a day for reflection

we give thanks this day for our daily “bread”

The plows had not been by, driving was slow, one car had been down the road earlier in the day, closer to one of the main roads there had been perhaps, two, three sets of tracks leading out… but going towards the conservation area, it was only the one set of tracks leading into the woodlands. I wondered who else had make this journey, guess I would know the answer when I arrived at my destination.

This little fellow was just two arm lengths away, he was not concerned with anything but getting at his feed. I stood as still as I could, I wanted the birds to continue to dine. Not one but two blue jays almost landed on me. I was thrilled beyond words to have them so close*. Off to my right I saw the red cardinal patiently waiting to see what I would do, and for the opportunity to swoop in .. the little chicks off course, were flying in and out they are daily visitors to this area…

I have been spoken to about driving out during a snowfall, to an area that is off the main roadways. I truly appreciate and am grateful that there is concern. On the drive, I kept telling myself, I should consider getting special tires for such excursions. Then the other voice, asked how often I planned on doing such activity. =^_^= there is always a voice of reason within our heads..

The quiet solitude of the morning, the happy greeting from the birds, their enjoyment of the seeds, the moment of acceptance of my presence. This for me is so rewarding, so satisfying. I trust in God that my activities will be guided. I believe that one is meant to do what they are called on to do. Sometimes, it means going out of my way, sometimes, it means being very diligent and careful in how I do something. BUT do it I will. Why, because life is to enjoy, to live,

I do not want to put anyone else in danger, or ask that they do what I do.. but when the objective is to be with and in nature.. to enjoy the open space, feel the land around me, it is like a meditation in movement, it is a communication with the Universe

By the time I was ready to leave and head back, I noticed there were two other cars besides mine and the first car in the parking area. =^_^= I am not alone in my search for PEACE and ONENESS with the UNIVERSE.

I wonder if I still have my snowshoes.. must go look, and also.. reminder.. put a small shovel in the trunk of the car.

Happy American Thanksgiving, enjoy your day however you decide to live it. Be SAFE, be Happy .. stay focused.. live with PEACE in your heart.

garden at night

Just when I thought I had all the leaves… I noticed tonight when I let the dogs out.. that “oh NO! more leaves to fall”! How on earth did I not see them the other day… Goes to show me that I am not as observant as I think I am! This little corner got completely missed.

I must admit tho’ that I found the little vignette rather pretty. I even came back into the house to collect my camera.

my first night photos with my new Canon =^_^=

Always there is a positive to be found ! Note to self, bring in my garden “keepers” for the winter. =^_^=

Be thankful to your parents and to your Ancestors. You are here today because the “torch of life” has been continuously passed down. Always remember to be thankful.

lanterns from the garden

Years ago I saw this plant and knew I had to have some in my garden. Now I have a wonderful bed of lanterns, so pleasing to the eye. It was my friend Eartha tho’ who took the initiative to actually get a picture before the frost comes and puts them all to bed for the winter. Thank you Eartha.

We all have good intentions, we all have creative ideas, and we all have at times missed out on our opportunities to follow through. That is why I have such an appreciation for the difference and the uniqueness of my friends. Life is so much richer and fuller when we embrace “new” encounters/situations. I give thanks everyday for my friends, I am so blessed,

New encounters can help you change Be up for anything even if its out of your comfort zone. This is a chance for you to improve yourself as a human being.

We are all facing the challenge this year on how we will celebrate (Hallows Eve) Halloween. A time when many enjoy the crazy silly ways we can welcome the coming season, and say good-bye to the summer. In Canada we already have had Thanksgiving, but our neighbours in the States, are preparing for theirs. Pumpkins, and all the trimmings of that holiday are bountiful in the shops and outlets. Fall is a brilliant season!!

However you decide to spend this week-end.. be safe, be careful and stay well.

when I fly

October is when we can take to the skies
oh yes my pretty day or night

If you look high in the sky, you will see me in flight

Sisters and warlocks, we criss cross the skies,

searching for the pumpkins that have been gathered for displays

Yes mortal beings, we love what you do,

For years now we have watched as the festivities blossom

we no longer celebrate one night a year… No No my lovelies

by the time all Hallows Eve has arrived

you have been celebrating “our world” for weeks on end

we have been rewarded time and time again

as we watch with delight, your shows that showcase menus

that are deliciously frightful and wonderfully ghoulish

ghosts, goblins, skeletons abound

we feast on pumpkin pies, and desserts that are so devilishly sinful

mortals, elves, witches and healers shriek in pleasure all through the night

have a BOOOOtiful day/night… I’m hovering near by

s n o w morning!

