Thursday door – dreams

Alexander Lautsyus January post

Door –      usually we think of a physical barrier that opens, closes, revolves, but what about the doorway to our dream states, or entrance to another realm.  When Alexander posted this picture in earlier January of this year, I was immediately transported to another place, a state of mind/Being.  I had no words to describe how it made me feel, it just spoke volumes to me.

I immediately texted him asking for permission to use this photo, this is a copy, to see his original post, please visit ice art Jan 22.18

The picture for me puts a visual on the “feeling” of some of my dreams.  His 1st picture in that blog, reminds me of when I am searching looking out, and this one I’ve posted, reminds me, or gives me a feeling of happiness and joy.  He was on Lake Ontario, he looked, he saw, and he captured.

Not a physical door, but definitely for me, a doorway, an experience of walking through to another “world”.  For “real” tangible doors, you need to link to Norm 2.0 and from there follow the links to all the other bloggers who post to this feature.

Thanks for sharing today, it is a beautiful day, and you are all part of my sunshine!

chop suey Wednesday

Good morning everyone.  I thought I would start today to talk about laziness.  Seriously this is one of my “work on it” traits or “flaws”  Being a visual person, I woke to a perfect example to share with you.

cafeland 1.17.18

This is a game I play on my iPhone when I am somewhere waiting, ie. for a dental, or doctor’s appointment.  Now that I no longer have an iPad, having gone for a phone with a bigger screen, you know the size of the screen I am working on.  Interestingly, the game on my computer is the same but not the same, my computer being a Windows format.

When I began on the iPhone/Pad, I had to start all over with a new café, in this new format. Fun I thought I can do something totally different.  Off to the races I went, enjoying myself, watching my money grow etc.  However, I don’t have the friends to play with in this format, but lots through the game.  I digress.

Last night I decided to start decorating for the Chinese New Year, which will be coming up soon in mid February. *year of the Dog* (lunar calendar)  The program suggested I take a picture to show my friends, I took a picture and sent it to myself.

To my horror when I looked at the picture this morning, I was assaulted with the glaring objects of my laziness.

  1. I didn’t clean up the floors before taking the picture
  2. I saw where I had started to change my servers and didn’t go back to make sure all of them were done.  In fact, I used some from my inventory rather than buy the shiny metal ones that go with my  décor ..( frugal and lazy)
  3. The tips could have been collected, but in truth I didn’t see them, again, I didn’t take the time to look

Small over sights maybe, but in my case, I lean towards lazy, we all do, intention is to go back and fix it, but as the days go along, and since it is only me playing, none of my guests to this site, are known to me… bla bla bla… excuses.  After making time to fix up the café, start on my remodel, I take a picture .. and voila. caught on camera…

We just never know do we.  this is a fun example, but it IS an example, we never know, taking short cuts, neglecting to do something “just because”.  A camera never lies the results can be photo-shopped or edited,  but lens itself, never lies.

mountain 1.15.

I knew I shouldn’t just stop along the highway, but when I saw the trees coated in white snow, I found a way to stop so I could take a few pictures.

mountain c 1.15

Too often, I squeal with delight at something I pass along the way.  I know moments can’t repeat themselves, but still I try.  I wanted to capture the white frosting on the sculpted branches.  I drove for miles and saw only open fields, with winter shades of blanched stalks, and soft golden grasses standing out from the fresh fallen snow.  Farm houses, and barns in the distance would have made great captures, but there was no place to stop.

We need to seize opportunities when they show themselves.  As I turned off the busy #43, towards Mountain, I saw the  stand of trees, with their blanket of snow, and the textured ground cover and I knew… it was time to pull over.  Such moments, are not necessarily the best photos, but they sure are rewarding moments that leave a person feeling good. Sometimes we need just LIVE the moment, and then move on.

If we hold back, wait and want only that perfect picture.  We miss the moment.  Technical composition, for me does not  >for me<  a memory make… Just saying…

That is why we are all so different, and why appreciation of another is so valuable in the enrichment of daily life.

noodles,shrimp,egg and greens

Japanese noodles, Chinese greens, green pepper, hard-boiled egg, and big yummy pieces of shrimp.  The shrimp I put in first, so that it would warm with the hot chicken soup base, and pork flavour seasoning.  While this sits soaking up all the flavours, I read my morning lesson,

Friday Fog

Innes VV 1

As I drove through the fog today, there were stretches of road that simply disappeared from view.  I turned on my head lights and carefully followed a good distance from the car in front.

