Zen moments

image2Looking out at animals calmly enjoying their time in the pasture.

Their only thought is to BE.

Not feeling 100% I took to my bed early, I thought I would listen to my body, and simply lie down.

Life has a way of getting in the way.

PL calendar day 27

Put all of your effort into the NOW.

You can only do your absolute best right this moment; not in the past, not in the future, but NOW

Good morning, bom dia, at the start of another beautiful day. 8 in my world is considered a lucky number.  I just happened to have my camera ready when Nick had his back turned.  Nick is one of a pair.  Mel his beautiful and talented wife was, we soon discovered, watching us from other part of the museum where she was stuck behind a short wall.  It was my good fortune that the two decided to take a day trip up to visit. Heck they only live some 11, 12 hours away.  Let me tell you they are very special.

I got to see a lot of interesting exhibits as we wandered the museum, but the greatest gift for me was to share time with friends that I have grown to love.  They bring such caring and open sharing when they are visiting.  Every visit is like a homecoming.  The laughter is genuine, such friendships are treasured.

IMG_1515Possessions can be acquired,  They can be enjoyed and cared for, but having good friends, and time spent in warm, comforting camaraderie.  That is a blessing.  It was a wonderful visit, I thank them both.

PL calendar day 7    Don’t strain, don’t rush, and don’t be greedy

When you are doing something, you may rush things to get good results quickly.  Instead, relax and enjoy he process.

I can only imagine how as the friendship grows, we will appreciate even more our differences, and our sameness.

One of life’s lessons, to be practiced and lived  – appreciate differences, everyone is unique, share with an open heart.

inner travels

IMG_1362

I lay watching the slow rotation of the ceiling fan, a very lazy start to the day indeed. Keeper (female whippet) lay sprawled out beside me.  She was showing her nurturing side, concerned that today might be a repeat of yesterday.

IMG_1358She gets very concerned when I cry and wail.  Velcro (male whippet) her older brother, takes it in stride, he saw and lived through my display of raw emotion, when my husband was in his final days, and Keeper got out and ran away.  Yesterday he simply got up from his favourite chair in another part of the house, to come  lie beside me, to lend me his support and quietly wait it out.

IMG_1360My son the other day, looked at me, and said, ” Mom, its OK to cry”  and of course it is, but for me, I can’t just cry, I have to be  totally shaken and depleted, the body has to over-ride my happiness and stubborn mind that tells me, that there is just so much to be thankful for.  And of course there always is, I am so blessed.

However sometimes, the sadness, and discontent of others is too much for me to bear. I feel their pain, frustrations and disillusion.  And I have learned that I cannot be happy for someone else.  You can not lift the happiness from your life, like a shawl and put it around someone else. You can be kind, listen, share in their “present state” and lend what-ever support you can.

IMG_1363

In the end, the choice belongs to them.  Yesterday I cried, all the sadness, the disappointments that I have listened to for the last many days and months, welled up and demanded to be released. I wanted escape, and freedom from the continuous onslaught of negative news, the vicious nature that is surfacing in the world around us.  The curiosity we seem to have for the gossip tabloids, that thrive by reporting or should I say offering up gossip about cheating, lying and fornication.  Where we lust instead of love.

IMG_1365Time for some time out.  Quality time without a cell phone,  computer, laptop, or tablet. There is a reason, dogs (pets) are the best of friends.  They offer unconditional love. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cherish your family and friends, offer kindness and understanding to those around you, when there is unkindness, or dishonesty aimed in your direction. Deflect it, or let it pass you by.  Life is too short.

PL Calendar, day 26        Maintain a Positive Attitude and Wisdom will                                                   come to you.

Quiet, blue skies, puffy clouds, shadows, the dignity of dying, allowing for the next season to begin.  Gratitude and Acceptance.

*Excerpts from God and Nature, sung in church Sunday, (page)

I can harmonize with you with nature and humankind.  I am happy living like this, a rich feeling hard to find.  Harmonizo-me contigo, com os homens e a natureza.  Viendo assim sou feliz E nao ha maior riqueza

With love and blessings, great the world with your smile and presence.

October 1st

pomegranate paintOctober has arrived… Outubro 1… Bom dia

Yesterday I went in search of a colour of paint that would mix well with what I had to enhance the suggestion of blood.  Dried blood.  Luckily where I shop there is always someone to help and with my cohort  Little Piglet, we spent a happy hour browsing and shopping.  I know it is not often someone comes in looking for blood, but Isabelle, at Scrap En Mass (Alfred, Ontario) was up to the task.  When you shop with a goal in mind, you are more easily able to describe what you want.

The ambience of the place is also a factor, the display of merchandise, the overall sense of creativity and fun that is generated by other customers.  The time spent searching out, then playing with the items later, is always an interlude, that passes quickly, it is refreshing.

Greetings on Sunday

fright drucillaMay the day shine brightly for you.  Sunday and we are not having a service this morning, because of the service last evening. What does one do on a Sunday morning, when there is no service.  I to Drucilla’s displeasure, decided to play with my paint and other supplies to start on a  makeover for her.  I have told her that this is therapeutic for both of us, but her silence tells me, …. it is all in my head.

Tomorrow begins another month.  October.  The leaves have started to change, when driving the back roads yesterday, I saw more sights of reds peaking through the evergreens.  Actually not only the various shades of red, but the yellow orange hue were also taking over the fresh greens of the summer.  The camera buffs who have been slumbering through the sweltering summer, will be polishing off their lenses to take full advantage of the fall display that will soon be in full bloom.  I confess, I love, LOVE the autumn season, here in Canada where we get four different seasons, the fall months tantalize and delight me.

With that in mind I will be on the watch this morning, for “something” to catch my “eye” while I am out driving along the river, into rural Ontario. Some time, when you are inclined to do so, you must tell me how you mange to drive and “catch” that perfect moment, when there is other traffic on the road… =^_^=

PL Calendar day 30

Use your results to make the next time even better

Whether things turn out perfectly or not, the important thing is to take what you’ve learned and apply it to the next time.

If I could make this lesson, flash with neon lights, I would do so,  I think the mice are back, or trying to come back in  As you know, it took a long time to rid this house of the little “devils”…. So! mon ami, it looks like we will again, take on the capturing of mice.

I have spent my evenings with Poirot (Agatha Christie} audio books, so delightful!

Quiet

The other day, this pond was quiet, still.

Yesterday it was populated with a gaggle of ducks happily enjoying the sunshine of an early fall day.

brazil, que mais?

an early birthday surprise….

Many years ago, I would not have known who Neymar Jr was, nor would I have wanted  a futbol shirt. See how time changes us.  Time and the various experiences we live shape our development.  A stint in  a Spanish country, a visit to the French seaside, life is full of possibilities.  Each step we take outside our comfort zone, makes us stronger.

Tomorrow the 11th. in PL we will be celebrating Ancestors day.  In some countries it is already tomorrow.  For my many friends on the same time-table as myself, wake to a new day, and be thankful for who you are today.

Show your appreciation by giving back to the world around you.

(PL day 11 on our calendar)
