lessons – PEACE

lakeshore nick

Growing up, I remember my Mother collecting the tools she would need when she retired.  She was determined she would weave.  She also sewed, growing up in the early years before Father passed away, Mother made our clothes, pretty dresses, frocks with smocking, we were little charmers.

Upstairs she stowed her treasures, materials for sewing, wool for knitting, and the materials she would weave with.  We had boxes and boxes stored for that time when she would retire and spend her time lazily doing the things she loved.  Did I tell you she painted too.   Was a creative lady my Mother was.

When she finally did retire from her years in a Government office, away from her officer, desk and responsibilities there, guess what, she dove into her volunteering with a non profit group managing their business affairs.  She was part of a group of ladies who felt more needed to be done for seniors on low income,  They did what needed doing to have an apartment built to meet their goals.

Mother managed the building, did all that needed doing to keep it afloat. Went to meetings, volunteered with other groups, for other needs she felt were not being fully addressed.  Drove seniors for appointments, opened a tuck shop in the building she and the others in her group had now enlarged on ….She was part of Meals on Wheels.

All this to say, she never did her weaving, her sewing interested faded away, She did knit and crochet at night while she rested in front of the telly, but that was for babies in the home for unwed Mothers, blankets for the hospitals, you name it.. Mother had her hand in it.  If it was to help others, she was there with a helping hand.

She outlived most of her friends, (close ones) and others who she had know  over the years, were now, like her, too frail, age had slowed them all down.

We all do our best to live each day as best we can. If my Mother had any regrets, she never spoke of them.  My Mother and her friends were of a generation that grow up with World wars 1 and 2, they knew about scrimping, saving, and making do.  They also knew how fragile a life can be.

PL calendar day 31    Someone who is mentally prepared is strong.

Even when things look grim, if you take on the situation with determination, you will be able to make a fresh start with a positive outlook.

World peace is essential if we are to give hope to the next generation.  Love, caring, and understanding, begin within ourSelves.

Yesterday I went in search of a colour of paint that would mix well with what I had to enhance the suggestion of blood.  Dried blood.  Luckily where I shop there is always someone to help and with my cohort  Little Piglet, we spent a happy hour browsing and shopping.  I know it is not often someone comes in looking for blood, but Isabelle, at Scrap En Mass (Alfred, Ontario) was up to the task.  When you shop with a goal in mind, you are more easily able to describe what you want.

The ambience of the place is also a factor, the display of merchandise, the overall sense of creativity and fun that is generated by other customers.  The time spent searching out, then playing with the items later, is always an interlude, that passes quickly, it is refreshing.

Sorry for the quality folks, I was trying to handle it without ripping  or doing damage to it.  This menu was from the Regency Room, I think in St. Catharines, Ontario.  Long gone are those days,  The pies were all .20 cents a slice.

Anyone know what Bruxelloise is/was?

I told myself no way would I have a bedtime snack, but guess what, the call of the avocado toast was too great.

Our ancestors lived with the land, they worked hard to cultivate and bring what they hoped would be lasting foundations for generations to come.

In Perfect Liberty we celebrate our Ancestors every month on the 11th. We offer our appreciation and gratitude for all that was, that made us who we are today.

Our ancestors built and walked through many doors.  Many still stand today.  A humble home with a solid door, one that opens in welcome,  and at night provides shelter from the cold.

Open your door today, welcome the opportunities that come your way, carpe diem …. seize the day.

Have a joy filled day, may your hours be filled with blessings that  stay with you forever.  Life is meant to be lived.

—————————————————————————————————————————————— the day started at an easy pace, we were all still worried about Sam’s delay, the estimated time of arrival was July 11th. mid day.  Finally when we still had not heard, we had no choice but to wait till today.

The surprise was that  Celine arrived a day early… so time was taken getting her settled into her rooms.  Her hair was a fright.  Nothing would do but she wanted time at the spa.