The radio was on, the announcer telling me about the flash freeze heading our way, and that once the temperature started to drop, listeners were to proceed with caution, being watchful for black ice.  I was almost at my destination, slowing down I pulled into the parking lot and made my way to the back of the building.  As quickly as the rain had started to  pour down in an angry stream of driving rain, it stopped. I was able to get out of the truck, and snap a few pictures before it started up again.

I got home before the temperature did its plunge to below zero, in single digits.  The fog inspired another page on http://www.dymoonadventures.com  It will be a challenge, splitting my “creative moments” but, I feel up to it.  I am hoping that it will encourage me to write more of the fiction that I used to so enjoy.

In PL, Perfect Liberty, PL Precept # 20   Live Maintaining equilibrium between mind and matter.  Basically to me, reminds me to find and maintain balance in all I do.   Like today’s fog, that floated in and out of my awareness, ideas, words, thoughts are continually taking center stage in my conscious mind.

Obviously I am grateful, and appreciate that this is “me”  but there are times, when the “I” in me wants to express life in a different way.  Where philosophy, and creativity “play out” to get my attention.  My solution today, clean up my messy work table in my “studio” and reward myself with an early night.

PL Precept #7  Everything exists om relativity.

Have a super great week-end everyone.  Till soon.

Spam

spam and eel 1.2018You betcha… it is cans of SPAM

Good morning, there is a soft snow falling, the plow has been by, and I am preparing to head out.  May not go too far, if the snow picks up..  but need to get basics, like milk and eggs.

When was the last time you had Spam, have you ever had Spam?  It has been around for ages, I recall it being used for sandwiches.  Never on my shopping list, nor was it part of my Mother’s inventory for meals.  For years, it was totally lost to me.

Then I read an article about how Spam is a delicacy  in some countries, and in Korea and Hawaii, they make special dishes with Spam.  In fact, someone told me, there are areas in this world where they can’t keep it on the shelves, and it gets locked up because it is a favourite for shop lifters.  Hello?????? Spam??????

Curious me, I decided to look for it in our local Asian grocers.  I was really surprised at the variety offered. And now it is being made by other companies, using a different name, since Spam is trademarked.  Will wonders never cease.  Initially I bought one can, brought it home to try, and discovered that for a canned product, it had potential for integration into my style of dishes  And my husband could easily chew, eat and digest it without a problem.  Hello Spam!

As I sit here munching on my spicy Szechuan Spam  sandwich made with a Chinese sweet bun.. I am very content with this new discovery.

Trying something new is fun.  Leads to new possibilities, and a different taste to the palette, which in turn, makes for a truly “yummy” moment.  Early morning and I am already having a day of discoveries.

Hope you are also enjoying an exciting and adventurous day.  We are the captains of our own ships.  Or is it the chefs in our own kitchens.  Whatever, I know you get the drift.

Enjoy the day allow it to build to its fullest potential.  You will be blessed!

today 1.7.18

violetGood Morning everyone…

I am working on a new project, this is how far I’ve progressed since the other day.  Working with the medium I am using I prefer to let the layers dry before I move on to other layers.

Plus the layer I am working on might have to be done in stages since it is  “come as you are” inspiration.  Meaning, I work on it when I am “feeling it”  Some projects get finished others do not.  Simple fact.  I long ago learned that I am happiest living in the moment.  I am not a planner in the sense that I map out what I will  do next fall, or next year.

As it turns out this has become a blessing for me.  My husband having been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, we live each day, happy to start a day, and to once again share the happiness of  being together.  Every day is a huge blessing, one we are grateful and thankful for.

In the book “the power of kindness” by Piero Ferrucci, he  has 2 lines that stands out for me.  “To remember is to live.  To forget is to die”

In PL we have the 21st precept.  Live in Perfect Liberty.

Today we start another day, I wish you joy, happiness and all that you desire to make it a memorable one.

Till soon Q
