Wisdom is a divine endowment – not a human acquisition

Happiness is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to deal with it

Found this quote in one of my profiles.  I for some reason, did not note where I got it from, but the words aren’t mine, however, at the time, I must have connected with the sentiment.

There are days when I feel like “ I am” on a stage … that I am rehearsing or going through a chapter that is “in progress”.   For sure, what I am living is my personal experience.  Today while in meditation, I revisited, or tried to, my interpretation of an event that is yet to happen.  Then the spotlight shone down on me, and I knew I had to be in the present.  To succeed I have to be present.

Every frame of the “scenes”  being lived, needed my focus on the present if I was to even “live” to experience the pending “event”

Ah life, it is a beautiful exhilarating happening, isn’t it.

Enjoy the first day of a new month.

Happy Canada day everyone!June 15_005

intertwined

montfort

That day we walked back to the car, after being told that we had an aggressive cancer in our lives. I remember looking into the darkness of the floor of the wooded area, near where our truck was parked.

For some reason, this  patch of land was a place that I revisited often over the months that followed.  No, not physically, but in my mind’s eye.  I didn’t see flowers if they were blooming, it was the greenery, the trees, the open spaces between  them.

1.30.17 towards Osgoode

The shadows that danced across the snow-covered floor between the trees, always I saw how nature blended and intermingled.  I didn’t know it at the time, but I feel it now.  As time passes, I miss my husband’s physical presence more and more, I feel him and hear his words in the strangest of places, or in the  landscapes I see that I pass along the way to “wherever”.

hogs back 4.10.18

The memory of our “togetherness” is intertwined with the nature that I see all around me.  Like the seasons, and the changing skies.  We are no longer as we were, but always, we will BE…  Unconditional love, is happiness, tears, joy and sorrow.  What a blessing to have been granted the experience of a love that while of this earth,  blossomed into forever.

cheating, really?

avocado toast b 5.31.18Good morning everyone…

Remember my discovery of Avocado on toast, it was wonderful.  Now I cheat, I buy the prepared avocado at Costco and use it on my toast.  Why!  well, because… I found that I would purchase fresh avocados from the grocery store, and then either they would not be ripe enough, I left them too long and yuck.  I decided on the lazy way.  I saw the packaged avocado dip/spread, looked at the ingredients.. and just like that it was in my basket.   Sigh…When there is a will there is a way!

I learned to live   (Aprendi a viver)

To practice every day  (pra gente pracicar)

To solve many problems,     (resolver nossos problemas)

To progress and improve   (proredir e melhorar)

And so can you…. we need only to look at what we want, then  look at how to resolve what we want so that we can enjoy  =^_^=

It is not cheating, it is achieving… an end result that works for YOU.

We are all unique, and how we go about looking after ourselves, well… there is always a way !!!

change – in spades

Bali Nov. 2015

Yesterday, driving home from a meeting at the funeral home, I was feeling good, a lot had been accomplished, when bump…. a car side swiped me.  Yes in my brand new car. I honked and indicated that the car pull overt, which it did, we drove to a safe place and pulled off away from traffic.

I got out to look at my car, and found that there was no scratch on the metal but there was one on the black trim over wheel.  I was not amused.  Turning I saw the elderly man getting out of the other car.  Dressed as gentlemen do … there was a time when a man would not be caught at any time away from home, without a dress shirt and pants .. the driver of the errant vehicle was slow, his hands a bit shaky.  He had come prepared, he had his wallet out, should he need to give me identification.  What I saw and felt was a man who dreaded what was possibly going to  happen.

He waited for my “reaction”

bali nov 2015

I felt like the empty beach, with the mist that hangs over the water, in the picture you see above this text,  I couldn’t erase the “damage”, turn back the clock, he was already upset, my words were quiet, and I explained that this was a new car, and that my husband had just passed away, I was not happy about the scratch on my new car.  I couldn’t believe I was being so “quiet”..

He did his best to assure me that a bit of shoe polish would hide the scratch.  He sighed philosophically and said, “a new car doesn’t stay new  forever”.  He offered to pay to have it fixed, however, except for asking for his name and phone number, I let it go.  My mind wanted to walk into the mist.

After apologizing again, he explained that he had lost his only set of keys and had been frantically searching for them, and had just found them, his anxiety, and stress, caused him to swerve into my lane.  I said goodbye and left.

It is a new car, and maybe later I will react differently, but somehow.. I don’t think so, life is very fragile, material things, can’t replace feelings. The news around the world these days is unsettling we are all human beings, we all bleed if we are cut, and we all hurt when someone is thoughtless or cruel.

Day 31 in the PL Calendar – Your World will change when you look at things in a positive light.

Everything you encounter is an opportunity for you to express yourself.  What you choose to make of the situation is entirely up to you.

May your day be filled with sunshine, and your nights calm and serene.

Avocado toast

Avocado toast

??? so where is the picture of my newest discovery.  Simple, it was so good, I ate it before I could take a picture. That is what happens when you skip breakfast, buy fresh avocados and come into the house hungry.  I mashed the avocado and tossed it with mayo and garlic salt.  Nothing fancy, but oh so yummy.

