let’s share

A friend baked these in 2020.. I just look at the picture and my mouth waters. I kept the picture because seeing the bread never fails to give me a moment of quiet reflection. The smell of freshly baked bread is such a warm delicious comfort… Might have to stop for a toasted bagel on my way out… yes, good idea..

I listened to a podcast last night, about today’s food, what we purchase at the “store” .. how food has changed since before every home had a refrigerator. When we ate freshly grown vegetables and what was in season. My friend that baked the bread.. is always making something from veggies she has grown in her small garden patch or acquired from market that day. I admire that .. yet… it is just not something I do.

We are all unique and different in how we “live” that is what makes the world such an interesting place … I learned from her about how olive oils are not all the same, and one day at breakfast … she brought out a bottle of oil made at their home in Greece, from olives grown on their land, and bottled there. What a treat!

I am very grateful that I have been blessed with a number of diverse friendships… learning about different ways to enjoy life is “priceless”… Friendships are one of life’s most precious gifts.

A thankful heart leads to happiness. When we really pay attention we are surrounded by many things we can be thankful for, the society we live in, the kindness shown to us by others. You will be able to find true happiness when you can see and appreciate these things,

Merry?

This is grosbeak telling me to “get with it” I was late getting to the feeders and this bird had something to say about it. We had a lot of grosbeaks that year, (this was a couple of years back 2021) I miss the little beggars.. they were so vocal. However .. I would love to have them land in my patch again,… they were always so interesting to watch and listen to,

These days, the airwaves are filled with grumbling.. my goodness… I remember when the media brought joy and warm wonderful stories and put on entertaining shows for our viewing pleasure. All that is gone.. oh there are a lot of choices out there, but its all so “canned” and sorry “phony

I know “… there are movies out there that come around each season, same story line, different actors, backdrops are different but the same theme… boy meets girl, or girl meets boy whatever.. and you always know the ending.

Oh dear oh dear… I think I need to go find a cup of coffee. how are you dear reader, are you enjoying this “merry” month of December. Here the big worry is that it won’t be cold enough this winter for our canal to freeze for skating. Of course if it was cold and we had tons of snow, the complaint would be we can’t get around and it is soooo cold, how can we ski and skate comfortably.

I know I’m going to make myself a toasted ham sandwich on WHITE soft fresh bread with wilting lettuce . I’ll use hot mustard to make it all come together. Yum.

Even if you have done it many times before put your full heart into it, When we are doing something, especially if it is a small or easy task, we tend to get sloppy. Let’s put our whole heart into everything we do, even if its something as simple as pushing a button,

and I skipped using butter on the toast. =^_^=

blessings

I have been reminded lately of how with the passing of the seasons, there is also a change in our daily lives. Some are slow and gradual, while others come up suddenly and take us by surprise. Either way, they are happenings that we cannot divert from our lives. Challenges, opportunities, they come in all shapes and sizes.

This month there have been many beautiful, loved souls who have passed on from this world we live in to an eternal existence that leaves us with cherished memories of what was. I would ask today that we take a moment in quiet prayer. Let’s give thanks that we were so blessed in having been able to know/learn/grow from our connection to these beautiful souls.

In your prayer please include all the members in our community (near and far) and around us who are dealing with issues beyond their control, help ease someone’s pain. take time today to listen with an open heart, make time to reach out and call someone who lives alone or could be in “need” of a “friend”,

Begin each day with a renewed sense of appreciation. Always remember that you are here today thanks to God, and thanks to the many people around you. Let’s make each day meaningful by starting out with a feeling of gratitude.

Roses in Dec.

From my sister’s garden yesterday, Nice to see at this time of year, weather must be good where she is. I could send her a few pictures of the cold wet tree limbs and snow covered paths, hmm maybe I’ll wait for a sunny day. or a picture of the little scarf and hoodie I’m knitting for the black squirrel… nah will save that for when she sends me the beautiful photos of the hand stitched quilt she is putting together. =^_^=

Take a moment today for “silence”…the “rush” of the season, the constant bombardment of “noise” from all directions, good/bad… constant energy whirling through your personal “sphere” … … … ahhhhh take that deep breath… smile as you close your eyes and drink in a moment of “pure YOU”.. just for a second, close your eyes.. take a deep breath.. hold it… then smiling… slowly let it out… ahhhhh…. all done… smiles at you.. didn’t hurt now did it. You just had mini break. Still smiling… pass it on.

Worn, weathered, aging beautifully, still holding up and ready to welcome …wonder what the sound of the knocker is like. Funny I don’t recall taking this picture.. someone sent it to me? Thank you, I love it.

landscapes

How quickly things can change, with the rain and mild evening we had, I wonder what the scene will be when I arrive this morning. From -14 temperatures the other day, to in the 40’s today. The above pictures I took yesterday morning. The sugar coated trees and forest floor were magical.

Enjoy what happens. People who can enjoy anything happening to them receive wisdom for the next step. Try to work on things without being overly concerned.

the Bog

I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of the beauty that Nature provides us with in any season. Today there were many pictures of cardinals and blue jays against the snowy background that is now our backdrop till sometime in early next year. Local birders and nature photographers have been enjoying the flash of colour against the fresh fallen snow …

Seasons come and go, but always, you will be in the NOW. Make each moment count, enjoy today .. it won’t happen again.

Give importance to listening, looking, thinking, doing and speaking. Look and listen carefully before making a judgement. Assumptions and hasty conclusions can lead to misunderstanding.
