Kindness

muted colours

We need to foster and nurture, basic human qualities, warmth, compassion and kindness. These were the thoughts that ran through my tired brain last night. The world is becoming cold, difficult and frightening, anxiety is everywhere. In PL, we strive to practice kindness in our every day lives.

This morning while driving to church, I stopped to capture a bit of the fading fall colours at one of the “green spaces”, I did find colour, but it was this field of muted vegetation that caught my attention, alone they are just a plant whose growing season is coming to an end. Together, they looked like a Monet, they gave me a sense of calm, and serenity … they all blended and harmonized under the sunlight that was building in the sky.

“I believe that if we stop and think, it is clear that our very survival, even today, depends upon the acts and kindness of so many people.” His holiness the Dalai Lama

Your smile energizes the people around you. A smile has the ability to put others at ease and give them energy. Strive to be the first to offer a smile each day to those around you.

Friday finds

Ever find yourself in a situation that every place you head for, is out of reach, I got across the river to the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, only to find a detour on the road I wanted to take. OK, I know the city so I took a side street that ran along the parkway.. thus the wonderful colours, and the picture that is a burst.. is where there is a foot path that takes you to the Gatineau Parkway (which was closed to traffic).

I changed my plans and decided I would head up the 148 (highway) only to discover that most of the road from where I was starting out, was blocked and closed due to construction. This then took me by the Hull Armories.

the only signs of life when I pulled in… you can see they were not interested in me.
one did stop, but after a quick once over, snubbed me.

Giving up on my decision to take pictures on the Quebec side, I decided to come back to Ontario side … Plus, there was word that the border might be closed, due to the rise in Covid numbers. Gatineau I was told was code Orange.

Suffice to say, my adventures continued on this side of the river, but I will save that for another day.

The everyday things you do will show when it really counts. If you have a tendency to be careless about everyday matters, you cannot expect to perform well at crucial times.

Always think that “everything will work out” when you allow yourself to be pessimistic, your thoughts and actions become sluggish. Approach everything optimistically without hesitating.

I am taking a positive attitude tonight… I am going to rest, RELAX, chill, and just let life happen. Tomorrow will be another day. Tonight I will find comfort and joy in a freshly made bed and pleasant dreams. =^_^=

I am woman

https://youtu.be/rptW7zOPX2E

RIP Helen Reddy, she cowrote I am Woman with Ray Burton. Inspired by her involvement in the women’s movement, the song gained popularity climbing the charts, she was the first Australia singer to hit number 1 in the US and earned her a Grammy for Female Pop Vocal Performance.

We also said goodbye today to Mac Davis, American singer-songwriter, who was from Lubbock Texas. Mac was known for his easy laid back songs, he also wrote for Elvis Presley (In the ghetto)… https://youtu.be/Ll8BBZCNoqk

abstract art?

a trip down memory lane
once a busy equestrian destination
being watched
tracks leading to?

The past, present/ now and tomorrow.

Standing there on the railway ties, looking down the line, I wondered how often, a train travelled down, past were I was standing.

I had stopped to talk to the cattle on the the hill. Saw them from the road, pulled over to the side of the road and turned back. They couldn’t have cared less, who was this strange being calling to them from the fence. The horses in the top picture, were not interested in giving me the time of day either. Just because i wanted to interact with them… didn’t mean that they would be interested in dialog with me. Such is life.

The world in abstract, the sign, lured me with its emptiness, half there, I still found it beautiful.

The trees planted in a line along a now unused road, still had a sense of majesty to them. True they no longer created a wind break for the horses, in the now empty field… but they stood tall, and gave dignity to the landscape.

The two hoses checking me out, were new to the paddock having arrived just a few days earlier, to them, I was a curiosity, they still had to figure out if i would be part of their new lives.

We are all transient, some times we get to stay a little longer than others, in one place or another, the reality is… no two moments are the same.

Trains were a way to escape to distant places. Now of course, to go even further we have planes. The truth is, no matter where we go, or how many miles we put between us and yesterday, we are always still abstractly speaking, right where we always are. In our personal space. Dealing with the NOW we cannot avoid.

I am the abstract sound of wind in the trees and sunlight dancing on water…

Enjoy the moment while you wait. things come about when they are meant to happen. think of what you can do for the time being, and don’t rush the outcome.

Sometimes, I need to wander back roads.. today was such a day. My son and I often talk of how important it is to live in the Moment… There is no time like the present. =^_^=

the Fence

The fence stood for years, aging with time,

taken for granted it stood outside, rain or shine

Finally someone took notice and made the time

To clean away the years grime and give it back

its sense of pride The fence is faithful in its duty

No one can come on the grounds without being greeted

and guided along the church grounds.

it does have a purpose, it wasn’t built just to be pretty.

Showing appreciation, is not a waste of time

our fence is now once more standing proud

always on guard, ready to serve for years to come

Please notice next time you come around

the church fence will bid you welcome and adieau.

the wood is smiling, it really is.. =^_^=

Happiness is

nature’s natural beauty

It had started to rain, small droplets fell on my windshield, I was prepared for a downpour.. but.. no, the rain stopped.. I looked over to my right and saw the tall grass and the trees with their fall colour, and couldn’t resist.. I pulled over and got out. Traffic be darned. As if on cue, the traffic trickled to zero. I was able to stand there, admire the beauty… and take in the moment without the sound of tires on pavement.

Moodie is a busy road but I was blessed with a quiet few moments, and for that I was truly grateful… it was such a refreshing and rather intoxicating moment. I had been having a busy morning, productive, but busy .. the few moments of solitude, surrounded with natures beauty… was energizing.

Let’s find the joy in everything. Are you looking for things to complain about? Let’s change our perspective and live a cheerful and joyful life.

Thursday Doors

The road was like a ribbon hugging the landscape .. the river on one side and the base of the Laurentians off to the North… It was breathtaking, I often wanted to stop, but due to the narrow old highway, with only the two lanes.. it was impossible, the solid no passing lines were very prominent. When I did dare stop, it was with emergency flashers and a quick scuttle out of the car .. off to the side of the road, and then back in to move out of the way of the endless parade of cars and trucks.

The clear sky held out for me.. the forecast had called for clouds, but Mother Nature was generous with her sunny disposition. Click on the pictures to get a better view of the scenery. =^_^=… The array of fall colour is well on its way… especially when I was well into the Laurentian tourist areas.

Good or Bad it is your mirror. Sincere expressions invite good results, but insincere expressions can lead to unexpected trouble.

looking back

Old pictures found while cleaning up.. My first base guitars. LOL.. you can see had I kept them…they would be vintage now. My Gibson on the right was a real thrill for me when I got it.. I looked for more pictures thought maybe I could find one with my knee high white leather boots… and psychedelic dress. LOL you were spared, no more pictures turned up.

You kidding. I wouldn’t know what to do if I had one now. Same as I no longer drive a stick shift. We change with the times…. I am grateful for all of my life experiences.. In PL we do our best to live in the NOW. Being present in our day to day .. means, we truly get to live each precious moment that comes our way.

No effort is ever wasted. Even if no one witnesses your actions, God is watching you. No matter how small your efforts, your Makoto (sincerity) will always be rewarded.