Jingle jarring morning greeting – talk about a surprise when I let the dogs out for their early morning outing. I actually did a double take. It really was white snow, my first for this season.
Reminder to self.. patio chairs, table and umbrella need to be taken down later. Need to do a list of things that I need to do today. Is this how your day starts, being a morning person, for me it is the “busy” time of day.

I know not everyone marches to the same “drum”… for many friends, it is mid day before they want their “inner secretary/organizer” to kick in.

Put your whole heart into everything and express your individuality. When you put your whole heart into expressing yourself, your true beauty will shine through.

Sunday shadows

Reality check…these days it is easy to be overwhelmed, by workload, political issues, every day there is more dissatisfaction being expressed, we are constantly being bombarded by “negativity/or challenging” input.

Time to step back, find a quiet place and allow your reality to be with God. Close your eyes, and feel waves of divine assurance flow over you, rest and relax in the comforting presence of God.

God’s spirit within you is healing and renewing.

PL Precept. # 11 Always be with God.

treasures

Good Morning! It is after seven and it is dark outside. Groan. The shorter days have arrived. My internal clock still wants to wake up and get up and going much earlier. Thankfully my sleeping buddies are content to snuggle down and stay where it is nice and warm.

This picture is out of focus. I’m still getting used to my new camera… but what I was trying for.. you can see, are the drops.

will work on the macro -^_^=

The Virgo in me .. said… “you can’t use that, its out of focus” but the “lunar” part of me.. said “go for it” its the precious water droplets you want to show.. do it!” =^_^= the day was bright, the temperature was getting warmer, et voila… water droplets on some of the berries. The moment was perfect.. lol my shot wasn’t.

Lesson. Just because you want to do something, doesn’t mean you get to do it, or that if you do, it will come out the way you would like it to. That said, I had fun trying out my new camera, enjoyed the sun on my face, the slight breeze that rustled the leaves… AND… bonus, all kinds of birds, singing and dancing overhead as they explored from one branch to another.

I also met a fellow walker and her dog Scout. She also told me of the activities of the coyotes in the woods. A reminder that if there with the dogs, I will have to be vigilant and watchful.

A cheerful smile and expression makes everyone around you happy. When you do everything with a smile, not only you but the people around you will feel good. Always remember to put on a happy face.

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. Say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the points of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.

Catch and release

The joy of fishing, is not only the communication that happens between man and the treasured catch, it is the preparation for the day’s outing, the planning, the location, the endless time spent adrift on the water… and the time spent in the outdoors (Nature)

My son prefers to fish with his kayak, Dan the young man in these pictures is a Musky guide, he and his brother Emmanuel (Manny) have logged many hours on the water, it is their passion and in their blood. Remember yesterday in PL we held special ceremony thanking and being grateful for the gifts passed down from our ancestors, and other wisdoms we’ve learned from our “elders”

Dan had just posted one of the above pictures, he has a natural love of the outdoors. He grew up with the outdoors being very much a part of his “learning experience”.. Having spent time on a reserve in the summer with grandparents and extended family, his love and respect for the natural environment shines through now in his adult years. Both he and Manny are licensed guides, and as you can see from the pictures, year after year, put smiles on peoples faces by introducing them to the world of the Musky.

Fishing is about patience, and an ability to be in the present, to live and totally be at peace with your surroundings…. I know my son when he catches that worthy opponent ( fish) that gave him a good “fight”\, he thanks the fish for joining him, then gently releases him/her back into their environment.

There is so much that happens in the world around us, sometimes we forget that it (the world) is not all “greed” “corruption” and self centered, narcissistic and self indulgent “people/news” While there is a lot of negativity in the world, there is also a lot of POSITIVE, LOVING and, HEALING, ENERGY …. it is up to us as individuals to seek out the path that will lead to WORLD PEACE.

Each and everyone of us, has the power within US, to be good, to do good. We are not born with a natural desire to inflict pain, and be disruptive, we are born free of prejudice and bias.

On my bucket list, is to spend quality time drifting along a shoreline on a quiet day, with clear skies and an uninhabited countryside (of people) where only the sounds of Nature abound.

Diamonds, emeralds, rubies, they are not treasures to me, they are minerals taken from the ground and repurposed by man… they may sparkle and glitter, but they are cold. but I digress….. it is a beautiful day… open the door and welcome the brisk autumn day. If you are able to enjoy the fall colour of the hardwood trees, enjoy… soon… it will be a whole new season.

Live with gratitude in your heart. Spend as much time in and around Nature as you can. It is revitalizing.
