This picture was taken by a friend who wanders upper NY States taking pictures – in particular at one time he was very interested in covered bridges. He would get up VERY~ early and take off on his search, a by product would be scenes he would capture along the way. This one I found to be cheerful. with its sunny flowers - Ottawa right now is dealing with some very unpleasant “happenings”.. our weather has been up and down, cloudy skies, overcast, I went hunting for some “HAPPY”

Our choices are not always easy, and sometimes we have to really meditate and work at changing our mind set. Anything worth having is worth waiting for – patience … Yes.. that goes into the recipe. Prayer/meditation, patience, faith and ability to believe in ourSelves. No one can make us happy, we are the makers of our own happiness. I choose to have “HAPPY” in my life.
Friends, friends are important in our lives. Good friends, friends who can listen, and simply be there to hold your hand when it needs holding. No one can solve or make “things” better… that journey is ours and ours alone. but you can bet your sweet booty, a true friend is worth their weight in precious metals.

Such is the way of life. Each day is a new canvas. Each day we begin a new adventure. Sometimes, we are able to simply get on with the day, and other times, we are obliged to wait or take other actions before we can begin to even start on original plans. In my case, I either have to wait for the plow to pull out the snow in the lane, or I have to shovel a path to get out of the garage with the car.. and hope the street plow hasn’t put a huge pile of snow across the end of my laneway
Help the people around you smile more. Always strive to make those around you smile. that will bring you joy too.

I could go back to bed. But… no.. that would really turn my schedule upside down. Besides I want to see and hear my birds. Guess I put on my boots/coat and head out to find the shovel.
A community that prays together, stands together… Yesterday one of our young members had a very “bad” day. We are all praying that he will have a speedy recovery and that his family and friends feel the power of our prayers.. A heartfelt thank you to everyone yesterday for rallying around at a time when we needed to join in prayer. I will be in touch later with updates. In faith we stand….in prayer we are ONE.
Start today with a fresh outlook. Even though people and situations may look the same, they are constantly changing. Start each day with a fresh mind.

A reminder that in life, when we are faced with challenges that test our mortal strength/abilities… we are never alone when we “Believe” Always there is someone ready to hold/embrace/ and comfort you. Prayer has no boundaries, no physical limitations.
Think of the timing before you say “but…” When stating your opinion, make sure you are being respectfully of others opinions. Be mindful of this when you speak.

The day started out very mild, in fact balmy. When I stepped outside I could hear the ice melting, there was a gentle rain falling that was very soothing. By the time I got to the birds, you can see that the Blue Jay was wet, it was a rain mixed with fluffy snowflakes.
By the time this picture was taken we were getting ice pellets, the temperature was no longer pleasant.
When you face difficulties start with anything you can do. When you are able to grasp the situation, you will surely be able to notice something that you can do.

The flash freeze that had been predicted had arrived. I was happy I’d started out early and that all the feeders were stocked. Nothing is a bother/problem when we are prepared.

This female Grosbeak is the only one I have personally seen this winter. Last winter we had so many of her “family /relatives” it was an amazing winter to spend time with them and watch their antics. This year she has been on her own. Thank you Daniel for this wonderful picture of her. Your patience was rewarded, and I’m delighted to be able to show her off to our readers.
His top picture was one I copied (with his permission) some time ago, I was having a difficult time with “grief” and a bit of “loneliness”.. This winter for some reason, even tho’ it will going on 4 years this spring, since my husband passed – I have had a few bouts of what I call “tortured anguish”. I found Dan’s picture (the top one) made me feel “peaceful” it helped me to touch deep within me.. I allowed my mind to focus on the softness and the gentle spirit that he captured when he took the photo.
I’ve seen him standing stock still in minus degree temperatures.. for long stretches at a time, he actually seems to become part of the landscape.. I’d come up to my feeders and not even realize that he was there, he would be so quiet and still. In meditation and prayer I have been known to sit in stillness lost in the moment of NOW. I’ve meditated/prayed in Grand Central Station, it is a quiet that takes time to master, but once we find that “state of Being” it is one we cherish. However we all know, it isn’t always easy to “BE” we can’t just flick a switch and we’re there.
You can be with God by having a prayerful mind. Let’s pray for World Peace. We are all one big family. Let’s start by praying for the happiness of those around us.

You know its a good day when the snow plow is following you. =^_^= Yes, I still make the trek out to the country. Weather is not a deterrent. In fact, it makes for a new canvas and offers the opportunity of a different experience.
