Friday

Yesterday you saw some of the buildings that caught my eye on the way to Ompah. Here you are seeing some of land I hiked along. To get to the water, I had to go down a steep ravine to a level area .. where I was looking down at the water… it was so inviting that when I came to a wooden set of steps, I ventured down to the water’s edge.

Lesson I learned… If you go down, you have to come back up! Focused on getting pictures, I had not taken into account to get to where I was I had walked down a steep incline, I found the steps while I was walking the grounds searching for another path leading back up to the area where my friend waited in the car. !!

Look at the rocks, the beautiful old fence, weathered and worn but still standing Yes I likely overdid, I didn’t have my walking sticks with me and because the area hosted art shows in the summer weather, the land was cleared of fallen branches and the like. BUT it was gorgeous .. life was good, life was vibrant, the air clear, getting colder yes (we were heading for an evening of snow and dropping temperatures) I WAS HAPPY, JOYFUL AND FULL OF LOVE… fresh air, the silence of open country (no city sounds) Yes, my body had a lot to say about the walking/hiking and the constant in and out of the car… BUT it was worth it. I think we have all had such experiences. If we are going to be here (on earth) we should appreciate and enjoy as much as we can. Peace on earth, begins at home and in our hearts.

Enjoy what happens. People who can enjoy anything happening to them receive wisdom for the next step. Try to work on things without being overly concerned.

Ancestors’ Day Ceremony/service at 10:a.m. Nov 11. Saturday.

Thursday

I had good intentions. I wanted to visit Ompah, I visited Ompah.. the first picture you see upper left is the parking area, of the common community park setting in Ompah. The drive to Ompah is spectacular rugged and in places breathtaking with its outcrop of rocks and deciduous trees ..

My frustration this morning is that many of the pictures I took for some reason didn’t transfer to my PC, which means, for now. these are the captures you will see. The small towns all had such interesting old buildings/structures and of course churches. The day started out with clear blue skies, but as the day progressed the sky got cold, and you felt the chill creeping in to your bones. (we had snow overnight)

Just outside Sharbot Lake on the main hwy going through, is this food stand, we think it was called Frenchies. Dynamite fries, cut there .. red potatoes… it was worth the wait.. the hamburger was good too, fresh meat patty, on a decent bun. If you can say road stand food is delicious, this meal was super delicious. I ate all of mine to the last crumb. and the fries.. I didn’t need vinegar or salt, they were so good just the way they were served.

Today’s calendar..

confession

Same area, just weeks apart, drum roll, It is dark in the mornings when I get up, very dark, yesterday when I left it was too dark, today I’ll wait a bit before leaving. I got to the feeders and no one was there to greet me. The sleepy heads heard me and slowly began to arrive, but they were not their chatty selves, there was a lot of grumbling (Ok I might embellish a bit) But they were not their busy busy selves. Bless the little chickadees they were present and greeted me through the grayness of the morning.

Now.. listen up. I have never been a wonton soup fan. In fact I don’t recall ever ordering it in a restaurant. EVER. in Costco the other day, I was getting my shrimp Sui Mi dumplings, and a lady and her friend came to the area and began taking out the wonton soup packages that were displayed beside my Sui Mi. The lady couldn’t say enough about the soup and she and her friend took several boxes. I smiled took my purchase and left. However… the conversation stayed with me.. she had been very enthusiastic. and I love shrimp dumplings. (this wonton soup is filled with shrimp dumplings).

I confess to being at a time in my life where I am not overly keen on making dumplings anymore, or cooking anymore than I have to….. so.. when I went for my top of shrimp dumplings the other day, I took a box of the wonton soup. (6 individual servings per box). I have now gone back and purchased more TWICE because I am having a bowl of wonton soup for breakfast, at lunch and maybe even as a snack later, AND … I bought a box yesterday and already I’ve gone through half of it. Thankfully, I am hoping that this phase will pass. When my husband was still alive, at this time of year he liked the Costco French onion soup .. I never bothered, as I said I was not a soup person. I let him have all the portions. Well…I bought a box of the French onion soup yesterday too. AND its pretty good…….

lingering

When yesterday lingers into today.

