Small changes can bring about a fresh outlook. Are you just living each day and getting into a rut? By making small changes in the things you do, your day to day life can become fresh and exciting

Today being a Friday and the 13th. it has the promise of being a grand day. The temperature is rising, yes there is snow, but it is not freezing cold out there, it is nice. If you can’t get out, find something to do that you’ve been putting off. I know I am not alone.. there are a lot of other people out there who thrive on enjoying the 13th when it rolls around and on a Friday!
What was will be again, never the same as it was, but it will BE.
When I arrived today, I was alone … there were no other cars parked along the road.. As I walked through the entry it seems so eerie, no ducks, birds, wild turkeys, not even a squirrel. There was a path, others had been by recently… I saw that animals had been walking along the shoreline… I pondered my situation, how often would I have Mud Lake to myself. I realized not often… this was a fluke. I wandered off the path to the water’s edge.. yup, it looked solid enough, there were tracks (animal/fowl). I stepped gingerly unto the frozen surface, and then slowly started to make my way towards the other end of the lake.
I took my time savoring the silence and the landscape. During any other season, this would be teeming with wildlife, and the water would be a deterrent … there would be no seeing the shoreline from this side of the lake. It was wonderful. The sky was cloudy, not the greatest for good pictures, especially with my new Pixel 7 that I still don’t know how to use properly yet. I said a small prayer of thanks, I was filled with a gratitude that was very soothing/comforting. It was so strange to be at Mud lake and not hear a cacophony of bird/duck sounds. I realized that I likey have never been there in the winter before.
Maybe about 15, 20 minutes into my “adventure” I heard footsteps and the sound of a walking pole hitting the ground as the walker made his way along the trail on the other side of where I was. We didn’t speak, I don’t even know if he realized that I was there. I had never before been on the lake, nor had I ever seen some of the shoreline I was seeing.. when walking on the trail, there are times the trail is a good distance from the shorelines… and the landscape/terrain between the trail and the shoreline is littered with fallen trees, thick shrubs and dense vegetation and rock.
I made my way to the “lookout” I think I’ve only ever been on it a couple of times .. certainly has a different feeling/air to it when you come at it from the water’s edge. It was here that I got off the frozen lake and found my way to the trail. On my way back towards the car I came across the lone walker who told me he was trying to find the wild turkeys, He hadn’t seen them since the holidays.. No sign of them at all, not even their tracks.
The only other people I met were a couple who were there to see if they could see/hear any birds. It had been strangely quiet. not even the chickadees made an appearance, it really was truly as one friend said “haunting” . I think I encountered maybe 3 squirrels on my way back to the car… big black ones.
Walking on water was a good meditation for me. It was time I needed to reflect and allow the world to wrap the solitude of nature around me, and to let me hear the natural silence of the day.
Enjoy what happens. People who can enjoy anything happening to them receive wisdom for the next step. Try to work on things without being over concerned.
Be careful not to lean towards only what you like. Live a life of balance; don’t just do things you like to do, or are good at, or already know how to do.

FELIZ ANO NOVO! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
WORLD PEACE STARTS FROM PEACE AT HOME. Your life is part of the bigger world beyond you. Start with your surroundings and spread peace to the world around you.
I’m tucked away in my hidden retreat… listening to the rain falling, the steady rhythm of the drops as they cut through the deep piles of snow in the yard… when I opened the door to let the dogs out, the rain was falling in sheets.. it was a sight to see against the piles off winter snow that since yesterday have lost about half of their height because it has been mild.. and of course the rain is not being kind to the snow that fell over the past couple of weeks.
This location (above) is not known to many, those of us who frequent this little hide-a-way… tend to keep it a secret. Hmmm wonder why! True with all the snow we had, it won’t look like this now, if we trekked in to visit the ambience would still be magical, but very different.
Like… here we are saying goodbye to another year, by this time tomorrow it will be 2023. Let’s move forward with a positive attitude. We have so much to discover and enjoy before we have to “slow down”.
Have a prayerful mid to love yourself and others. Open up your heart fully when praying to God. It will help you sort out your feelings.

There was a hush in the Grosbeak melodies
Even they, were silenced as we watched the scene unfold.
Experience the joy of change. It is truly amazing when you look back at yourself this year compared to last year, or today, compared to yesterday and realize how much you have improved and changed.

