Female Evening Grosbeak
Good Morning meet our queen of the woodlands theses days, Our female Evening Grosbeak that has been at the feeders these pasts weeks. These photos were taken by photographer “Sasha” for now if you want contact information, please text or contact me. Sasha is another faithful “bird photographer” who patiently waits for the birds to “pose” for him. The top two really show her precious little face and her expressions.

Grieving
There is no expiring date on grief….grieving is something that happens and we have no control of how it will affect us or for how long we will live with the emptiness and sense of loss.
Its a door that just never closes… a pain that seeps into every nook and cranny of your being. Just when you think you’ve moved on, when you feel the sun on your face, or a chirping bird sits on your shoulder, yes there is that moment of awe and pleasure, but… it passes… then the shadow slips in, and you feel the burden of the pain, the emptiness of loss.
“Time heals” you hear it time and time again.. yet as the years go by, when you least expect it… a sliver of the cold grief wraps around your heart once again. There is nothing to be done… it will pass. It does, but let me tell you, from the moment the icicle begins to drips its glistening tear, you are engulfed in the hopeless feeling of loss. The shattered pieces of your heart lie like broken shard with edges that are still too sharp to even begin to pick up.
You can’t go back .. you can’t retreat, you can only accept and live through the moment. The more you seek solitude, the more it eludes you. Love that endures, love that wraps its tentacles into forever, is beautiful, but it has a cost. How many moments were squandered, lost to foolish pride/ego. The seasons will change. and yes, you will get by, you will live another day… But oh… how crippling the grief is when it comes to call.
Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

snow day
So far we have had a foot of snow and it is only 10:51a.m. it is forecast to snow till around 8 pm this evening. I did manage to get out to where the crows will gather if I put out food. It was shorty after 7 a.m. it was as you can see very overcast, and snowing when I ventured out. It was snowing lightly, as the day progresses the snowfall is heavier.
Start today with a fresh outlook. even though people and situation may look the same, they are constantly changing. Start each day with a fresh mind.

Driving was slow and visibility was awful. Took my time, fortunately I live near main roads, and was able to pretty much follow plows all the way to where I was headed. I did not dilly dally, as soon as they were fed I came back home.. drove into my garage, got out.. shovelled in front of my garage (a car’s length) and my steps leading up to the veranda.. Used the remote to close the garage door, and came inside to the warmth and comfort of my home.. where I plan on staying till tomorrow. 5 minutes after I got in, the contractor came by with the plow to do the first run of my laneway.
Where ever you are today, enjoy the day, make good use of your time. I roasted a turkey leg with baby spuds, that will be my lunch.
Stay safe, stay warm, and be mindful of all that is the world around you.

Silent Night
The night was clear – the darkness was inviting – there were few stars in the sky – a stillness lay over the land – she moved with slow deliberate steps, yet her feet barely touched the ground – her movements were almost invisible shadows …the moon’s sliver of silver light highlighted her graceful form as it now picked up speed…. did I imagine her… one minute she was there, and then… … the night was clear. Only a faint scent of a lingering breeze eluded to her having been.
There are days when the you know .. the night hasn’t gone away.. it is waiting in the wings.
Appreciation is the driving force for progress and development. Express your appreciation with enthusiasm.

Turkey here a turkey there
I was delighted yesterday to meet up with Ed Hodgins, where else in the woods of course… smiles… how does that song go, “if you go out to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise”.. lol mine was meeting up with Ed who I had not seen for awhile. he was of course out taking pictures, he had his faithful camera at the ready, and a bag of “goodies” for the birds to entice the feathered beauties.
We, the “birders” who enjoyed the Evening Gros beaks last year, are waiting to see if they will return this year. I certainly hope so.. They were delightful last year. Meanwhile I asked Ed if he had any pictures of wild turkeys, and he did! (see two top pictures). Kevin bless his heart, remembered I was looking for Wild Turkeys and sent me footage from his inventory of pictures.. I get to do my turkey post!
No, I have no idea why I had this interest in the turkeys this year.. they just seemed to catch you fancy, but were always eluding me when I had my camera with me. Does anyone out there know what their vocal call is? They are always on the move like in Kevin’s picture when I see them or eating in some farmer’s field.
What is normal is different for each individual. Everyone has a different way of thinking and doing. It’s important to understand others’ feelings.