I’ve got fresh shiitake mushrooms and new type of dried mushroom soaking so that I can have mushrooms and “fish” for supper.  Side order of fresh green veggies from the Asian grocers ( T & T )  I got fresh ginger, that I will slice into slivers to toss with the greens. I am not going to tell you about the toasted bagel I had for dessert.. =^_^=

No, to those of you raising an eye brow.. nothing on the bagel, no butter, not cream cheese, I ate it nude.

Day 30   PL Calendar for 2018

Use Your Results to Make the Nest Time even Better

Whether things turn out perfectly or not, the important thing is to take what you’ve learned and apply it the next time.

Enjoy the day before you.  Make the most of each moment.  They can never be relived.  Be present.  Be in the NOW.

Another moment in Norway… look at the clear blue skies…  it feels “brisk.. maybe not, will have to wait for Bonnie to come home to find out.

adrift in time, even when present

sky in norway

A friend took this picture in Norway recently, I asked for permission to use it.  When I saw it, I felt that it mirrored my very BEing.

The reflection of the clouds in the water, the distant shore, the elevation, shadows, and quiet that  presented itself to me, was so hauntingly beautiful.

I felt blanketed by a calm that caressed and descended into every pore of my existence.  This moment of perfection, the harmonizing of captured beauty, visual expression with receptive emotion, translated to a joyous moment with the Universe.

The recognition of a spiritual force, a moment when eternity unfolds, then simply etches the “forever” in your open “heart” then, in the twinkling of an eye, the moment is gone… but always the memory will linger on.

How are you doing, friends, ask… I’m doing fine thank you…  My life is enriched by all the blessings I am so fortunate to have found in YOU.  My thank YOU to each and every one of you, who have let me know you care,  with your caring, my loss is easier to bare, I appreciate each and everyone of you….

paying attention to every detail

PL Day 15     Being Attentive makes life more enjoyable

Live life paying careful attention to every detail, be it big or small.  By doing so, you will be able to experience the subtle joy in things.

Had I been paying careful attention at the time I put this picture in my family folder, I would have noted who sent it to me, and where they were at the time  =<>=

That said, isn’t this just the most magnificent of artistry.

Be at peace with the world today.

express yourself

skeleton thinking

Do you find yourself waiting for the right moment.  Waiting for the “plan” to come together, then find out days, weeks later that “by golly”, it is not done yet, or you’ve lost the thread of that “great” idea?”

The PL Day 12  Carry Out What you believe in..

Once you have prepared everything to the best of your ability, seize any opportunity that comes your way and take action without hesitation.  Express yourself to the fullest.

WeighYourself

There are times, when we can fool others, but try as we might, we cannot fool ourselves.  Deep down, we know ourselves, even when we try to do otherwise… The truth is within.

exercise in Nothing

nothing 1Good morning everyone.. thinking to be smart, I thought I would take a picture of nothing (* wink) =^_*=     I believe that nothing is always something.

Aim at the sky.  darn, even when I thought it was open space.. look, its sky with different hues of blue. look even the sun peaked in.

hmmm nothing on the door, let’s take a picture of nothing there.

nothing 7. door 5.7Little rascal,

evades me again, Nothing is the door!

OK, I spun around quickly and shot Nothing behind me..

nothing 3Can you see Nothing…

Nope, concrete, wood and vegetation.  Nothing is always SOMETHING.

So, next time someone  asks you, “what are you doing” and you say “NOTHING” ………………………. or when you are asked, what are you thinking, and you reply “NOTHING” ………………………. what are you saying, what do you mean?

NOTHING IS ALWAYS SOMETHING

patience

may 3

Being on the receiving end of two sets of eyes patiently waiting, determined not to let me take a bite without my knowing they are watching, is cute.  And for me it is a visual lesson in patience.

Where some dogs have been known to beg, these two don’t.  They just sit and watch me. I am sure every morsel of food is counted (in a canine way).. do the chopsticks go to my mouth, or  is the piece being redirected to a napkin, that “just could” be their reward for being so patient.

There is a shrimp dish that is cooked with the whole shrimp, that has been lightly battered.  This dish they are particularly aware of, they know I will share the heads and tails with them.  Until I actually  say their names, they will just sit patiently knowing that they will be rewarded.

Other times when I am busy enjoying every little tid bit, I am fascinated to see that my usual dinner mates, have no interest at all, and have curled up to nap.  They instinctively  know, that there will be no sharing.

Do we, pay as much attention to those around us, are we aware of their habits, the different ways they speak or do things, are we flexible in our ability to adjust to the energy around us easily?  Are we considerate of others?  Is it our natural response to the daily encounters that pop us during our day.  Can we put away our “ego” when it is perhaps getting in the way of a sincere exchange.

Sometimes what we say and what we are thinking are not in sync.  This leads to misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

Do you attract, happy or unhappy people in your sphere?  Questions, a lot of questions, I know, but beginning the day with a short meditation/reflection…. is always a positive start to the day.
