snow- start to the week

ohno-part-2e_010

Getting around wasn’t easy for some today, the snow started last night, and kept falling well into the day.  City crews did their best to ensure that the main  highways were cleared, but it was made clear, side streets would not be cleared till after the afternoon drive home rush hours.

On the six o’clock news they showed one enterprising young man, Xross-country skiing into work.  I recall one year when I snow- shoed in =^_^=  I didn’t have to go out today, but I wanted to take advantage of the weather and attend a sale, that is usually impossible to get close to, especially if you want to park your vehicle, in my case, a big truck.

I was right, traffic was light, it was mid morning, and I had plenty of room to park. My day went very well, I found some great “deals” and enjoyed being out in the brisk snow filled air. Sure one had to drive slowly and with care, but we should be doing that at all time anyway.   I was able to get some shopping in without a lot of fuss, and get home at a decent hour.

The PL philosophy is that if you start your day with a positive attitude, and a sincere appreciation for the weather and the world around you, your chances of having a full and productive day are very good.

PL Precept #15  all is a mirror

PL Principle # 2  I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather.  Rather I will always be creative and will for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions.

PL Principle # 3   I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

oh no!

snow-dec-7_003Oh NO! the snowman exclaimed

I’ve lost my head again

As onlookers turned away

and shoppers kept rushing by

All he could do was  gasp and horror

as he saw his nose fall to the ground

snow-dec-7_002all around as the day wore on

people came and went on their way

not once did anyone notice

that the little snowman

was having a difficult day

the fresh snow on the ground

made the parks so merry and gay

snow-dec-7_004there was a shop down the lane

that if only someone would stop

he could tell them the way to find his friends

he knew his friends would come

help him put his head on again snow-dec-7_001with  a sigh of relief,

he saw his friends coming his way

oh joy, oh happy day!

you’ve come just in time

somehow my head fell off

and I’ve been at a total loss

I closed my eyes, and wished and prayed

and now….!!!! joy oh joy…!!!

ohno-part-2e_002

I can stand tall and proud again

his nose and smile back in place

he was ready to smile out at the world again.

ohno-part-2e_003

Life can get very busy, especially at this time of year.  We rush from one chore to another, our mind always on the task at hand.  While this is good, being efficient is always a positive, however, take time this year, to make time for your inner self, and for the friends around you who may not have the same holiday cheer you are enjoying.

Often someone really very close by or near to you can be  having a difficult time.  We fail to hear the silent plea not because we don’t care, but because in our “busy” mode, we don’t hear the world around us, we are running on remote control.

PL Precept #7  Everything exists in Relativity

PL Principle # 4  I will live with the spirit of Misasage (Devotion) working for the happiness of others.

PL Precept # 11    Always be with God

shades of white

white-banksia-rose-flowers-1s white against a back ground of green

what a lovely picture you’ll see

the fragrance of a flower in bloom

will  touch your senses

with a magical sensory tune

cloud-and-sky

white against a sky of blue

a sigh will escape your lips

as you dream of a place

under tropical skies and

lazy sun drenched afternoons

yet white against a sky of gray

can make for a very dull day

the white is still white

but we see it in a totally different way

think about it

how many times

have you looked at someone in a different way

only because

their background

coloured your way of seeing them

my sister painted me a hobbit house

sometimes, I think

yeah, this is where I want to stay

lost in a meadow of sheep

where I can while away the day

and at night, turn in for

a fitful sleep.

everyone needs a place to stay

when they need time

away

from a world that can in disarray

The art of “Storytelling”

vintage xmas 2

I am a writer of stories,  but the art of telling the story, that is an art all on its own.  Last night I gave myself a gift, I took myself off to a magical place,  for an hour plus, I was transported to another world, and another time. The voice of the talented story teller from his virtual platform, took the audience to  Lapland where a boy named Nikolas was orphaned, and how the villagers came together to look after the young boy. Last night was  part 1 of Christmas Story (Joulutarina)

On the Seanchai libraries website,  they explain…  Seanchai (“Storyteller” in Irish) Library celebrates the Celtic tradition of stories told around the hearth or in the pub to friends, family, and welcomed strangers. Seanchai Libraries bring stories of all kinds to life, in Virtual Worlds: Second Life, InWorldz, & Kitely on the Open Metaverse.   www.seanchailibrary.com

The story teller last night was Shandon Loring.

santa-past

Do you have a picture in mind, of what Santa looks like, did you wonder which of the folk stories are  “true”   How did all this Santa Claus “stuff” all come about…. ?

Story telling is an “art” .. my time spent listening to Shandon last night, has me wanting to know more about the story he began telling us last night.

If you are interested, join us for his next reading. Next Thursday evening 7 pm. pacific time.

so much innocence

the emotion just happens

as we mature

somewhere, some how

we find ways

to hide or not show

how we truly feel

and in time

we ourselves forget

that the facade

is really just that

an outer face

and not what

we are feeling

at all

tag, your turn

rensei-2016-h

Life is happily moving along, life is very good, there appears to be chaos around you, but in your little world, each day is a brand new, happy day.

And then, and then, surprise, the magic wand comes around and a little tap, tap tap, and darn, something changes.

computer-imagejayeshprofitfromprices.com (PC search – computer cartoons)

You get a new computer, because your old, true blue friend, simply refuses to budge, you shut down one night, and it simply refused to wake up. Yes, the new one is top of the line able to do all that you want it to do.  However, it is not warm and fuzzy, it doesn’t remember your last dinner for two, it has not shared any real “moments” with you.  It is a cold black, metal box.