Let’s have a humble mind. Once you think, “that’s good enough,” you become blind to the opportunities to be more creative. Perfect Liberty 2022.30
I think this last one is a good thought for me to meditate on today…. have I become blind to opportunities? Some times I get so focused on what I want to do… I miss new possibilities.
The whole world is covered in a wonderful / serene blanket of silence when there has been a long period of snow falling. These days .. I often find myself alone with the wildlife that has come to dine in the early morning light. Louise Hay (author) wrote ” our hearts lovingly pump joy throughout our bodies. When we deny ourselves joy and love, the heart shrivels and becomes cold.”
We get so caught up at times in the soap operas and dramas created around us, we forget to notice the little heart, and the joys around us. The simplicity of BEing ONE with nature is an awesome gift, one gives one’s Self.
Praying before taking action changes the outcome. Have clear wishes and do your best. Then something new will open up for you.
For days now all we have heard on the radio/television is that there is a bad storm approaching and causing havoc in the States and parts of western Canada.. It is here, it arrived in the wee hours, I heard it tapping on the bedroom window.. I saw it when I let the dogs out at 2 something this a.m. The backyard was dressed in its all white finery, the dogs had to high step it out into the yard.( They are whippets they have long legs! )
I know this will get a raised eyebrow from some… but… I will not attempt to go out this morning. I could easily get in the car and back it out of the garage ..making a trail over the fresh fallen snow no traffic has been by, there is no mountain of snow at the end of the laneway. BUT.. I will stay put. Yesterday I filled the feeders and put out extra fat/suet, with the freezing rain/snow, I hope the birds stay tucked into their “nests” till there is a break in the weather.
It is only 6 a.m. I’ll wait and see what the rest of the day will be like…. if there is a break in the precipitation.. who knows… something to look forward to… =^_^=
When you get stuck take a step back. When you are able to see things objectively, your viewpoint will change and you will receive new wisdom.

Seeing the woodpecker I’m rethinking my plans for the day… I do have new snow tires on the car, and a full tank of gas. hmmm?
oh.. I should mention, a roofer has been found who will come over next week – thank you for all your positive prayers and thoughts/input.
Someone wrote on his/her profile they preferred to take the roads less traveled. This morning as I took my time driving to the feeders, I revelled in the serenity of the road I was on. There is something to be said about going somewhere early in the day, before many are out and about (it was after all a Saturday )
I wonder who is happier . me when I see the birds waiting for me to clear the snow and open my trunk to access the seed/suet, or the birds. They sing and begin to fly to the feeders, some come directly to me and land on my scoop with the feed, no longer shy they just dive in and fly away with their prize.
Help the people around you smile more. Always strive to make those around you smile. That will bring you joy too.
Seeing my babies tuck into the suet is all the thanks I need… the snow was falling so steadily and hard, everything was blanketed in snow. At Mer Bleue the city plow had been by to do the parking lots, but the driver although he has to drive from one parking lot to the other… lifts his blade, he does not do the roadway. I did make it to the second parking lot… where to my surprise the NCC contractor* was there shovelling a path to the outhouses. WOW… dedication for sure. I got there it was shortly after 7 a.m.
The birds were so happy to see me, they were hovering over me waiting for the scoop to appear with the seed. LOL then I had a chickadee escort service tailing me to the feeder I was heading to fill. Even the grosbeaks were nattering at me to hurry up. No sooner was the feeder cleared and seed put in, there was a gathering of evening grosbeaks all around the feeder showing great appreciation for the feed.
Linda* helped out.. we walked back and forth tramping down the snow before putting out the still in the shell peanuts for the blue jays. They were patient but did vocalize from time to time if they thought we were being a tad to slow. Of course they could have been scolding Linda who sneaks a peanut or two when she thinks no one will notice… believe me the blue jays have sharp eyes.
At P23 (Dewberry) it was very quiet, the lot had been cleared, but the drive to the location was dicey at best. I was joined there shortly after my arrival by wildlife and nature photographer Dan Cadieux.. . https://www.dancadphotography.com/blog/ who like me… revels in the quiet of the early morning in the woods… he was already snapping pictures seconds on arriving.. the birds were busy chowing down on their morning breakfast. Can’t wait to see what he will post on Instagram… https://www.instagram.com/dancadphotography/
Whatever you decide to do with your day… enjoy … be safe…
If you are going to do it, give it your best. Your actions will be dulled if you worry too much about the outcome. Once you decide on a course of action, don’t hesitate to complete your task.
This fell in a very short period of time. The forecast is it will continue to fall all day in huge amounts. They are calling it a mammoth storm. Temperatures are around 30 degrees F. and are aging to stay in that range for the day. I am considering my options… Appointment for winter snow tires is next week.
Have a joyful day by being a little more creative. you will enjoy your day more by adding a little creativity to your daily activities.
