apply our lives to being better individuals so that we are better citizens, loving parents, and loving, caring friends. Love begins within, in sharing Love, Respect and Understanding of/for our fellow travelers in this life, we Unite our energies towards World Peace.
The outpouring of well wishes for the man that led us these past years since early 80’s has been so touching, even as I write, I feel the tears come to the surface again. He was greatly love and example to us all ..his mortal journey was fraught with physical sufferings, but always, he maintained an inner strength that encouraged us, and supported us in our own personal journey. WE ALL know how our own storylines have been challenged with opportunities we didn’t always welcome.
His wish would be that we celebrate what IS, and that we acknowledge what was, and move on with the resolve to strengthen our own faith in PL, and that we embrace living with sincere efforts to harmonize with others, and make this world a better place for ALL who abide here, and travel this Universe with PEACE in our hearts.
Thank you to all of you who have reached out and expressed your appreciation and gratitude, continue to practice the teachings of PL, do Hosho, Pray, ask for Ooshieoya-sama’s Shikiri. Consult with your minister, when you can come to church, we are always available to you. LIFE IS ART. By leading a cheerful, joyful and beautiful life according to the PL teachings you will learn to work for the happiness of others as well as yourself.
