There are days when I am not really the person that I think I am. Instead I am far away in another land.

I was chatting with friend the other day, since cancer is now factored into my life, we were discussing how people react to the word. It was interesting to note, that when I said that cancer was much like being told you are diabetic. She did not agree. Her reasoning was that cancer usually meant death. I understood that she felt that being diabetic your chances were much better. Diabetes is known as the silent killer.

We are born to die. Death is something we all face. A perfectly healthy person, can drop dead without warning. Perhaps they were borderline.. high blood pressure, maybe it was cholesterol, or like my husband, out of nowhere, after living a lifetime with his heart, and never having a problem, he was told, he had an irregular heart beat and it was problamatic to his cancer treatments ?

I fail to see why cancer gets top billing, and why because someone gets the cancer card, it is deemed gloom and doom. Sure there are difficult times, but someone with a gall bladder issue, will be driven almost insane with the pain that they endure till something is done about it. A kidney stone, is not a joking matter either. And ladies, how about that 9th month party of labour pain and the utter joy of the delivery room.

Cancer is a wicked surprise, and it is a challenge, however, we still go to bed each night and wake every morning. How we choose to make use of our time while we are awake and greeting the day, is our choice. The love of life, and the understanding that this is not the time to squander our moments, means that life is full. Love continues to grow and shine it’s light into our activities.

There is an appreciation of the blessings that we have been able to share, and continue to share.

There is no escaping death, whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, we are alive, and we will continue to live until the day/night comes when we go beyond what is here and now. Then, we will be forever/always.

No more, no less.

Lunar Dog Year

Year 2018 —— Dog (earth )

Dogs are capable and knowledgeable, and it is not unusual to see Dog people in high demand in the job market. Dogs like to work at whatever career they choose. Prince William, Elvis, Cher, George Gershwin, Mother Teresa, were born in Dog years

As a partner Dogs are extremely loyal although they think they know best, it is fortunate that they are usually open-minded. and will be open to advice. Generally speaking with their sensitive and compassionate heart, they do well in occupations or careers that “serve” or work in the best interest of others. ie. teachers, charity workers, doctors etc.

Unlike other Dog years the Earth Dog is less idealistic than most Dogs, the Earth element makes them practical enough they don’t lose sight of reality.

In China dogs are usually associated with justice and compassion.

We are living at a time, when the plus, positive characteristics of the Dog, could stand us in good staid.

HAVE A HAPPY START TO THE NEW YEAR. BLESSINGS, GOOD HEALTH, AND PROSPERITY always.

Wednesday’s moment

hydrangea McDonald

Happy Wednesday everyone…. I was driving through a McDonald’s drive through for my ice coffee when I found myself beside a flowering hydrangea. Now I’ve gone past it often, but that day, it was changing into it’s fall colours. The summer white was giving way to the burnt peach/rust that will follow.

To remind you, this is what they look like in bloom early summer. This picture is from the bush on my front lawn. Hydrangea’s remind me of my Mother, she passed away last March, she was fond of the changing seasons, with each passing year of her time here on earth, she allowed nature to take its course, she would blossom in so many ways, it seemed to just happen. Whatever, whenever, she never lost her youthful glow, that came from within. Strength, determination, she held her ground.

This bush has been there for years, I always notice it, whether it is just its sculptured form during winter months, its fresh mint leaves come spring, or the first blossoms of another year.

My Mother is no longer here, but her presence is… When love is unconditional, no matter what… life/love combine, intertwine, harmonize.. like God it is everywhere, in everything we see and do. The sky is always there, weather can change, but the sky is always there.

Blessings my friends… may your world shine, love is everywhere…

Mother 1921-2017

Mother’s life was like an abstract painting, she lived creatively and managed to keep all the assortment of unique personalities that she loved on one mosaic canvas. She had an inner strength and resolve that kept her going for 96 years. Pansies were her favourite flowers. She loved colours, when she set her mind to something, it got done. In later years, she loved to , crochet and knit in quiet times, but she dedicated much of her life to volunteering and working for the good of others. She remained actively involved in all her charities and “projects” till well into her golden years. RIP Mother, your unconditional love and tenacious spirit, will always be with us.

On the first of every month

the church has a ceremony for peace

yet my heart yearns for peace

with each beat of my heart

Like the mist on a cold winter day

I whisper softly the sentiment I feel, into the words I pray

and hope that some day

every day, will be a day of peace.

silver and gold, I wanted it all

treasures of jade and jewels in all the different hues

cold cut diamonds and semi transparent pearls

sapphires, emerald, the bling, dazzle and sparkle

how hard it was to resist the glamour and false dreams

that in collecting and hoarding material wealth

I would find the happiness that had eluded me

Turned out I was wrong….

It was in letting go of material things that I found inner joy

Yes, I still admire and enjoy the jewels of yesterday

Only now I enjoy them in a different way

It is in sharing with others, and giving of myself

that there is a true appreciation of what a genuine treasures is

the sparkle of a well cut diamond is reflected in a friend’s smile

The depth and warm glow of a pearl

is felt when I see the love reflected in a friend’s eyes

I find gold in the sun’s warm balm

and silver in the stars and moon at night

when I look up and see a twinkling star I am filled with awe

these gifts have been there for me since the beginning of time

Let’s make each day we live a memorable one

Let’s stop squandering our precious time

unconditional love, is ours to give