Sometimes the remains are a reminder of what was, other times, a building has been lovingly restored. But.. often all we see is a building that has been left on its own to fade into a lonely abandoned state of disrepair, with nothing to do but wait till the environment erases all of what it was. Could the lumber be reused, I often wonder why buildings are simply left abandoned,,, of course I’ve never had an answer to this question, yes possibilities .. owner died, people move away, etc. just seems a waste.

I’m drawn to the aura of mystery that usually shrouds a vacant abandoned building, Today being Thursday, I like to participate in the Thursday Door Challenge that is featured on Dan’s site, No Facilities… https://nofacilities.com/2023/11/02/ellington-turn-around/ to this end, one of my favourite pastimes is to travel backroads and explore. Yesterday my fellow explorer (Bonnie) and I headed out towards Ompah, a little community off the beaten track (away from the main roads)…. I was driving and we passed many many interesting “picture moments” … … what I’ve learned from this journey was that when I’m driving … no pictures get taken.. I’m looking ahead and only catch glimpses of “oh” and “oh wow” moments.. so I will have to go again… with the focus being on pictures and not the destination.

And before I forget… there will be no PL English calendar this year, Japan has decided that it is too difficult to get a translation of their “thought of the day” into English for the coming 2024 year. I will still be doing the post and providing you with a quote for the day, but it will not be from the PL 2024 calendar. Nor will I be sending out 2024 calendars. Sorry … For members in Brazil, South American, and Japan .. there will be calendars in Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese, These calendars will be available to members/churches in North American and Europe.

today

Girls wanna have fun. Remember when we played dress up.. what movies do you watch, what captures your imagination.. Today everyone has license to dress up and have fun, its Halloween. People add colour and fun to their appearance to go to work, wear costumes representing a popular game character, or super hero, there have been parties going on all weekend. You got a costume in mind?

Mother Nature had her own bit of fun, she gave us a sprinkling of snow.

BOO fun

Altho’ the actual date set aside for Halloween is the 31st. I hear on the radio that the parties and gatherings will happen this week-end, If they are not already started, they will be in full swing over the next couple of days. We’ve had rain of late, the beautiful colours that sprang out all around to greet us weeks ago, have faded and many have fallen to the ground from being pelted by the rain.

I spent many happy hours exploring all the creativity that is in SL (Second Life).. entering into the magical world of the many seasonal destinations that the fertile minds the artists in SL have created for the viewer’s enjoyment. The SL pictures above were taken at Pacifique ..http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pacifique/50/173/3748 the owner and artistic director of these amazing builds is Eclair Martinek.. if you are a player/citizen of Second Life, this is the link that will take you to this delightful build.. If you are a photographer , she has given us many photo opportunities, If you just like to play and have fun, explore .. there are caves, tunnels, scuba diving, a mermaid ballroom, hot air balloons.. and the list goes on.

We are not all going to go out Trick or Treating, but we can treat ourselves to the many offerings that abound at this time of year, Life is to be enjoyed….

Develop new ideas through your imagination, Softly and Flexibly. If you could find a way to add a twist you will have more joy.”

Makoto

It has been raining these past few mornings, still the little ones come for breakfast, Photographer Jim Robertson was out the other morning, and captured these two regulars. (https://adobe.ly/3QB6AOc ) It never fails to amaze me how sweet and friendly the little critters are. The Chipmunks can be hard to see as they gather up the corn, nuts, seeds amongst the leaves. The nuthatch can be bold… but usually behaves when strangers come by,

Put Makoto even into small things, Don’t let things go with “oh well” you will have a different outcome if you put Makoto (sincerity) in all you do.

Oct fun

Sometimes we have to go into the night and dance .. ” no one is watching” and if they are, who cares!… Let the moment happen, enjoy the freedom of movement and space.

Yesterday I finally got to have my BD lunch with my niece and nephew. It was the last day of the Moon Festival offerings at our favourite buffet. 3/4 of this plate is filled with shrimps cooked in different ways, the green beans you can see, I got a couple of slices of ginger beef, and same with the salt and pepper pork. The only noodle is the decoration you see on top, Notice I did take a piece of corn on the cob that sits in a lovely butter sauce in the heating trays.

I know. Last bd meal for this year!!!
