Wordless Wednesday -PWD -Porti

Portuguese Water dog, also known as Porti, or PWD, prayer garden 4.18.12 026

This is our current Porti, she is now a senior, and as spoiled as ever.  Hard to get her eye action, but she is and will always be a charmer.  The breeder didn’t name her Canaille without reason,  I tried to find her pictures from the days she was winning ribbons, but they elude me.

Thanks for asking to see more of Canaille, she is the apple of my eye.. my one and only… =^_^=   .. and of course… I am smitten.

Blessings…  Have a wonderful week.  Imagine, we are almost through the week.  In Canada this will be a long week-end coming up.  This is the time when gardeners get serious.  Really serious.

Winnie quote 2

NH discovering

IMG_2997

Hello on Tuesday.. Was bright and sunny here today, yet where I would be up and out of the house bright and early, I was slow in getting going.  Happens, I may have mentioned that while in NH I was suddenly hit with a flash of recognition.  I didn’t want to shop, or really look around. I had enough!  I’m sorry, for those of you who have had to pick yourselves of the floor, I assure you,  it really happened

IMG_2984

Such things do happen.  Let’s face it, a book was written about the “strange events” that have been recorded to have happened, in the hills of NH. Shrouded Memories, True Stories from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, by Floyd W. Ramsey.

IMG_2994

Will it last, who knows.  So far, so good, I ran errands yesterday and today, and was not tempted to browse, or “look around”.. I applied myself to what needed to be done, then came back home.   I do have some of my artwork on display  at  Raglan Art Walk 2017  in SL, I have participated for the last couple of years.  I do need to send out some invitations.

IMG_3006

What you see here, is my darling Canaille (Portuguese Water Dog) watching her human “daddy” eating a sandwich while relaxing with his “notebook” after a day of driving his “lovely” wife around touring the wilds of NH.  You can see she is trained on his every move, I think, she believes, that if she waits it out, he will drop something.  LOL he never does, but she never gives up hope.

That is what life is all about isn’t it.  We need to live each moment, focused on what we are doing, appreciating the moment.  When we are “hit” with an “idea” or “inspiration” we should listen, take heed, recognize that it is a  “personal” message”

NH fever

IMG_2952

Spring fever, the desire to be outside, to be part of the awakening vegetation.  I could almost see the grass turning a deeper shade of green right before my eyes,

IMG_2944

I probably passed this drain many many times, last year, but this year, Wow, it popped up, and mesmerized me with its geometric design.

IMG_2950

Of course I’ve seen the brilliant yellow early flower of the forsythia bush, but in NH it was even brighter and more beautiful against the green of its companion Juniper or was it a Yew.  Who cares, it was a delight.

AND really have you ever seen a better piece of art.  Made in the good ole USA. =^_^=

Art is everywhere.                Discovering in NH (New Hampshire )!!   what a great way to spend leisure time.

a funny thing

Mother Nature 4.27.17

Something funny has started to happen, at the end of each day, I pull down a canvas or another form of painting platform, and I recap my day.  Nothing in mind, just a glance over my inventory of  tools, and my hands and “unconscious” thought take over.

I’ve always said, “I can’t do a journal” when asked if I have a journal, oh, I have lots of potential journals.  I love collecting them, but somehow, I don’t seem to be interested in writing in them. OR drawing in them.  I did start doing “art” journals, remember that, I got books and was keen on recycling the pages into artistic “expression”  I still like the idea, but that “action” evolved, I began to recycle canvas I’d find in Thrift shops, but as my husband has patiently explained, we only have so much wall space

In fairness to myself, I don’t really want to put up all the canvas that I paint.  But it does have to dry, AND some I do like to revisit.  BUT  once I do them, express that one “emotion/thought” I let it go. Working on Acrylic board, canvas sheets, or water-colour pages works far better, I can then once they are dry, store them till I decide to cut one up to use part or parts of it for a background for something else.

And why pray tell am I sharing this with you.  In PL, our first precept is #1 Life is Art.

Think about it, many of you I know read my blogs, and you relate, maybe not to all of what I go on about, but some of it definitely resonates with you. With me, my daily lessons come from my “art” my writing, painting, how I deal with a “challenge/opportunity”  sometimes, I am a wiz, it works out just fine, other times, like putting paint to paper it really pops, just not the “harmony” you’d hoped or thought would reflect back at you…. PL Precept # 15   All is a Mirror

In PL we don’t do “sermons” we talk about the precepts, and how they are useful to us in our daily lives.  Much like you read here in my blogs.  I mention this because, over the years, I have been blessed with new friends through this blog who are not PL members but who share with me, their thoughts and comments, I LOVE IT.

Sometimes we begin a project thinking we know just how and what we will do.  Over time I have grown, listened, and learned from you, my delight in the world has expanded through the growth of my online, virtual friends.

How does my “garden” grow….. YOU make it blossom, YOU bring your thoughts and energy into my world, and I THANK YOU.

miss Fisher, aunt prudence

If you are a fan of the mystery series out of Australia, Miss Fisher, they you will recognize, this home, as the home of Aunt Prudence.

