Bom dia, good morning

Lego, Lego, it has been around for years. I never played with it in years gone by, and had no intentions of playing with Lego now. One should never say never. Lately I have been introduced to the many “wonders” of the Lego world of activities, I thought for the younger generation, however, I have since learned that Lego is played with by the young and old, and that collectors are hugely abundant.

In my travels I came across this set. #75951 Fantastic Beasts. I thought to give it a try. It was not in the cards. My fingers lacked the coordination and my aging gray matter rebelled unkindly to my intentions. A friends grandson, I was told was a super whiz at building Lego, and that my little 100 some blocks would be sneeze. His accomplishments are in sets that have thousands of pieces. I shudder at the thought, what patience he must have. I surrendered my little horse and carriage.

And look dear friends, I have it back and it is a beauty. I am thrilled. The young man is now my Lego hero my knight in shining armor. I will never think of Lego in the same way again. btw notice that the heroes are younger now.. or is it I am getting older.

Bom Dia on this lovely crisp Fall day. For the last couple of days I have pulled together Xmas holiday stash, and begun my card making for the November deadline, or maybe it is end of October. Must check that. I decided on a theme this year,since the cards are going to elderly persons that will stuck in home, hospitals and such over the holidays, I decided on a theme of “days gone by” I asked myself if I was going to be a recipient what would I enjoy.

There are many talented card makers who have been doing this for year, so there will be wide variety for the organizers to pick from. Have any of you given serious thought to what. you will be doing in December. I have not, thinking that far ahead was something I didn’t do. It has always been a time of year that I have not felt in sync with.

Yes I enjoy the colour and the gaiety that seems to arrive with the holiday season in December…. but the spiritual side of it all, I have found lacking. But that my dears is not something we will go into now. (huge sigh of relief heard throughout the land)

btw the cards are not finished yet, they are mid way. I see I’m running late, I will wish you all the best of what today will bring your way. I am looking forward to reading more of the autumn months from you, and the wonderful scenes you will post.

clear day

Bom dia, Sabado…Saturday after a big storm. I woke to skies of blue, and clear as far as the eye can see. NO, not to Brazil, but wanted to share with you a birthday card I did for a friend. My interpretation of a birthday card, comes in many dimensions and depending on where it is headed, can be almost anything.

I learned at an early age, not to limit my imagination and creativity. Admittedly sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I do my best. Key words, do my best. In all we do, it is important that we do our best. Be in the moment, as long as we do our best, we will have no regrets. It applies to all we do and say.

We all encounter storms during our stay in this world, some emotional, some physical, whatever happens, we live through it and move on. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is not. Whatever, and wherever you are today, you are here, you are living another day. Do it well.

Chop Suey Tuesday 18th

First I want to thank you all or your birthday wishes. I was away for a birthday outing yesterday, when I came back I was overwhelmed by all the messages and good wishes. Wow, it is going to be super awesome year, I have been jet propelled into a new year. I am truly blessed, I say thank you each and every day!

While some look for pristine, blank pages, I work at making mine look old, and sometimes, like here, I strive to make rust, and dirty a page, this is my playtime. Yesterday was spent visiting places in west of downtown Montreal, looking for paint, inks, and any and all other artistic, creative tools, to be found, It was an all day event that I got to share with two like-minded friends, needless to say, it was a lot of fun.

Every person is unique, we each and every one of us, expresses ourselves in our own way. What rocks one person, can be a total turn off to the other, yet when we are on a search and find mission, the enthusiasm of the other person’s excitement when they have found something that has fired up their enthusiasm for their craft, that is catching. It is smiles all around.

In our travels as we headed back towards Ottawa, I found Catnip who I knew would be perfect for my October Fright journal.

Sharing happiness with friends is a blessing. What better way to share a birthday celebration, Catnip will always remind me that my 2018 birthday was not only great. It lasted for days, Today I am off on another adventure.

Ink and paint

ink spot Hello

Greetings everyone… A bright sunny day shines before us. I started a pen and ink last night, but of course, since I do mixed media, I of course played with different mediums.

Life is much like when we begin a painting. We start out with an idea, and as we progress with our idea, we find that we want to either add or subtract from our possibilities. The advantage of course of a visual on canvas, is that we can stand back and review what we are doing. If it is really unsettling, and we don’t like it, we can either paint over it, or throw it out.

Not so in life. that is why we encourage the practice discussed in today’s calendar lesson.

In the past I have used sludge from DeSerres (Tri Art) I spilled my last jar and have yet to replace it, so the above was done using alternate products found in my inventory.

To achieve a result, often requires more than one product, and when one ingredient is not available, if we are determined to get the result we are hoping for, we explore what is available, or easy access, and we experiment. It doesn’t matter if we succeed exactly as we had wanted what matters is that we do our best .. and try.

*** and *** that you are happy and cheerful while you are creating. Happiness is a state of mind. It is the journey that counts. When we are not open to every possibility around us at any given time, it could be a missed opportunity.

Wednesday musings

perogies 1.24a

Perogies – finally after weeks of thinking about it, I got a package and did them up for lunch. It has been years and years since I last had Perogies, were they as I remembered them..yes and no. They did taste of potatoes, and this package said they were filled with 3 kinds of cheese. All in all it was a good lunch. 4% sour cream, steamed veggies, sprinkled with garlic and seasoning.

Today was about “follow through” tomorrow’s lesson is about living a fulfilled life every day by utilizing things, money , knowledge/energy to their fullest. Since we got the news that my husband’s illness would be something that we will have to adjust to, we are both working daily to ensure that we stay in a positive, and healthy “mode”.. part of this for both of us, is to remove clutter and negatives, and to rejoice in discovering or rediscovering people and things that we like/enjoy.

Perogies, is a small something, but an example of wanting the experience again, so I did it. I have also been diligent in removing items that simply clutter, and no longer hold interest in my day-to-day. As my husband is fond of saying, “if you do need it, or something like it, you need only go and get whatever it is, when you need it” It has taken awhile but he has said it often enough that I now “think it” and I am taking action.

It is amazing how much better I feel with each new truck load of merchandise that leaves, there is still a lot more to de-clutter, but I am making headway. In doing so, I have rediscovered a new excitement in my creativity, my imagination is able to move at lightening speed when I least expect it to.

Plus I enjoy knowing that someone else will find the crafting tools, etc. that I no longer want and it will flame their creativity. What a win, win.

No, not my birthday, but I am sure it must be somebody’s birthday, somewhere. With my husband’s surgery fast approaching, I am finding that playing in my studio is a distraction that I find “restful” In the truck I have been listening to a story about King Henry the VIII’s last wife, Catherine Parr, and the court life she led. Interesting enough I guess, but I have decided I can do without the court drama.

The radio is either Holiday music, or if it is talk radio… the news, happenings of the day, budgets, politics and again, not what I call ambient for a soothing companion while I travel around doing last-minute errands.

On Sunday, the church was all festive with a decorated Holiday tree, even had lights. That was a nice surprise, I realized that each year, my husband has put up coloured lights on the garage, of course, this year, that hasn’t been done. Seeing the lights, reminded me that yes, it is the holiday season… but… for us… we will miss it all, it will be a quiet and hopefully healing one.

The Tree 5.20.17 Snow is in the forecast, starting early evening, and, on into the night and most of tomorrow. For everyone wanting a white Christmas, looks like you just might get your wish.

May the joy of the holidays fill your homes with glad tidings. The merriment of shared laughter and tender moments be the ingredients of your days, and peace and serenity the balm of your nights.
