PL Precept #8 Live as the Sun

Good morning everyone! Today we welcome Rev.Goto Sr. Minister @ the Perfect Liberty Church in NY.City, NY. When reading his lesson for the service today, I thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted to share it with you.

Good morning everyone!

It’s a beautiful Sunday morning. Yesterday when I was walking on the street to go to the post office, everyone looked so happy to be out enjoying the warmth of the l sunshine. The sun is one of the most important power sources, which significantly affects our lives. So today I am going to talk about the PL Precept #8, “LIVE AS THE SUN.”

All living creatures in this world includes we humans live our lives by receiving the abundant power of the sun. The trees and leaves make photosynthesis to produce oxygen and many flowers start to bloom by receiving spring sunshine. Now in Japan, it is the famous cherry blossom season. The cherry blossom look especially beautiful when they are bathed in spring sunlight. During this season, all people get together under the cherry tree to appreciate the beauty and the joys of spring by bringing their favorite sake and bento boxes.

You may recall the story of the North Wind and the Sun.

The North Wind and the Sun were having quarrel about which of them was the stronger. When a traveler passed along the road wrapped in a coat, they started to compete, which of them can strip his coat off. The north wind sent a cold, howling blast against the traveler. But he immediately wrapped it closely around him, and the harder the Wind blew; the tighter he wrapped himself up in his coat to keep from the cold.

Then the Sun began to shine. At first his beams were gentle, then it grew warmer and warmer. The man naturally took off his cap; and at last he took off his coat by himself, then he took a rest under a tree.

The Second Founder gave this explanation on PL Precept #8 as follows; The meaning of this precept, “LIVE AS THE SUN” is to always feel refreshed and honest, live cheerfully, in high spirits, just like brilliance of the shining sun. We should also not have any worries or discontented feelings and we should always live honestly and sincerely just like pure, clear rays of the sun shining ceaselessly on the earth.

Then today we would like to study together with this precept; how to have always refreshed, honest, cheerful state of mind. The key of this is, to take every Kamuwaza lightheartedly and with good intention, then take positive action pleasantly toward the matter. If you receive Mishirase, let us take them with appreciation. Oshieoya-sama mentioned that the Mishirase is God’s merciful blessing in order to make us develop. Therefore if we don’t face Mishirase, we have no chance to progress. So it is important to say, “Thank you God!” when you receive Mishirase.

And there are some other useful tips to live in this precept “LIVE AS THE SUN.”

1, Let you not to talk badly about others behind their back.

2, Let you express ourselves bravely and shamelessly

3, Let you express light-heartedly (with little bit higher voice tone).

4, Let you take action right away when you notice something (without hesitation or postponing).

5, Let you clean up and keep our surroundings tidy up around you (which we have talked about previously)

6, Let us stop delving into the past (it’s important). 過去をほじくり返す

Oshieoya-sama said, “If you want to live as in this precept, please make your firm Shikiri at your Omitama, “I will live and express myself always brightly and cheerfully at any moment and place.”

Panoramic view of the Greek-Orthodox monasteries of Meteora

There was a time when our desire to pray and be closer to God/Universe was seen in the physical world around us. Many dedicated their lives to the practice of living only for that purpose.

A closer look at St. Stephen’s Holy Monastery, it was not built as high as the others, (during 16th century) it was badly damaged during world war 2 by the Nazis and abandoned. However dedicated nuns, came back and reconstructed it and are living and praying there today.

We no longer feel that we need to remove ourselves from the world around us, we know that God is everywhere and lives within us. The majority of us, need to live and provide for ourselves and family. It is sometimes hard to remember to make time for ourselves Precious time where we reconnect to the Spirit within.

I understand wanting to live where i can be with others who share my dedication to serving and being of service, to attain this, one must climb a steep and rocky path. In one of the monasteries I read about, the only access was by rope ladders and nets. Replacement happened only when “God let one break”

wherever you are, today is the present

you will only live it once

live it so that you will not have any regrets

Changes

Changes, every day we encounter a change in our lives. It is no different with a church. the church of PL is headquartered in Japan as you all know. In Japan the fiscal year is from April 1 – till March 31st of the following year. Thus when changes occur, they are announced at the end of the year with the changes taking place immediately (almost). Ministers are transferred to new communities, and this includes the churches in North American, South America etc.

