listening

How many ways are there to listen. Visiting with a friend the other day, we were talking of the pandemic and how in today’s world so many children are growing up seeing their grand parents only at a distance, My friend in particular has grandchildren that during this past year, she has had the pleasure of seeing only a few times in comparison to prior to the pandemic, the closures, shut downs, lock downs.. restrictions.

Got me to thinking. When I’ve been out I’ve watched the people around me, in the shopping areas, the parks, most of the time .. distance is being maintained. I have heard that in some areas that has not always been the case, but I’ve been lucky … places I’ve been … people are careful… they do their best to maintain a “social” distance.

As I visited with another friend through social media what came up was how the interaction between couples has also changed. This caught my attention because another friend and I had talked about just such a subject not that long ago. I am a digital photographer in a virtual world as those of you who follow me know, I am fortunate to have friends who will help me out when I want to express a visual feeling/emotion that presently in day to day life I cannot do. My friend agreed to sit with me for a moment in a pose that shows affection between a young couple. It was to be for another post (for me) on listening. His input was valuable to me… he said.. it is someone listening when his/her partner has come home from work, stressed, tired, and she/ he is attentive and not only listening but connecting with a warm embrace.

Living alone since my husband died, I of course had forgotten such a time. I learned from my friend about something I myself had forgotten. The intimate personal moments between a couple, that are about showing kindness, caring, and that special moment when one can BE together, in a moment of sharing. A moment that can erase and make a big difference in how the rest of the day will proceed.

My friend was gracious in giving of his time so I could capture a photo to share with you (my wonderful readers) I was fulfilling a task on my “get it done” list. But in those few moments, he opened my eyes to something that was dormant and gone from my life. That is what listening is all about, being present, so that each and every moment we live it is an experience.

We are living with restrictions, and we are being asked to maintain a distance, but I ask you all to not forgot the importance of touch, the meaning of a soft embrace, the holding of hands. Every where, we are being told keep away, stay away, don’t see people. But as a human being, we do need to experience and know love.. when you can and when its right, let someone you love, know.. you care. Find a way.

Today’s calendar -THE PAST LEADS TO NOW AND NOW LEADS TO THE FURTURE. LIFE IS AN ACCUMULATION OF MOMENTS, CHERISH EACH ONE.

Sarsaparilla Trail

Num Ottawa

See why I treasure my photographer friends.. I was at Sarsaparilla Trail this morning, this is where I had my wonderful morning walk. This is where I met Num months back when he graciously gave me permissions to use some of his photos.. I really admire these photographers who in the middle of all the wonderful wonders that abound in the woodlands, they can find and capture such wonderful pictures. Doesn’t this little guy have the cutest face! thank you Num!!

I’m like the hound dog, nose to the ground, keen and wide eyed with anticipation of the hidden mysteries from beyond =^_^=

On the 11th of each month, we celebrate Ancestor’s Day.. service will be at 10 a.m.

saw my first robin of the season today =^_^=

The day was so promising, sunny, mild, I got to the lake early enough there were only 3 cars in the parking lot. few people its a large outdoor space. There is something about walking into the woods hearing only the call of the birds, and the scurrying of the squirrels and other ground runners. Early enough in the day I could still smell the earth warming as the long reach of the sun made its way down into the ground teasing the moisture out of the soil

I’ve grown accustomed to the early morning visits with nature.. I like to wander along the paths and envision the hidden activities that I know are happening all around. I see a bird in the distance, a butterfly dances by, somewhere above there is the rat-a-tat of a woodpecker.

always I am rewarded with a new find… =^_^=

not just a rock.. is it a rock.. wow look at what I found

No… I did not bring it home.. I left it for someone else to enjoy, it was big enough and heavy from the look of it.. there were tree stumps and big branches that appealed to me too.. but I certainly didn’t entertain the idea of bringing anything home.. well…

ok .. there were fun pieces lying around all over the place..
see what I mean.. just have to go back don’t I..!! you betcha!

beep beep

I don’t usually leave my shadow in the picture, but.. I wanted you to see how close these ducks were to me.. they came up from behind me.. I moved over to let them by, then followed till I had to pick up the pace. They were in no hurry.

My first visit to Mud Lake… light bulb moment.. if you walk into the woods, and walk for over an hour one way, guess what.. it is going to be the same amount of time coming back. A short walk becomes. a “good” hike.. Going out it is all new, you re snapping pictures and just soaking it all in. Coming back, the mantra is.. coffee, coffee.. and gosh it’s hot.. gotta find a way to carry the vest and roll up the sleeves. Beep beep, out of the way, this gal wants to get to her car and her ice coffee!