Nothing is where it used to be, and every time you turn it on. you just know you will discover another learning curve.  Sigh.  I know, these opportunities are sent to keep our gray matter from getting sluggish.  To keep us eager for more knowledge, encourage our creativity.

Great way to start the day, how is your day going?  Change is good, mantra for the day, change is good, change is good..

Smiles and waves, good morning, it is the start of a Friday, I’m told there are black Friday sales going on everywhere.  Even here in Canada.  time to take a break and go out to play.

I know my new friend here on my desk will be waiting for me when I return.

I eat because

p1000543

This house has two doors.  Obviously at one time the upstairs door, either had a balcony, BUT maybe not.  We have come across a lot of places with a secondary door, that at one time was going to be another exit, or a door to a small balcony, when asked, the agent would say, it just never got done.

In newer buildings I have seen doors that open to let in a view, but there is a guard railing (decorative and for security reasons) that bars exit.

I eat because I am hungry.  I eat because I am diabetic and need to eat at regular intervals, I eat because as a diabetic, there are times, I need to adjust my sugar levels, that are perhaps giving or adding to my headache, or malaise

Notice, at no time above did I say I eat because I like to eat.  Sure I enjoy a nice meal from time to time .. especially at a restaurant with a friend while we catch up.  Neither hubby or I are foodies, I realized the other day, neither one of us wills say, let’s go out .. we will and have done it, but it is not on our wish list of things to do.

We each have our likes and preferences on what we like to eat, and how we like it cooked. But, truly it is more of a..” ok have to eat, so let me see what is here…”

Pl Precept # 7  Everything exists in Relativity

One of my important lessons – regarding food. portion control.  ..not what I eat, it is how much I eat.. I can do with a lot less.. and not having to eat out, helps a lot with maintaining smaller portions,

for me, the perfect breakfast. small portion steamed rice, poached egg, and  Japanese or Chinese pickles,   dessert (mid morning taste)  iced coffee, with of ice, black, no sugar, no cream, if anything extra water.

What a great way to start the day.. How about you, how is your day going?

Snow what a  blessing

from above, crystals

with prisms that catch the light

an art form,

that can  dazzle and delight

it is true, we can’t fall asleep

in plain sight,

enjoying the sun the same way

we can in summer

oh, but other delights await us

and the winter fun can begin

the slops are being groomed

snowshoes  are being readied

I can smell the baking pies

and anticipate the wonder

in the children’s eyes

the    happy smiles

when they fly down a hill

all bundled up, on their first toboggan ride

oh dear.. there is always

an old bear, who wants us to know

winter or not

he will have his time in the sun

truth be told

he is right of course,

no matter the season

there is never a  good reason

When the Lakota leader Sitting Bull was asked by a white reporter why his people loved and respected him, Sitting Bull replied by asking if it was not true that among white people a man is respected because he has many horses, many houses? When the reporter replied that was indeed true, Sitting Bull then said that his people respected him because he kept nothing for himself.” –Joseph Bruchac – Photograph: Orlando Scott GoffGoodSitting Bull, Lakota leader

Good morning everyone, I found this in my research today.  It was posted 4 years ago on the Parabola (The Search for Meaning) site on tumblr.

How well said, and so simply .. it brings us back once more to the individuality of each of us, and how our cultures shape our thinking.

However that said, we are not back living in a time when the differences were not known, researched, studied, and documented.  This is 2016 an electronic age, we can sit in our homes and watch documented reports of what is going on around us.  There are thousands of published reports, books, magazines, videos and spoken story books.  There is no reason for us to not know about our neighbours.

“Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison.
Because of this, we had no delinquents.
Without a prison, there can be no delinquents.
We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves.
When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift.
We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property.
We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth.
We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another.
We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.”

Just some food for thought to go along with your coffee.  I find it extremely interesting and thought provoking that no matter who we are, or what our backgrounds are, we ALL strive for peace  and want it in our lives.

being thankful

easter IslandI remember being totally fascinated and captivated by the story of Easter Island.  I was lost in the mystery of it all.  I dreamed of travelling there to see the giants for myself.  I never did, instead as i made my way in life, I found that my life itself was full of mysteries , my own wonders at the complexities in life, How I could love so much and enjoy so much yet seem to always be “odd person out”

Even when I hurt, or feeling sad and down, they were feelings that I seemed to revel in, I basked in the emotions that engulfed me and  examined how they made me feel and  how I got there. They were lessons,  I went through the heartbreak of wanting so much for someone to care, and not recognizing that a relationship is based on BOTH parties being of the same mind.

It takes living the experience to learn the value of the lesson taught.  I have been blessed with many lessons in life. Each lesson has made me a much stronger and independent woman.  It is in paying attention to each and every moment of our lives that we grow, that we blossom, unfold and mature into the person we become.  In a lifetime, we continue to experience the many changes and lessons until it is time for us to quietly transition to another state of BEING.

Great pyramid of Giza, Egypt

When we truly appreciate all that we have lived, and what IS, Then and only then will we find true happiness.  Give thanks every day for the wonders in life that have blessed you during your lifetime.  To every negative there is a positive. Kindness and love for another are gifts to be treasured.  I give thanks for each and everyone of you, you are so very appreciated.