Sam bless her heart, finally arrived, by this time, we were nearing panic mode.  All is well, Dragon Soft, kept us calm.Sam getting used to being here 7.12.17Sam was really tired, we have all decided it is best to let her rest up before we  find out about her journey here.  (from United Kingdom) (A girl for all Time)

A day is made up of many segments, “chapters”  enjoy them all.  Q

Chop Suey Friday 6.2.2017

found 5.30.17a

We’ve all had them.

Some more often than others.  Days when we are going all day, but come the end of the day, as we prepare to shut down, we realize that things are still left undone, unfinished, or just not “jiving”.  You might be ready to call it a day, but the projects you started are still in  “hey, what about me” mode.

The next day I went out to buy the above doll an outfit of some kind, to cover her up. Looked, searched, and finally decided on an outfit that came with another doll,  in the same series. (or so I thought)… when I got home, the other doll and her clothes, were maybe half the size of Jezebel …  So Jeze is still naked.  AND the picture, well, at the moment, I’ve lost interest.  So it is still hanging around too.

Today was church day, on the 1st of every month we celebrate Day of Peace.  I had made arrangements to take Sienna (doll) into have her ears pierced today….nooooo I’m not kidding.*..  I had planned to get her to the store for 9:30, but was reminded that the service today was at 10 a.m.   I love the formal ceremony that we do.  I always feel so at peace and “content” when I am not part of it, but sitting and taking it all in.  Rev. Eugene was a “doll” and said he would do it all today, so that I could just sit and enjoy.  What a treat, I soooo needed that  “precious time”  I could feel negative energy falling away.

The rest of the day, flew by, I drove from one end of the city to the other, even took the super-duper highway instead of winding my way on the secondary roads.  Got all that I wanted to do, done.  Came home with time to spare.

All this to say, there are times when life just  hiccups along, we seem to be spinning our wheels…. However, we have to have these times, so that when it is smooth sailing, we know to appreciate and be grateful, for the blessings that come our way.  Blessings come in all shapes and sizes.  Sometimes the blessings are in disguise,  PL Precept #11  Always be with God.  When we stay connected, life is good in whatever way it greets us.  Jeze may still be naked, but I sure do enjoy her   “attitude” and the half done painting, well, it is what it is.  Eventually I’ll use parts of it, or all of it.. I’m not concerned, That was yesterday, and this is today.

Thursday Doors 4.20.17

P1000339

Another time, another place

lazy days, quieter times

where television news didn’t rule the day

where children played in innocence

in country lanes or on tree-lined streets

off the towns central core

of country store, drugstore, and maybe a diner or two

with a small town community center

and of course the church

where friends and neighbours

gather Sundays to pray.

Today on Thursday Doors I searched for this picture, that I might have shown you before.  It inspired me then, and it does now.. because my friend, I want to slow down, we are not slowing down before we act.  We are seeing this in the upheaval in the world around us.
We celebrate the past, and the soldiers who died for a cause.  Yet on the next page is a story of aggression and violence.

People move to the country to get away from “city” living, and then they want the “city” comforts to be built around them,  Where once the quiet town enjoy a peaceful surround.  They discover that where once the dairy farm had been, a big box store was going in.  The lovely little glen and babbling brook that ran behind the farmer’s home, was being paved over for a parking lot

Doors are opportunities. They open to new discoveries, or close to hide or forget the past. Doors are symbolic, doors are not a decoration, they serve a purpose.  This door, to me, is symbolic of another time, a reminder that yes, we can go forward, and we can progress, but look how well maintained this door is.  It may be plain, but it serves, and it is respected, someone has lovingly kept this building maintained.

Let us look after our selves, we do maintenance on our cars and homes regularly  to keep them tip top.   It is time to make sure that we maintain balance in our lives too. Spiritual healing, is imperative, put love back in our lives, not lust, but LOVE

PL Precept 14  World Peace is Everything

PL Precept # 20 Live maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter.