Each moment is a turning point. Postamo-nos sempre na bifurcaao entre o bem e o mal. Siemppre esdtamos ante la bifurcacion del bien y del mal.

Costco

A door, a single door, an inexpensive find, a wanted door, BUT an “I can’t have ” door. Imagine productively searching the aisles for how to get to what I was after without being around people. I saw an opening and headed that way, it was a bit of a detour but I would get to the fresh breads/baking, and could go towards dog/animal foods later.. Aimed the cart for the open space and stopped in my tracks. A DOOR.. a blank wooden door, a faux barn door complete with the hardware. A door chaser, an artist, a “covid” bored adult with time on my hands.. A door I could bring home.. NOT!! I am in cutting back, giving away, declutter mode.. a blank door.. OMG what to do. I got out my camera and took a picture while I stood fixated on the spot. Oh dear, Oh dear, I can’t bring it home, try as I might I just have no where to put it. A barn door is so out of character for a small war time house. so guys and gals, the door is getting featured in today’s THURSDAY DOORS.

No competition from me with a door already rich with character, an oldie or a new found “treasure” I am giving it a place all to itself. Let your imagination go wild, this door has so much potential, endless possibilities.. I’d say it can be useful as well as a blank canvas.

Next week I’ll be back with more doors, meanwhile, I told this door, it would have a place today where someone else might also appreciate it.. btw.. while I stood contemplating this beautiful door, the rest of the activity in the store, and you know a Costco can be busy, simply faded and disappeared.

Doors are “magic” come up to one, walk thru one, a whole new “moment” awaits you.

strolling

Early morning stroll through the woods was amazingly peaceful. I saw another ermine, many squirrels, chipmunks, and I can’t swear to what it was, but it was an animal, bigger than a squirrel, black, sleek with white streaked by me through the thickets, under a raised foot path, and into an area of brush. Because it was a rich black satin and there was a lot of white, I thought of a skunk, but.. skunks I’ve seen in the past, waddle, and have girth, this animal was sleek. What few people I did see were off in the distance, on another trail. Any ideas? It was fast and ran like the ermine does.. a graceful leaping action.

The weather forecasters are calling for even higher temperatures over the next couple of days. There was little to no snow in the woods, with the ongoing balmy weather, we should be seeing a lot of new growth soon. I’ve almost depleted my sunflower seeds.. I left the squirrel to his breakfast, the supply will simply disappear by next visit.

There are many path ways presented to us during our daily living. choose wisely.

the dress

We found Cloven Forest while looking for a place to get some relaxation in, and get some work done. Cloven Forest is billed as a quiet calm place “that will comfort your soul as you wander beneath a canopy of trees and explore the forest. They( the owners of the sim) encourage photography and the build is wonderfully set out to allow for a lot of pictures both for singles and couples.

Clothes are such an interesting article in our wardrobe. I know there are many, not just myself and some of my friends, who dress for comfort…. you might be someone who shares my dislike having to dress to please someone else. I was never good at accepting having to wear a “uniform”. I am guilty of having once been a Designer -“labels” devotee…. thankfully I outgrew the phase.

The dress or clothing you wear should be # 1 comfortable .. I’m not one to say I only wear #$%, if I see something I like and it will be comfortable to wear, and easy to look after. then its a winner. My problem is that my “character” wants change from day to day. AND of course there is the question of , will naughty, nice, playful, serious, chilling, come into the equation of what to wear and how to wear it.

Think about what you wear, why you wear it, and how you wear it. Does what you come up with, stay the same from day to day, or does it change with your mood, the season, etc.

Yes contemplating the dress, dressing, and how to build the character that is seen visually, is always a good time filler. Another day we can discuss, the rest of the componets that make up your avatar. In SL we call it an avatar, in the RL, its the many personalities we wear from day to day.

How do you see yourself.

You’re happy, I’m happy. Have the mindset of “good for you, good for me” Express yourself in a way that makes others happy.

What can I say, I went out without a camera, the Nikon and the Canon were left hanging on their hooks… never even entered my mind to have them with me. Then I found myself alone in the sun with two Canada Geese who were happy to spend time with me preening and dining. I got to see the underside of the bird as it dived down to forage from the lake bed. No camera and none of my photographer friends in sight. Thankfully I had my cell (Samsung) so I did manage a couple of pictures, and I took a couple of videos.. however, I have no idea how to transfer them from the phone to my PC… eventually.. I’ll get there. =^_^=

An hour on my own with them before other humans came along, and they took flight. There is something to be said about experiencing the “wild” and the natural “harmonies” that abound in nature with out the jarring sounds that humans and their “toys” make.

You’re happy. I’m happy. Have the mindset of “good for you, good for me” Express yourself in a way that makes others happy.