Miss Fisher's house

The above is Miss Fisher’s home, the day my sister and nephew visited there were signs that they would be filming from that location later in the week.  I really enjoy this series, not only for the time (period) pieces, but the wardrobe the star of the show, Miss Franny Fisher wears.

This is a time in history, where I enjoyed the architecture of the homes, and the fashions of the day.  That Australia has such lovely buildings from the period would entice me at some time in the future to board a plane to see them for myself. I have seen wonderful architectural buildings from the Art Deco period on Florida..

Having a sister who loves to globe trot has its benefits =^_^=… I can appreciate she does all the packing, waiting in airports, doing tours,  and jet lag.  My nephew, whose photography you have enjoyed,  follows in her footsteps.  For now I’m content to be an armchair traveller.

Appreciate what others bring to you that enhances your delight of new experiences .. =^_^=

a chop suey day

flowers 4.22.17

A beautiful sunny day after all.  A late start to the day, but once on the road, it was lovely.  The further from the busy pace of the city we got, the calmer I felt. With nothing really planned, it was nice to wander towards where we wanted to visit, but with no real need to be there, we could enjoy the ride.

The fields are bare, barren, trees are waking up, but there are still no buds in sight.  Other years we would have seen some sign of new activity, not so this year.  Low lying fields are damp, wet and in some places completely covered over by water.  I looked for animals, but except for a few sheep, resting in the sunshine on higher ground, there wasn’t much to see.

acrylic spools and needles

I did find a large quantity of a full range of colour in acrylic spools of yarn, and the needles to work with them.  Have I a clue on what to do with them, no.  If anyone out there knows, I’d love to hear from you.  I was smitten by the colours and the prospect of doing something artistic with them.

doll 4.22.17 18 inches VV Kanata

My husband sighed quietly when I climbed back into the truck with my little one… “I thought you said, you weren’t going to start collecting dolls”  the dear man, it wasn’t a question, he shook his head.. He didn’t say it, but he was thinking.. he hoped this phase will be short and sweet,  he really is the VERY BEST. =^_^=

There was much more we explored and experienced, it was simply one of the nicest of days..  I came home content with my “treasures” .. I had done the background for the flowers before we left.  After supper, the flowers magically appeared, it was 1,2,3, et voila, I was smiling.  I liked what I saw. =^_^=

Every day won’t be like today, but the happy days, out number the “gray” days. The minister in NY. wrote that we need to apply ourselves more to “living like the sun” PL Precept # 8.  I agree, and will try hard to practice being more cheerful, and to see the world through fresh eyes every day when I wake.

Happy Sunday everyone.. The forecast calls for blue skies with a lot of sunshine.  Enjoy!

Thursday doors 2 – continued

The house can be seen as you drive into Cornwall off the 401 going west.  From the off ramp it looked so lonely, so forlorn.  The inside is completely a mess. Without proper footwear and a hard hat, I wouldn’t venture too far inside.

The area around the house  looks like at one time it  had been a tended  lawn and garden.   I’d say a farm-house, the building (that also stands empty) that you drive past to get to this one seems to attest to my thinking, but then?   It is a brick building, perhaps when the land was expropriated for the highway, they built further back.. Of course with expansions.. this is no a place for a  “home”..  – for sale (land) it would be commercial property now.

I love the old wood, even with age, it has a quiet dignity to it.  The homes being built today, I don’t see the same character or get the same feeling of seeing a structure that was built to last, a home for generations.

The basket in the upper right corner, I remember when we would find them at markets filled with fresh farm vegetables.  How long ago since the last resident put it outside, perhaps filled with fall produce or an autumn display of bright foliage.

The house has been vacant for some time.. the wild trees, shrubs and grasses have been reclaiming what was once a tended lawn.

Thanks for visiting with me.  It was important to me.. to give the house  some  love attention, maybe one last time..  the new gravel down on the road leading to the area, suggests that something is “in the wind”

Progress so necessary, but at what cost……

paint time

P1000646

Good day everyone….

No two artists when looking at a blank canvas see the same thing.  Two photographers looking in the same area, along the same street, will each have a different “capture” in their lens.  Ever heard these words.. ” you were there, didn’t you see bla bla bla”   Well, you both might have been there at the same time, but you both very likely didn’t see the same things.  Each would have viewed the scene or circumstances from his/her own perspective.

Now the word “artist” what does it imply?   Or the word “crafter”  are they one and the same… hmmmm. you thinking about it?

Does it come down to how quickly you want your pant to dry?  No two mediums dry the same way ,even when choosing an ink pad, you have to know what you want to do with the ink you are using.. if you use the wrong kind, your inks can bleed or run… even when you thought it was dry… kinky right..

P1000647

That is why I love life and all the artist challenges it provides.  When I make the wrong choice, .. I get to start over or try to work with the results of my 1st choice. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it just doesn’t.  A friend draws in chalk, she lives the moment, when it is gone, she has lived the experience,  and moves on.. that is a beautiful way to let go.

I loved the play of shadows and light on the bramble above.  It struck me at that moment that it was full of intrigue. Today should I see it again, I might not give it a second glance. It would simply be a mass of twigs and branches waiting for spring  and rejuvenation.

La vie est belle, it is our perception that can cloud or colour our view.

I prefer arylic and water colours to oil… why…. paint time… =^_^=