Change will occur in our church, Rev. Tiago has been transferred to the church in Los Angeles. Rev. Atsushi Tsuji a young minister from Japan will be coming to Canada. What wonderful adventures for these two young men. Rev. Tiago and his young family are not long in Canada having come here from Brazil. He has learned to live in the extreme cold of a Canadian winter, and now will head for the dry heat of Los Angeles, California.

Rev. Tsuji will not only experience a change from his Native Japan, but he will be coming to his first assignment here in Canada, And no, dear readers, he does not speak English, never mind French. Fortunately he will arrive during the spring season, and will grow into his new home with the delights of a Canadian spring with the multitude of early spring flowers, tulips, crocus and the like.. In Canada, especially here in Ottawa, we have a bond with Holland, that is expressed with a magnificent show of Tulips in parks and in private gardens.

Picture below were taken during the Ottawa tulip festival, where the tulips are planted to offer up the photographer, tourists and visitors a chance to admire and enjoy their beauty. smiles, and of course to showcase our beautiful city.

So it is, we wish these two young men much success and adventure on this new journey in life that they are embarking on..Changes although at times a challenge, with packing, paperwork, and organizing in such a short period of time, we work through it, step by step, and when tackled with enthusiasm and sincerity (makoto) the rewards are a million fold.

For those of us who are not leaving, there will be a gap, a new personality will enter the community, and we will all have to adjust. Again, it is how we will meet this new opportunity that will determine our temporary disruption to “daily living” God/Universe is always going to ensure that we grow in spirit 28601a77418f0fdc87a3750dc7a02245 changes are what make us better people.

Can we learn from dishonesty?

When someone is dishonest, and it involves you, are you affected by their dishonesty?

It happens, we forget to listen carefully to what is being said, we allow feelings to get in the way. Or the perceived friendship that we think we are having is really not what we think it is at all. Really I believe that there is a part of us that recognizes the lie we are living, but for the most part, it seems to take a long time to really register.

Is the lie ours for not listening to our inner voice, or to the person who deceived us with their untruths. A conundrum for sure. It takes two people for a relationship to work, and when one is left to try to manage on one’s own, then it is no longer a relationship. I’m not talking of a social friendship, where one supports a friend, and is there for them through thick and thin. I’m talking about a special relationship where two people have agreed to share a common interest/goal or objective. the parameters are spelled out and they progress into the adventure. When one person changes the rules and brings lies into the equation, it isn’t long before the gulf begins to widen.

. Some pathways are well-defined, and we know if we step off we are in for a big fall. We take our time and enjoy the view, but the world around us is not really part of the path, rather our path is traveling through the world around us..

The railings keep us from seeing what is down below, we see only what is within sight of where we are being directed.

Same applies in relationships, no matter how we try, when we are walking through life on a constructed and laid out surface, we don’t go beyond the limits placed on us.

(Spanish) (English) You can Learn from Anyone. There is a limitation to our own knowledge and experiences. Listen carefully and sincerely to other’s opinions.” PL lesson for the day.

Dishonesty, deceiving, lying, cheating, these are all activities that will come back to haunt you. When we lie or create false truths, we are deviating from nature, from what really is. We not only deceive the other person, we deceive ourselves. Happiness can not last when it is based on lies. In life, we take more winding paths than we do straight roads. We are also responsible for the choices we make.

We may stand physically alone, but we are never alone.Nature, surrounds us and permeates are very being, with all that is real, the Universe is real, God is real. You and I with God, we are ONE.

To lie is a waste of time and energy, to lie and accept living a lie, is not being in Harmony with Nature. My choice, will always be to Love.and live in harmony with life/UNIVERSE

I truly believe that

PL Precept #18 Each Moment is a Turning Point

I retain my peace of mind,

and instead of suppressing a sadness/disappointment

I acknowledge it and move on

PL Precept # 19 Begin Once you Perceive

I can appreciate what was,

but I move in the direction that will nurture my spiritual needs

I want always to be ONE with the Universe/God

To love and feel love in my heart

PL Precept # 11 – Always be with God

PL Precept # 20 Live Maintaining Equilibrium Between Mind and Matter

It can be sad when friendships end,

but if you remember the good in what was

the happiness is always be

we don’t stop caring because a person turns away

love is unconditional

however, we sometimes have to accept

that the other person’s needs

were not something you could provide

you can only love them and pray for their happiness

Faith

Some days we climb the stairs to our destination

without a thought or glance

at the world that surrounds us

we hurry, we let our thoughts race ahead

never stopping our chattering mind

till our tired head hits the bed

we compartmentalize our days

storing memories away

to maybe revisit on another day

Time does get away from us

and soon the memories

lie like dust on all that was

and we are left wondering

how so many years were squandered

because we didn’t take the time

to cultivate and look after our core

we always wanted more

yet that never satisfied the need

for what we sought

we already owned

it is never too late

to rediscover our faith

we are all ONE

life is for living

faith in our oneness

our connection to the Universe

faith will open the doors

so we can once more explore

only now, we will be

aware of the road we are travelling

and feel the sun as it nurtures

and makes us ONE

abandone o apego ao dinheiro e aos objectos -Take the first step with Determination

When we BELIEVE that nothing is impossible, and we KNOW that we are ONE with the UNIVERSE, our FAITH and DETERMINATION will get us to where we are meant to be. Note I said, Where we are meant to be, not where we want to go.

Knowing this is what you can do, and doing it, is what choices are all about. when we are faced with a decision, if we hesitate, it is not the right moment, WAIT, when the time is right, you will know it, and act accordingly.

This is common sight in Morocco, where the goats climb Argan trees to reach their so loved fruit, which to them is obviously a delight to the taste buds. ( fruit similar to an olive). In nature, LIFE IS. We often make our own lives more difficult by trying to second guess something, or by not listening to our inner voice, and allowing outside influences to cause doubt.

Do what is right for you. If you need time to digest and ponder your life/day. Do it. Having a place or space to simply be yourself, and enjoy the moment is a gift, a luxury, a treasure that is yours alone. Know what you want, believe you can do it, and go for it.

an emotion shared

I would like to share with you a moment in history, it was a Sunday in early 2000 “I have to pause a little, reflect …. how am I doing?…. I think that yesterday was a day where I was left with nothing else to do but lie down and escape from the misery, and torrent of emotions that rose and pushed with a vehemence to break free from the depths of my “being”…..

Outside the sun shone, but all I felt was a cloud burst of sadness, relief, fear,anger, a jumble of emotions, erupted and poured from my “mind” like a turbulent stream running a torturous path. I could do nothing to stop the tears, the anguish…. it was simply a time to “stand still” in my case… I lay down and stayed down…

My eyes saw the lengthening shadows as the sun bid the day farewell. Then in the quiet of the room, there was darkness. Part of me an observer, all I could do was allow the ears to flow, the pain to subside.”

“How am I doing” that was yesterday, this is today (from the same piece written in 2000)

I’m sure you’ve experienced many such moments… everyone does at some time or other. The impact of such a collision (conscious/subconscious) is always a draining experience. A Jolt from above if you wish. The day after leaves me feeling l ike I’ve run a marathon… standing still.

There is no rhyme or reason for such “moments” they are part of the integral dance of life. I long ago came to accept that although I lean towards imperturbable states, the reality of life is “balance” one cannot know “true happiness” without having lived through “sadness”

This is not to say I was sad, or something was wrong, it was simply my need emotionally and physically to shut down, regroup, recharge, revitalize.

Sometimes chaos and calmness go hand in hand….

So…………”how and I doing” …. I’m doing just fine…..

I did my best not to change, rewrite, or even spell check the words I wrote back in 2000. . I wanted to share with you a part of me that one does not see often these days, Its terrible, I seem to be happy most of the time =^_^=, In fact, in and with God, I am very very happy! The road to where I am now, was not always fun, but it was one I lived and loved without regret.
